I thought you have to own business there to purchase property? I want to live here and go to the castle play golf all the time. Didn't think I could just buy something here like this.

Hi, thanks for the comment. So anybody can purchase in Banff. However the occupant of the home must have the "need to reside" in Banff.

Iconic location, stunning home. How in the world the developer was able to get the zoning, planning and all necessary approvals to build is simply beyond me. I remember back in the late 1980's the Scurfield family wanted to expand the parking at Sunshine by about 6' all around and it was like WWIII had broken out with Parks Canada. Nevertheless, this is a great deal at $5m.

thanks for the comments Ian, the sunshine village parking lot fiasco dragged on for many years. There are a few homes in Banff, and one that is currently being built that seem to skirt the Parks Canada approvals / guidelines for residency in Banff

I supplied 8x14 inch beams for a duplex in Banff for two railroad brothers back in 1982; on eday have to visit since I'm living in Invermere BC !! Being Federal lands, I believe all properties have a 99 year lease. At least their lot did.

you're right, it can't be a vacation home, so ti would need to be someone with the need to reside in Banff or an investor that is looking to rent it to people who have the need to reside.
