Genuinely Dani. You've been a proper influence on me wanting to pursue this. Thank you for all you do and seeing this comment means a lot 👊 Seen your event win video! Congrats! It's on my list for tomorrow to watch!
Thanks for sharing this Matt, great advice from Daniel. Proper nice bloke and knows his stuff for sure. I'm sure you know this already as it seems you've done research, but learning checkout routes is huge. Always working on that personally, watching a bunch of darts helps a lot seeing all the ways the pros go. And with the Worlds not far away, what better time to watch! Look forward to following your journey, appreciate you sharing. Enjoy the process, have fun, and take care. Cheers
Thanks Tom, no couldn't agree more and glad you pointed that out. On reflection, my "2 darters" are pretty good now but my 3 dart route knowledge (even with single number included) is pretty non existent! Thank you for the advice and comment. Hopefully there is some Darts on TV coming up soon that I/we can watch.... 😉
Thx for sharint ❤ I had an online session with Daniel last week and i can only recommend it to everyone who's looking to improve 🎯🎯 My recommendation from him were mostly the same as yours except i have some work to do on the allignement of my elbow. But after hitting round 60-65 avg before the summer, i completly lost it tht to an injured shoulder and build it back to 55 now. Daniel's session was realy helpfull to help me build now on a better dartsfuture 🎯🎯 Good luck on your journey and throw them ;-)
Excellent video! Daniel is a great teacher and here, with the slower speed and matching critique, it's even easier to see what he's talking about and analyze your own flaws. I asked him about the problems I am having on another video and he told me what he thought I was doing wrong. It might not be my only problem but he was spot on with something I am doing wrong. This video definitely will help me a lot! I will go back to his videos and rewatch many. I will also watch yours, your journey will help others with theirs. Thank you!
@dartsmatt great video. I’m basically in the same boat as you. Been a golfer since 9 years old. Lowest handicap was 1.7. 7 holes in ones. A few good tournaments. And now with kids and work I don’t golf anymore. Picked up darts again and I’m all in. Have the board in the man cave. iPad on the wall. Cameras set up. Huge Green screen for backgrounds etc. completely addicted and a determined to get better. I absolutely suck right now. Afraid to check my average but it can’t be better than 40. My form feels good. My results are brutal. Looking forward to getting better.
Mate, literally the same boat. Thanks for the message. It's odd isn't it, I really thought after a year, I would be much better than I am! Like you, the golf mentally transitions really nicely but technically it hasn't been the case! Please keep in touch. I am on Twitter as DartsMatt and play online darts if you ever wanted to connect and fancied a game. Cheers and Merry Christmas
Really nice content! That’s some quality content of the actual technical part of the throw! I wish you would have made that video 2 years ago 😂 well done 👍
this content is great! i am on the same journey around the same level. this will be exciting to watch, keep em coming. also, i have been thinking about getting some straight to the point darts coaching myself
Thanks Ned, yes I think having that external eye does help. What I've found learning darts is you don't actually see your action. Often what you feel like you do and what you "actually" do are very different 😅👍 thanks for the comment and support!
Good insight given for sure. You will go nuts while trying to find consistency. As you practice at some point your competitive nature will come out. Play double in double out 301. Two scores. One score go in with double top. The other turn go in with double 16. Get in plan your leave take it out. Every dart matters. You will gain confidence quickly and finishing is the trick to increase dart average. Cheers!
@@Darts_Matt I wish you well with your quest. Ps a long follow through helps with the top of the board but complicates things the lower you go on the board. If you consistently shoot low on the bottom half your follow through may be a bit too long. Cheers!
I was the same, tried to move my golf brain to darts and it failed lol Also agree there is very little “actual” technique help videos out there compared to other sports. Will be watching 👀
Thanks mate, appreciate that. Yeah I understand Darts is a far simpler action. But like golf, you don't see yourself do it (if that makes sense). Having gone through the golf thing, I just thought it maybe easier that it is to play darts well. Thanks for jumping onto watch 👍👊 excited to start playing some comps and bringing it to the channel and see what happens!
Very interesting vid. I’ve got ability but not one of the naturals that can pick up a sport and have a wonderfully smooth action straight away. You don’t want to over think darts but when you’re not performing in matches the way you think you should, it’s probably down to a faulty technique that comes apart under pressure. Some really helpful points to learn from 👍
Thanks Seano and for getting involved in the channel. I greatly appreciate your feedback and yes, I catch myself being technical sometimes mid game, when I know it should be just aim and fire. Thanks for the kind words! Maybe a game on Nakka sometime?
Great video!!! Similar to myself, off scratch and feel darts is like golf in sense that it involves a lot of practice. Been thinking about having some lessons. I’m getting better but it’s a hard game like golf!! Well done bud
It’s like you are talking directly to me! Similar background, similar starting point, similar current point. I also contacted Daniel and had the exact same lesson and exact came comments on my throw. SCARY. I couldn’t believe the lack of info out there as well. I couldn’t get my elbow to stop turning so I now draw back to side of head. It’s going well so far. More the dynamite Dave method.
Thanks Thomas, appreciate the kind words, watching and for subscribing. Sounds like it really resonated with you. It also sounds like you're improving buddy. Do you play in a league or anything competitive?
@@Darts_Matt yes, I’ve started to play in a league and that motivated me to practise a bit more. I still can’t get rid of the elbow turn. How did you get rid of yours?
Hi Matt . How long was the lesson for . My darts have been in decline for around 18 months now and im watching Daniels videos and I feel slightly better . I have totally changed my grip of my dart and it has helped . I was awful always throwing low but I'm finding it easier getting higher now . This has just been last 2 weeks . Have always struggled with follow throw though which I think is result of years of Dartitis. Funnily enough I have found myself drawing back slower with dart coming back under my line of site and feels better and this was just through my own analysis.
Glad to hear that this change is starting to feel better mate! The lesson was only me sending the video from the angles. For context it was still a year of work before my averages started to improve. You can see this in my other videos that only in the last 3/4 months. I am starting to improve. If you play online, shout for a game sometime! Cheers for the comment and good luck
@@Darts_Matt Actually I'm a born and raised Dodgers fan in Los Angeles. Shohei is finally gonna have a chance to win! I'm new to darts and not very good...yet. Been following STTP for a while and now I'm subscribed to your channel too.
@@1972vulture thanks Sean, that's awesome to hear. Next time I am over (not sure when that may be) we will go for a game! Harsh but true! You probably are looking forward to next season now!
@@Darts_Matt It's great when the team you support can invest $1.2 billion on 3 players in the course of a week! We're on track to be the most hated club in MLB next season. Can't wait!
I too came from a high level background and I was flabbergasted by how little technical info there is. After playing and watching heavily immersed for a year it is clear why there isn’t.
Thanks Andy. Hope you're having a good weekend. I understand that there has been a slight price increase due to his popularity and hugh quality. Check this link out and thanks for watching. straighttothepointdarts.co.uk/https-square-online-app-website-users-138733095-sites-967509963149541875-dashboard-editor-product-5-preview/
Thank you sir! It's a bit odd tbh. But hopefully the lesson helps people! Just need to learn how to do what I've been taught lol 😂 appreciate the comment!
let me help with putting something in to words that isn't done often.... dart Rhythm has everything to do with breathing. We all know that you want to keep your body 100% still while throwing. we also know that when we breath our shoulders raise and lower. If we take some basic hunting knowledge, that when you pull the trigger you want to breath out not in. If you breath in you lift the gun... Same with a dart... What your looking for with rhythm is how fast you breath. If you watch the pdc players you will see most of them emphasize their exhale. They probably do this to make sure they are throwing on rhythm.
Rick, this is some great advice and only something I noticed recently on a Target Darts vid on Twitter with Glen Durant. But when you're my level it's the last thing in your mind. You think of rhythm as just speed when actually as you point out, more to it to set yourself to achieve good rhythm. Thank you for this, and watching my video! If you ever fancy a game sometime on Nakka, please hit me up!
Unfortunately I did the Straight to the point dart throw analysis. It was a waste of $83 dollars. I’m still doing the same old bad habits. I wish I could find someone who could work with me in person. I think that’s the only way I will change and improve my throw.
AHH I am sorry to hear that Albert, I would say I do go through these periods also. Shame about the lesson, I know it doesn't work for everyone. Thanks for messaging, happy to message directly anytime on Telegram to support
No this is not a period!!! This is 4 years of a steady decline. I was a 59 average now I’m around a 37 average. When I first started playing darts in 2016. I picked up the dart and threw it. Then about 4 1/2 years ago, I started reading about eye dominance and all the other stuff. Stance, grip etc… that was the worst thing I ever did!! I really don’t think I will ever be good again!!!
@@AlbertJones-ly6zg righto,.I her you Albert. Very annoying. Can't say anything to help but hope you either work through it or remember what u were doing!
@@Darts_Matt my advice as an overthinker is this for what it is worth. Stop thinking. All I needed was the follow through. Slow pull back and faster forward and follow through making sure I do follow through. That is all. Forget everything else. My average doing this went up from 45 to 60 and getting better. I have bad days but I remember to stop thinking and decelerate, accelerate and follow through. Works every time
Cheers buddy, if you would like anymore details happy to chat. I'm on Twitter and my email is arrowsmatt@gmail.com ! Thanks for following along mate, legend
Hey Moritz, it's more beginning to release and let go of the dart earlier. Check out Straight to the point darts video. His explain well. Thanks for commenting!
Hi matt, great to see you doing well.im just starting out myself,I've trained hard for the past month,I'm buying a webcam and a light for my board this week, would be great to have a game online.ive joined gdl as well.maybe at some point we could meet up at a competition, having had a game outside of my home so I'll be crapping myself ha.
Hi David, thanks for this, great to hear your finding your feet in darts. You will love the GDL, great community and place to learn the game! I'm always up for that! I play live on a Monday if you wanted to jump on, or outside of that anytime. Best way to message direct is on Telegram 🤙 thanks for joining the comp aswell in May, appreciate it and GL!
Thanks for showing the coaching video. I’m getting back to darts after a several decade layoff, and the wrist turning is my nemesis. I want to get my throw a little more consistent before going for coaching, and I think the tips you showed will help. Thanks to you and Straight to the Point!
I can’t right now, taking care of a sick wife, still working, etc. I’ll keep practicing and, at some point, will get set up for it. I have a board setup similar to yours. They sure have improved from the old days! When I do get set up, I’ll come back here and see if you’re up to it. Cheers!
Sorry to hear mate. That's tough but great to hear you got your priorities nailed. Good man. When the time is right or you got a spare eve or 2, feel free to reach me Twitter for a game. It's also DartsMatt. Wishing your wife all the best and the family.
That actually is the sad thing. 32. Played golf my whole life and got to a "semi-pro level" can't really remember much of it. Hoping by vlogging as I go learning about darts, meeting people and improving I will have this in years to come 👍 just some honest escapism
I’ve been playing 9 months with practice most days and I hit regular 180s and lowest average is around 60 and best is upto 114, I think practice makes perfect and the more you throw the better you get with the finishing end of the game, keep throwing and will keep improving
I am very jealous mate! Fantastic throwing. I'm way behind that curve but trying to figure it out! Hopefully will document as I improve. Thanks for commenting, big year for you. 9 months to that level is quality
Well I started in a local league June time won some lost some, had a few pre game nerves to get over and in the local league only lost 2 games this season, hoping to keep up the practice and go straight to Qschool in 2025, everyone’s journey I guess is different but most important thing is to be enjoying it or else there’s not much point
