I live in Euclid and I remember going to there with my family in its prime years. And then I still walked through it once it closed. So sad to see it go. Wish it could’ve gotten redone and not demolished. Glad an amazon building is coming tho. I’ll miss this place.
My grandparents used to take us to that York Steak House all the time as a kid, the tile in the back room is the original tile they had in the early 80s that I remember on the floor of the restaurant. You really took me on a trip down memory lane there, thank you.
Excellent video Wallie. This is sad seeing another mall being torn down. This is memories being wiped away for so many people who shopped and just hung out here over the years. I think it will also be cool to see Aces adventures video of this mall. I think both of your videos will show something a little different of what you both filmed.
Hi, Wallie, this is Alan and I like this video. I've never been to this mall, but it must've been a nice mall at one time. I go to the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville, OH when I'm down that way visiting a buddy of mine who lives south of Steubenville. By the way, I'm a Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates fan. I also love Kennywood Amusement Park in Pittsburgh. I'm 57 years old and I still ride most of the rides there and I still enjoy going to Kennywood as much as I did 15, 20 years ago. Take care and stay awesome. Alan
I worked at Euclid Square Mall from September 1985 until around 1991. I worked for Ritz Camera Center there and at Randall Park Mall and the still open Great Lakes Mall. Ritz had over 2,000 stores and doesn't exist either anymore. Great place to work and it had some very nice stores including Bresler's Ice Cream, York Steak House, London's Chocolates, Hough Bakeries, Dunkin Jewelers, Stride Rite, The Gift Garden......many more!!! So sad it is now Amazon!!!! It was a beautiful mall in its day!!!😢
Thank you, my mom and dad used to take me here as a child, although half of it is gone, it still looks how I remembered, I visited there last year to see ESM one last time, before it was gone, as much as I wanted to go explore, I couldn't, there were people surveing so I videoed what I could, last week heading towards Eastlake I saw there was only one section of the mall left. Sad to see it go, same with Randall Park Mall as it is also gone.
Masterpiece. Wonder if a dead and dying mall/retail video series would work as a regular TV series on History or A&E or Discovery Channel? Better than the reality show junk. You and Anthony and Nate and others who truly respect the dead mall culture could co host. Hope you and Anthony and all your friends do more teamwork videos. This made my week.
I used to go to that mall all the time. I remember the days when it was hopping. I used to work at Doctor Pet Store and go to Cookie Company outside Dillard's and get 3 for $5 chocolate chip cookies. I very much remember York Steakhouse. I was last there in 1988. I moved out of state and didn't get back till 2010 and it was already dead. So many memories I really wish I could have picked up some souvenir. But thank you for recording . It brings back a lot of memories
A friend and me got in this place back in January of 2016 when the churches were still there. There was one clothing store still open that you had to make an appointment with if you wanted to buy from them(which was weird) and one restaurant still open. I guess for the church people. We got caught by the security guard but he was really cool. He had been working at that place for 30 years and gave us a brief history of the place. Apparently it got pretty out of control towards the end. A lot of stealing and people getting in to fights.
all of those abandoned stores had been converted into small churches, like the one where it said "i am divine" on the wall, & the ones near where you found the organ. the mall had like 25-30 storefront churches at one point.
Wallie will you make a video of the Point at Carlisle Commons in Carlisle PA? It's a small almost empty mall in Carlisle PA and it has a beautiful mural of Carlisle history, hand-painted on the wall in 1976. I go there whenever I go to Carlisle, there is just something about it. You do such a wonderful job with the videos; the filming, sound, thorough history and interesting bits, etc. Please make one for that one! Thanks
Damn! Just simply amazing, my two favorite youtubers collaborating in one video. Words just cannot express just how fucking great this video is! Damn I agree I wished I could have been in there in person to explore with you guys. Vintage 90s throughout. Just wow! 😁😁😁
I remember when this was a thriving mall and in the dead years. Glad to get last looks before it’s all gone. I loved throwing pennies into the fountain and seeing Santa at this mall every year in the 90’s
I’m surprised you didn’t go right across the street to the old super Kmart store that used to be there on Babbitt road. I believe it’s now abandoned but the building is still standing. I would love to see what this place looks like now inside and out if possible. It used to be a twin valu store before it was turned into a super-Kmart. Super-Kmart closed there in 2005 from what I’ve heard. A lot of childhood memories on that property. I know you love exploring k-Marts and that’s one I’d love to see. Thanks!!
If I was there, I'd make like a bandit and take that vintage Taco Bell signage. Of course, I'd probably get tossed in the hoosegow for doing so. Amazing find!
They closed our Dillards at our mall in Provo Utah and now they are building a new Dillard’s in Orem Utah for a anchor of the old University mall... CRAZYYYYYY
Wow! I love that Taco Bell sign/logo a lot better than the current. Too bad will be gone or by now is gone. Nice find on that Burger King cup with the old logo, love that logo better than current. That cup is a survivor looks like, I would have kept the cup.
Awesome job as always wallie. Btw regarding the mall as a worship center? When it comes to the worship of the Lord it's good to shop around. Sarcasm noted?
They closed the Dillard’s which was an anchor down at our old mall in Provo Utah and now they are building a new Dillards brand new from scratch to be the anchor of the old university mall 5 miles away in Orem Utah crazy
Wow, from Mall to Amazon, at least the land will continue to be used, and the locals will get a few jobs out of it. Did you see that the Toys R Us just outside the Beaver Valley Mall is on the chopping block? Soon as it's approved in bankruptcy court, it's gonna close.
It's just so fucking depressing. Sears, Kmart, ToysRUs, are all stores I grew up with and it's just crushing to see them go. Especially hometown ones. Will Amazon and Wal-Mart's tyranny ever end?
Fluffydips Thecartoonman Amazon tyranny? Lol. Amazon is thriving because they learned that people want low prices online, malls are retail dinosaurs. I shop on Amazon all the time, I haven't had any use for malls in years.
Rick McCrank has a series called Abandoned. The first episode was called Ghost Mall, and covered Randall Park, Rolling Acres and Euclid Square when it was being used as home to several churches. He said the smell of mold was very prevalent inside when he was there, my guess is that would be a pretty large health concern.
We lost a mall in Fort Wayne called "Southtown mall" in 2004 or so. It was opnened in 1969 and remodeled in 1980. After the remodel it was never fully occupied and went on a slow decline until it was closed in 2003. In 2004 it was torn down.
eric zerkle I used to go to Southtown mall in the early seventies. It was really nice back then. I moved away from Fort Wayne and did not return to Southtown until 2003. I was shocked at how dead and deteriorated it was. I was sad when they demolished it. It was my favorite escape in the early seventies.
Really a shame a lot of good building material could have been reused I donated, allow the public to remove whatever they want from the building windows, doors, light fixtures, etc.
Timothy Simpkins I can't either but I've been to a few malls where they have one or two but never 24. Wish I could have seen it when it was in its last years.
Wallieb26 let's face it our past eras.are getting erased which is sad cause tmrw teenagers will never be able to enjoy these malls to hang around in and see movies just enjoy been kids like us when we were kids..
Really? A mall from my childhood had a McDonald's, a Burger King, and an Arby's with their own dining areas. It also had a Friendly's dine-in location.
@@Prof_Jeff years and years ago, fast food all had its own food space. Food courts came into prominence in the 90’s. Shared space, low overhead cost, shared rent / leasing. Much more cost effective. It used to be all about the fast food and video arcades in malls years ago. And the girls 😍
@@WallieB26 I seen it, brought tears to my eyes, I've lived in this area most of my 46 years, has my first job at a car wash across from the mall, spend many weekends there as a teen, I know first hand what it was, their slogan was the "Friendliest mall of all" in the 80's and 90's, my ex wife was working there for a market research firm it closed in October 2019, but go around the corner the plaza is booming, Summit mall was opened in October 1965, I was working at the Goodyear auto service store, an original tenant move to the other side of summit mall in the fall of 2016 I was there on opening day, it's always busy and summit is doing well, as is Belden Village in N Canton, and South park in Strongsville.
