For those unaware of why Tucker was able to see the ghost with his "modified toy", it's actually a pretty interesting explanation. It's a well known fact among believers in the supernatural that spirits exist in a frequency that the human eye is not able to register. More often than not, some things like certain cameras or other devices that can see are able to pick up these frequencies.

I heard from somewhere that the sound at 0:59 is actually the crackling sound from the demon's claws. Which indicates that the device was able to pick up the demon's presence.

His shocked look reminds me of Chief Brody after he sees the shark for the first time as he walks backwards through the hallway, I just noticed that, John Woo really scored here with that jump scare BRAVO!
