the strangest thing about this game is that they have a system that automatically detects incorrect documentation, and it's used exclusively to punish the guy working the booth rather than just having that do the admissions
At first I thought the chat was onscreen from the stream, but then I noticed the way its positioning changes on the fly and fades away when going to gameplay as well means you have to have added that in editing. It looks pretty great!
Joe helped EZIC right up until they went mask-off to make their big play, betrayed them at their most vulnerable point, and fled the country with his family. Unfathomably based ending.
From "Oh I like spot the difference :)" to MW2 Makarov "No, this is a message." *DENY STAMP SOUNDS* "Impor will see what has happened here today." In the span of a single in-game day. Almost impressive.
For anyone who plays this and finds themselves struggling, 2 very strong tips: You don't need to buy food and heat every day. Alternate days is fine. You don't need to formally identify issues until you get the REASON stamp or if you want to detain them. If I remember correctly, there are even people who would be ok if you prompted them that something looked wrong, but you still don't get a citation for rejecting them. Eg, name is wrong, if you asked they could provide fingerprints that prove they're the person, but rejecting without identifying the issue is also accepted.
Another tip if you wanna get real good at it: really *look* at the map. Arstotzka borders Kolechia, and Arstotzka is *east,* so Kolechia has West Grestin, and Arstotzka has East Grestin. Impor is like Japan, so the names sound Japanese. United Fed. has almost “American-y” names. You get the point. The only issue is with Antegria and Republia, as I can’t really find anything for them.
Another very good tip is that the first person every day is meant to teach you about the new rules. The first person after the seals get stolen will have forged seals, the first person after the wanted bulletin is wanted, etc. Check for the new rules first to save time.
Another tip is that people only have one issue, VERY rarely they have two separate issues, but once you solve the first issue you can either deny or approve them without much worry. Also, workers seem to have issues less often than other people, especially the engineers after the scouting guy comes through they will always be good to go through. And lastly, serial numbers will always have their issue immediately, you don't even have to read past the first 2 characters, which can help save time. P.S. learning to sight read is also an excellent skill for this game
I've to give Joe credit, he seems to be okay with "got the bed ending" or "got not perfect ending" while stuff like this would ate me away and made me to replay a game.
this guy proceeds to help ezic through some of the most important tasks but on the eve of the revolution, sabotages them at their most critical point, only to bail on the country entirely and flee across the border, simultaneously dooming everyone who lives there to a life of even worse tyranny as ezic has gone mask off, and failed, while not having to suffer a single moment under it. Bravo.
43 mins in he did send everyone he could to gulag for money but he didn't took any bribe because he was loyal to country who didn't payed him enough to keep his family alive and when he takes the bribe he detains the guy who would fix the investigation on him he didn't checked genders and expiration dates back to back sometimes
i love the chat going "this is communism to me" when Joe's talking about sudden, unfair rent increases. Pretty sure we have those in capitalism, comrades
Genuine question, is Arzachksa or whatever actually supposed to be a communist country? Like every other "underdeveloped" country operates just like this, underappreciated labor and horrible wages, etc. and 99% are capitalist no? Even the U.S. and co are barely any different, the numbers just look prettier.
@@hiddenleafdrip3869 Its meant to have the Iron curtain feel in aesthetics, but the game doesn't really go into detail about modes of production or the consequences. Weirdos just use video games to reinforce their world views for some reason. Just look at hoi4 players for an example.
that feeling when you find an awesome channel on youtube, with great and well thought video essays about game design, you cherish the long hours of awesome content... Then you find a channel with his stream shorts and all of this goes to hell, because you're from Impor....
had to double check when this was streamed, since the chat didn't literally explode after one lady said the word "imposter" it MUST have been before amogus was released 25:20
Im realizing he's the exact opposite of me, who let every beggar through on their first run and just let as many people through as quickly as possible until i beat the game LOL
You're absolutely killing it with these edits. I love all the little touches and gags you add to it. I know I'd never have gone through some of these old streams without you!
genuinely forgot how the whole gender spectrum was taken back then lmao, i know its just a sign of the times but holy hell 90% of that shit would be ban worthy now
This explains a lot lmao, half the stuff in chat nowadays is about convincing Joe to like hentai. Every time I glanced at the chat in this vid it was just generic streamer chat (aka everybody's just weird in a lame way).
I don’t understand how the the game is supposed to be set in a communist setting (I could be just blind tho) But yeah, not much you can do when there’s a dictatorship
@@tartipouss technically stalin did have a dictatorship, still almost every other mainstream ideology also had a similar dictatorship My assumption is because the game looks Russian-isk and "Russia=communism" maybe
@@twinkiesmaster69 Summary: Russia wasn't even communist (communism was never achieved long term in any country) The game is set in a VERY capitalist and authoritarian environement. If the game was communist there wouldn't even be any money or state to begin with (communism = stateless, classless, moneyless society. So yeah) So I quickly googled it, and Arstotzka is a fictional country supposed to be a small part of the Russia, and the game is set during 1982, so that doesn't help a lot as we can't use history to know the politics used by this country other than in the game (which none of them are communist). But the game does seem to be using so called "communist propaganda" image which were used during the USSR (Stalin) in the form of the small pro-Arstotzka imagery we can see during the few cutscene. Tho... other than these few imagery, and associating "Russian" country with communism because of real life propaganda (The Red Scare during the Cold War). There really is literally not a single element pointing toward even the tiniest bit of communism. I mean... it's pretty obvious when you think about it, the setting is fully capitalist (there's not even healthcare lmao and you just die if you don't make enough money to buy rent/food/medicine). So I guess they said it was communist because of... ignorance, probably.
@@tartipoussthat's just "communism has never been attempted" cope though. Communism never works out because there is no incentive or regulatory body to guarantee it working. The failed state you see IS the communist state.
@@nanashi7779 "Yikes" refers to something someone said or did which was bigoted or otherwise mean. For example, you can see in the chat that whenever a terrorist attack happens in-game, an emote of someone who looks Arabic is posted by chatters, reinforcing the stereotype that Arabic people are violent. Someone else might respond to these chatters' posts by saying "Yikes", so as to indicate that what this person said is bigoted or otherwise mean. Usually it refers to some kind of bigotry but can also be used to refer to stuff which is generally mean.
love this video. came into it thinking i'd just put it on the background but ended up watching all of it. love the joke edits and the ending was just perfect. great job!
It’s very interesting how he can go from pretty dense at some points, then do a complete heel turn and have the most sound and just reasoning you’ve ever heard.
Communism would be great. But best we mere mortals can prob do is socialism. Market Socialism is my goal. More democracy in the workplace, more democracy in our government, more even wealth equality. This we can do. Minority rule is cringe (conservatives and religious people want minority rule).
@@Winasaurus Governments become corrupt when wealth and power are allowed to concentrate, so the ideal of a democratic government is to prevent that from happening. The ideal of a private entity is just to amass wealth and power in the first place; corporations are openly corrupt by default. Additionally, most of the governmental corruption we have now is a result of private groups being allowed to influence politicians with money and favors. There are a lot of different versions of Communism and many even contradict each other, but a central ideal among most involves decentralizing power structures. The person you responded to actually mentioned as much: "minority rule is cringe". It's also literally in the name; where "Capital" -ism is a system organized around the power of capital, i.e. ownership of societal assets like resources and infrastructure, "Commune" -ism is a system organized around the power of communities. The goal is genuinely to achieve self-government down to the smallest levels of social organization.
that's what stood out to you? not the racist stuff such as spamming anele emote when the guards got attacked and self boom'd? stuff anele has personally called out before as it legitimately hurts him when folks link him to those acts? yeah man, youre on the internet, regardless of which community you find yourself in, you will pick up undesirables along the way. especially when you have 500+ person streams and an audience of 1m folks on youtube.
Its gotten better for the most part, the JADS discord is pretty welcoming and has helped shoo out people that would be transphopic/racist/assholes. the mods and joe are pretty wholesome and the people in stream chat has become better as a result, or so id like to believe anyway but yeah these old streams chatters are pretty bad
