Going to be honest here; I subscribed because I saw an affable hillbilly with a hilarious aesthetic (logger wade) on another channel. What I’ve come to learn is wade is an intellectual, an infectious personality, and a humble leader. Great qualities and I’m happy too have found the channel. Thanks for the thoughts and inspiration, Wade. Hope 2o24 is a great year with much success.

Sounds like you have been doing some growing this year brother. I’m proud of you. Being a small business owner (especially being responsible for other people’s livelihood) you ALWAYS have to be evolving. The rest of the world is moving ahead (new processes, tools, techniques and developments) and if you just keep running your operations the same way without considering that there may be improvements you will get left behind. The hardest part of growing is realizing you need to grow. Once again good job and I’m proud of you. Wish I lived closer so I could catch some of the shine coming off of you. We’ol be watching here on RU-vid. God bless.

Wade, intelligence is not defined by IQ. It's defined by the ability to learn. You, Sir, in my humble opinion are an absolute genius. Open to new ways of thinking and not blinkered to "that's how we've always done it" Wishing you every success for the future 👍

Wade,I really have liked your video and the ones since you have returned. They are real and show logger Wade growing to fit shoes he never thought of. I worked in a steam-powered sawmill when I was young. Most of the people who work in mills and are not responsible for repairs and blades. The difference in understanding planer blades, band saw blades, and head saw blades, everything from the speed, angle, shape, tooth shape tension, the complex skills of cutting. We are never too old to learn, and sometimes off of somebody we take for granit, the Day that you think that you cannot be taught or learn something, you may as well jump in a hole! I like to see people who are lost and embedded in there exploration of what life deals in front of us. I like you sharing your enlightening expansion of your growth and wisdom. Oh Mike says he is still better looking than you?

Wade, you need to step back a little further. We are not in a recession generally but some fields were hit extra hard this year. Yours and anything construction were hit by those interest rates. Good news is they will be dropping soon since the FED hit it's targets already and are in watch and wait but signalling drops. Yes, it is good to find other avenues just for these hard times. Construction is always cyclical and I started swinging a hammer in 1965. So many times I watched the floor drop out from under us without warning, but the guys who could flex always found a way. Happy I am retired and don't have to ride that dragon anymore but I feel ya. Lumber will be back but keep those other options open and manage several dances at once. The greedy guy who puts it all in one basket will suffer but the guy who does it all has a chance. You are on the right track and wishing you a fantastic 2024. Just remember easy on the borrowing even in the good times. Do what you have to but so many go hog wild and pay for it later. Onward and up to new heights. Veneer, ties, staves, RR needs, even mining timbers all have a place in the markets and diversification is good. Ya focus on your main product in the good times, but keep a toe in the others for the not so good times. Connections are the currency of the day.

I may have said this before but it doesn’t hurt to repeat it. I met Wade at the Louisville Expo in 2021(?) at a Hyundai meet and greet. Several RU-vidrs were there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Excellent advice, in the power industry they do lots of talking on the phone to solve, diagnose, and negotiate problems. One of the hardest things to do is to train yourself to listen to what someone says and actually hear it. It’s to easy to hear what you expect to hear and not what was actually said when your in a confusing situation. Great videos, always find the process in the mill interesting. Wishing you and your family the best. FYI from the DP channel it’s frequently come up that Jason refuses to mention where he works. I was guessing and you confirmed. 😂 Sucks when you work for an employer that doesn’t have a sense of humor, thankfully I’m retired now and the pressure is off, that being said I’ve felt his pain in the past.

The one thing I had to learn was I had to stop being afraid of being wrong and afraid to ask for help from others. Once I learned that I started seeing a whole different picture of how to do things better. Sometimes a new set of eyes or a new opinion on how to do it makes a huge difference on the outcome.

Great vidja Wade. I think the biggest mistake companies make is they don't utilize the equipment they have. They cost the company to much money with stuff just setting around not making the company money. To many company leaders have to many wants instead of needs. Some companies pass poor management alone to the consumer., but some cant and just sink. Just my opinion. Have a good one. I'll show this vidja to my banker lol

Haven’t heard that saying in quite awhile, it is true, I have lived it sir. I would like to recommend a book to you that leans toward leadership, or dealing with productive people that are looking to you to give direction, I read thru it once a year as a refresher, it’s called The Way Of The Shepard, from Dr. Kevin Leman and Bill Pentak. Leaders are learners, consistent learners, if you stop learning you stop growing, get yourself a shovel, dig a hole, crawl in, because you are as good as dead if you stop learning. Thanks Logger Wade, enjoyed the video, I see and hear a positive change in you, stay the course.

Great observations, Wade! I feel like adding these: A Dutch book on computer programming started with: if it takes 5 minutes to boil an egg, how long will it take to boil two eggs? - Right, it depends... I met a woman who had photography as a hobby, but at a level that had her expose panel-sized photos in Amsterdam town hall (and elsewhere). We were the first ones to arrive for a meeting. She was attracted by the dish of cookies to be had with our coffee, and suggested to me several ways (approaches, filters) to look at the cookies: as a symbol of hospitality (or not, depending on the properties and the number of the cookies), as an announcement of the coffee to come, as a geometric figure, as a composition of colors, ... (I'm trying to remember whatever examples she gave.)

Great vidja as always tater. If you think about failure as you failed then it will eat at you, but if you look at failure as a way that didn't work it helps in the long run to get the end result you want. Think of it like this, when the light bulb was invented and it took 1000 tries to get to work was that 999 failures... No, that was just 999 ways it didn't work. Never let anyone say it can't be done. I'm personally the type person that if you tell me it can't be done then I'm going to figure out how to make it possible. Always set out for the day that you're going to learn something. A day to me is waisted if nothing is learned. With that learning comes better ways to solve problems. There is always things to learn from and improve on. Always strive to be better than the day before. Be open to change on the path of learning. Like you said if you back up and look around a small change is a lot easier than a 90 or even a 180. I can honestly say this that watching you on here has make me a better person and I have learned things from you that if you weren't on here I probably wouldn't have seen, learned, or even thought of different ways to do things I was doing. On a side note with the drops off the tie cuts have y'all ever thought about asking any of the mechanic shops around you if they need cribbing. I know when I was working on equipment all the time we kept stacks of them around just in case we needed them. Thank you in so many ways and hope everyone has a great 2024.

Hello Wade, thank you for this very interesting video. Mike Simmons aka "Dirt Perfect" made a video of a round table discussion with "Farmer Chris" and Aaron "MBTS" and the topic was "How to help their very good childhood friend "Logger Wade" come back to making videos for youtube and here you are back! At timestamp 12:38 you were describing the anatomy of our brains and I thought I would offer some advice. The front of our brain is called the cerebrum which includes the frontal lobes, The cerebral cortex is basically the thick outer layer on top of our brain and the back is the occiput. The limbic system is at the base or top of the spinal column along with several other brain structures. This has nothing to do with managing a logging operation or how to run a big sawmill which you have done successfully for a very long time, but you asked for comments so I did. (PS: I'm not an expert and don't claim to be anything other than an old retired guy) Cheers Wade.

correct Wade life is simple so we make it harder, why because we love challenges, we love problems, that's what got us here, where we are at, the village used to raise the children, we should have remembered that, but we had to go hunting to feed the family the community so we leave the kids with someone who is maybe older and does cooking, so while we hunt the kids learn a bit of cooking, we got to go fishing in the sea, so we leave the kids with Maggie the pottery laddie and her husband, the kids learn a bit of pottery, that's how it used to be, now we leave the kids with a teacher problem is no matter what they do they can't teach them anything like the village, they try and fail, so the chief comes to their rescue and says just teach them how to do the basics, now the kids can never sit for a while with a professional who teaches them profesional tricks of the trade, just by doing their job and the kids learn by watching, teacher can never do that, why cuase the dont do these things every day, I hope this makes some sense.
