We bought this machine at Best Buy for $350 and are totally satisfied with it. For everyday wear, set machine to NORMAL, open lid, add clothes, put detergent directly on the clothes, close lid, press power, and start button, and walk away. Machine does the rest. We add water for heavier loads though.
ross ross I’ve been looking at a replacement washer and came across this video and your review. Is the machine still serving you well? I’m considering buying it in the very near future.
Got one exactly like this. It’s a good washing machine. When I first hooked it up I didn’t realize the fact it was new technology and it functions just a bit different than our old GE that is around 25 years old. Anyway the sales person did not give us a operation manual so I looked up how to on RU-vid. And discovered that this machine will not start water until it adjust the clothes for balance only after it gets to balance it will start the washing cycle. Humm New technology. So to be honest this machine works flawlessly hope to get at lees 25 years out of this one too. Thank for your video and all your information. Good luck with yours
Indeed, it does that. Makes no sense because, as it spins with NO WATER, the clothes pile up on one side. Crazy. Only setting to stop doing such silly stuff is the Quick Wash. Then the water pours out immediately. What I do on normal wash cycle, is keep the clothes out of the washer, let it spin (takes about a minute) until the water begins, THEN put in the clothes and spread them out as is should be. So far it doesn't seem to affect the water level. I have no clue as to who engineered this washer, but maybe they were on a DUI when at the drafting table.
@@beecnul8rI had this issue as well, that’s the washer sensing the load size. What I do is either let it sense it, then pause and fix the clothes OR (what I usually do) I just choose the load size manually myself. It won’t spin without water anymore and immediately start putting water. Sensing is the last thing I do on this washer anymore. It tends to bunch the clothes to one side, making it unbalanced.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I've watched numerous videos of washing machines trying to decide which to buy and the truth is, I miss the washing machines made before the year 2000. They were just plain better. Yes, they used water, but man, the agitators in those things were workhorses. I might check my local classifieds for an oldie.
I agree! We (ironically) got ours from a neighbor for free when they were moving. Manufactured in 1999 and we are just now replacing it with this one. We’ve had it for about 10 years AFTER the original owners. She was rusty but got the job done🤣
Oh you GUYS WERE THE BEST. YOU HAD ME DYING LAUGHING😂😂😂😂😂 I cant stand these new machines. I had one like this for 4 years. It was brand new and it broke!!!!! Now I just ordered this one. So thanks for this video. None of these new machines put enough water in. You guys are so funny AND IT TAKES FOREVER TO FINISH!!!!!! I can tell I won’t really like this one either. But it is better than going to laundromat So Thank God for that 😊🙏
Thanks for this video I just bought this washer and it just arrived.. I figured out a few things out when I used it then when I watched your video after, you guys were saying everything I had already noticed while I was using it like how you can’t change the water temperature after u already started it, I had started the cycle and noticed it was on warm and I couldn’t change it to hott.. thanks for the video, it was helpful because I was not sure if I was using it right because its quite different from the front loader I had before and for the people that’s asking if it’s a good washing machine or not in my opinion me myself I don’t like it because it’ make this annoying noise while it’s washing, you see no soap suds in the washing machine the water is clear, the area where u put the detergent if you use liquid, it just falls right through the whole and it never fills up the area so u have no idea if you are using the right amount for this particular washing machine.. it’s just a few things I do not like about it.
Yes that’s the only thing I don’t like I don’t see suds and I feel like if there no suds it’s not cleaning so I put a lot of soap and than at the end they smell really good
Just learn how to repair a washer yourself and you’ll never have a problem you can’t fix! I like the washer, I got mine used and it works great. I just look up how to repair top load washers online, most all are built exactly the same anyway.
Wow maybe I’m the only one but this machine works great for us. Bought a new Maytag HE that was apiece of crap. It used hardly any water and the clothes didn’t come out clean! This has the traditional agitator and a high load capacity. ( can wash a king size comforter). Very happy with it.
@@joelatti1967 yes. If I remembrer correctly we removed the small carpet that we were washing and let the machine finish the cycle. The washer was unbalanced by that single piece. We restarted it with more clothes as a new load and it work. Hope this is helpful.
Hi Did your washing machine have a brand new chemical smell when you first got it ? If so did it go away on it's own or did you do something to make it go away?
I have a MIDEA washer, and it's basically the same digital system. I wanted a basic machine my hubby wanted a glass top loader with agitator. I don't have an issue with the agitator, my issue is all of the digital confusion. It seems like it's always washing in delay mode. How to just put your clothes in start your machine and call it a day!
Just had one of these delivery from Best Buy today. Put in about 3/4 basket In laundry. Set to quick wash. It said the process would be 38 minutes. The wash cycle finished. On the rinse cycle the water keep loading eternally. Eventually E1 code came on. I paused and opened the lid and shuffled the clothes then I closed the lid and pressed start. The rinse water started going into the machine for a very long time until the E1 code came on again. Now I have to take the wet clothes out of the washer and take to a laundromat. I’m will return this machine to Best Buy
IMO, it is insane to allow clothes to spin, which means they all pile up on one section of the tub. Makes no sense at all. What I do is wait until the water actually comes on, which takes about one full minute, then add in the clothes. The "auto water level detector" works just fine without all this blather.
So how is it doing now? This looks like a good washer in fact when my maytag went down I was going to buy this washer. Only thing I didn’t like was it’s slower spin speed
Thank you for explaining how the "Water Plus" button works. I was getting so frustrated with the puny amount of water I was getting in my loads. My only other complaint/question is, why do my water pipes bang and thump?
I have the same exact machine! Had it installed a few weeks ago. I want to use cold water, but for some reason the clothes always come out warm and the glass lid always steams up as it washes. Could it have something to do with the water pressure or the valve?
This washer came with a house we just moved into. The drum will not rotate at all and just makes a grunting noise like it's trying to move, but nothing happens.
Just bought this washer and can't seem to find a way to get the washer to NOT aggitate my clothes without water in the beginning. It takes it directly to wash mode. I want to rinse my clothes first !!! But nope... The rinse mode never happens it skills to wash! Wtf!
Yes, it has ruined my clothes and blankets. I put two bath towels in bottom if washer then clothes on top. Been great since I started doing that. After I dry the clothes I take two towels and put on bottom of washer for next load. If I had another load after first one, you have to put dry towels in cause the agitator will go on and on and hardly stop with dry clothes on top of the wet towels and ruin the load. So puting dry towels down first the agitator hardly touches your clothes to ruin in the beginning.
Crap spend 30 min waiting for the water to come. When it spin dry I got worry. User manual does not explain that the machine will spun dry 1st! No clue why. Thanks for sharing ..
I just bought an open box one at Best Buy for $250 with a 5 year warranty for $100. $350 isn’t bad for something that’s going to break anyway. At least they’ll fix it for 5 years. All of these washers are crap. This is my 3rd one in 7 years. So we’ve got 2 broken ones sitting in the basement now smh. The broken ones are GT (leaked out the bottom) and Whirlpool (weight sensor can’t detect clothes) smh
Some of the cycles take 24 hours. Babysitting each wash is a pain. This insignia set is my first from Best Buy. Babysitting is exactly keeping an eye on each load. The amount of time isn’t what it is. I’ve checked the balance throughout the 24 hours of washing.
Mine keeps saying E1 and I looked that up and keep seeing people saying that means a clogged filter but it’s brand new only used twice I can’t imagine that’s the problem!
Mine has locked up and I have not been able to open it. Does anyone know how I can open my lid insignia customer care left me hanging for 58 minutes and hung up
My insignia washer keeps overflowing and the time doesn't change and the water keeps overflowing. I bought it last week. Is there anything I can do to fix it instead of exchanging it?
I LOVE my Insignia washer. The only thing that twists is bedding but if you change to a slower agitator setting it won’t. It is pretty quiet and does a very good job cleaning our clothes. I feel spoiled to have this nice washer.
Maybe your Washer is malfunctioning because I have the exact same washer and there is a water shut off level preventing it was filling right to the top.
I just bought one & I’m Better off spinning my clothes in a bucket. It has the power of a toddler. After 50min of Normal washing mode my tide pods were still intact.
Does anyone’s make a “thud thud thud thud” when on the spin cycle? Just bought it, first load we put in, about half full of towels. The entire cycle went great and then the spin cycle seemed to be a bit odd, just until the very end then those “thuds” stopped and it ran for a minute or two then it was done. It seeks balanced to me using a level. I just don’t want to damage the machine.
Just found out this washer is made in China. Hmm? Also, it appears that this unit tears into cloths. I am seeing holes in my towels and sheets. Some other folks reported on this same issue.
I have to be fair on my comments on this washer. After using it awhile kinda like it now but two things bug me about it. One the way it moves the clothes in the beginning on the cycle with no water it bunches them in a ball hmmm! My son says his a different brand does this also I think that is hard on the clothes or could be. Not sure why it does this some say it is weighing them to adjust the water level but I stop it and rearrang them as the manual says clothes should be evenly put in which I already know hmmm! So that's kinda weird the machine does that and the clothes are all pushed to one side makes no since to me. Second the cycle is very long 75 minutes most of the time which makes me wonder on my electric bill how it will affect that. I decided to keep it the clothes do come out clean it is not so noisy not any different really than any other washer I've heard just a different sound. Oh well that's it for the money I'am ok with this washer now that I have figured how to use it . I will do rugs at the laundry mat or wash in the tub. Hope this helps others and I will miss my Maytag and Whirlpool but you never know this one may pass the test of time !!!
This washer has ruined my blankets, blouses and other items. Why agitate the clothes dry? I learned to put two bath towels in bottom of washer then put laundry items on top. Pretty much no more torn up or stretched out clothes. Like the guy says in video, "have to babysit this washer."... Lol... Yes, we do, yes we do...lol
hi, pls if you can help me and my machine issue, how can you erase the error code from my insignia washer? I unplugged it for a long time and changed the new part but the error won't be erased. or can be recalibrated? thanks.
To reset the electronic controls on your washer, shut off the circuit breaker or fuse to the washer or unplug the washer for 2 minutes. For models that have a timer control knob, turn the knob around and back to any position other than final spin for the interrupted cycle. Then, restore power thanks for watching good luck ted
I have this washer and it won’t start, it’s used bought from seller. It started when we first purchased but now there’s a clicking sound and machine won’t start. I read it could be the lid lock? If it’s broken machine won’t start? Anyone have this issue?
Have you got Fd error code? The manual says this code means Lid lock failed and contact customer care. No matter how I turned off the power, unplugged and turned back on, it keeps this indication on and the lid remains locked. Do you have any idea how to open the lid?
Hi Sachie I just had this happen to me that the lid will not open it gives me the FD message what did you end up doing to open and fix it... thanks for your time....
@@melballossas3300 Hello Melba, oh no...the same thing happened to you? A technician came last June and ordered new parts, however the shipping hasn't arrived since then. No matter how many times I have called the customer service, they say it keeps delaying. It's been nearly 8 months..! I have so regretted that I had purchased this washer...
Hi Sachie hust so you know my husband had to saw it open and to wash we have to disconnect the fuses then put them back together then wash. Insignia customer service referred me to the geek squad and tgen they referred me back to insignia never again deal with them no good!!!
@@melballossas3300 It's awful...your husband managed to open it and put it back together. Their customer services are in endless circles, having me transferred to another lines a few times and then back to the original line. They do not know what they do. I even went into the Best Buy store in a mall, however they said Best Buy online has nothing to do with the store. It is just frustrating to deal with them.
This washer is bad, but other brands are worse. The reason is - they are "new". No hope here. Do not get rid of your old washer, no matter how old it is. Spend whatever it takes to fix it, it will still WAY better that those new pieces of trash.
I like my “trash “ better then my old one. My laundry is cleaner and we don’t get itchy anymore due to insufficient rinsing and we’ve cut down on detergent costs because you don’t need to use so much!
If I put alot of stuff in mine it goes off balance and gives me E3 code then it wont spin water out . I hate mine. I want to give it away. I have had service guys come out and they say it's fine. I like to put alot of stuff in my washer. You cant with this one. I still have my 13 yr old machine that I should have fixed.
I just bought a Midea version on sale for $250. It is trash! It operates and looks just like this one. My old GE washer did a load in 15 minutes this takes at least 45 on quick wash.
Oh my filthy sheets it's on extra heavy setting ,it's on extra filthy.. extra heavy duty nasty.. extra heavy.. did I say extra heavy.. my extra heavy duty filthy sheets... Oh man I know you're being serious and you're just explaining what's going on but I was on the floor with the extra heavy duty dirty sheets thing..
I would rather have a Whirlpool Direct Drive top loading washing machine or a Speed Queen top loading washing machine made until 2017. None of this high efficiency shit!!!
Worst washer ever. Mine balls the clothes up in a ball before trying to spin and then shuts down due to unbalanced load. You cannot set load size and all problems come from going back and forth to weigh the load. Water level is too low, doe not cover clothes when rinsing. The drum itself dies not spin, just the agitator and the base inside the drum.
We just got this washer at home I thought it was broke because it automatically went to wash instead of soak I recommend you don’t buy it because it sucks it works so slow
Maxiuis Knight yes but in my opinion it still goes slow but if your not thinking about it and time passes by it’s kind of fast the washer automatically goes to wash and it’s like it’s measuring the clothes and then it takes a couple of minutes for it to start putting the water it but if it’s not enough water you can always click add water
I don’t even like the way it wash the clothes it barely moves to wash the clothes wtf and it don’t look like y’all had enough washing power in the load either and who wants to stand by the washer and make sure it’s washing your clothes correctly I want a washer t all I have to do is put the clothes in set it and the washer does the rest I don’t have time for know extra BS 🤔
This is the worst washing machine I’ve ever had. The clothes get twisted all up In the agitator really really bad, you have to go and untangle a bunch of clothes, you have to babysit the machine keep constantly starting it back up because it constantly gets off balanced so it can possibly take 2 hours for the clothes to wash because of it constantly stopping.. then it continues to pour more and more and more water throughout the cycle just seem like something wasn’t right like that was way too much water. I advise nobody to buy this one.
Piece of junk machines. Glad it seems to work for others but this thing is nothing but issues. Parts that cost more than the entire machine to replace. Constant error codes. Machine deciding to do whatever it wants at random. Prone to leaks in multiple spots ect..... not sure if I just got the only one that happened to be a trash can but I highly doubt it. Would recommend buying almost ANY other washer.
