With reference to the older systems ..I did an EICR for a lady as an "electrician" said she could go to jail for the old fuse board ...he quoted £1000 for a new board in a 2 bed flat... they make me sick . I say to customers that are worried about their old fuse boards "Would you be happy to drive around in an old Jaguar or Rolls Royce?" Always the answer is yes "Well , they don't have air bags or ABS etc does that mean they are unsafe ?"

The caravan hook up only has single pole overcurrent protection. It is annoying that they’ve not identified the black as neutral. The idea of de-neutralising the black sounds good, but there’s no real reason to do so. The use of mixed manufacturer’s equipment in the DB is not necessarily a problem, as long as the breaking capacity is greater than the PFC. The DB is obviously not type tested, but then again is it domestic? It’s not obvious that the connector block under the floor is inaccessible.

Would you need to be competent to install supports is there a course or e learning to provide competent status bit like fire stopping we have to do it but are we competent to do so

As far as i am concerned inspecting and testing , mainly the certification / report is so far over the top its ridiculous, An EICR of 6 pages , 2 reports a day 3 days 36 sheets of paper REALLY, Gas safe landlords is 1 page , just my personal opinion , been doing this for 25 years

Gas safe is completely different and has no comparison.

@@SparkyNinja Gas is consider more important in realms of safety, otherwise you wouldn't be barred from installing it unless registerd, My grievence with the certification of EICR is excessive pages of unnecessary pages of forms to fill out ( thus comparing it with Gas Report), First of all you need to be technically competent and an expert in this field to carry out testing & inspection. therfore you dont need excessive forms of items to inspect (basically a tick ;list) , if i see a deviation i will record it, , if i see a cable not supported i noted it , same with most things, dont need a list saying what to tick , how long before you asked to list what clothing you have on or breakfast you had. This report could be cut down to 3 pages max,Clent name , contractor details, installation details & circuit detail result, recommendation (if any) This just my personal opinion Unfortuately thes forms are contructed and design by THe IET, Jpel, in black ties on golf courses, not by practicing sparks, As i say just my view
