Yeah, I really like the pink-orange acrylic paint peaking through in the lower left-hand corner, too. It really gives it a nice warm glow. It is a beautiful painting, Bob. I'm not on instagram but I'd love to see more of your videos. I found it very helpful.
I really enjoy your painting style, which is quite impressionistic and quick- stroked but also kind of your own individual mark-making. I particularly like the horizontal grass lines in the foreground and your freedom with color, which is very individual to you. It's refreshing to watch and fun to try. You really captured that lovely soft mist in the background that is typical to marshland.
I love using pale vermilion for my under painting. It gives the most beautiful effect in my landscape just like this. I never thought of using acrylic paint. May I ask what kind of acrylic paint are you using? Beautiful work. Thank you.
When you used acrylic paint with the foam brush, did you water it down a bit? I have a lot of acrylic paint and I'd like to start using it as my underpainting. Thank you for making this video.
@Bob Palmerton you said you used “washed acrylic “ I’m not sure what you mean. Are you using regular acrylic paint thinned with water? Or are you using a high flow acrylic paint no extra water ? Maybe acrylic ink? Is there more than one way use acrylic paint as a underpainting without filling the tooth of the paper? Thank you.
Hi Candice, I usually thin out the acrylic but sometimes I like it thick to show through in spots. I also use pastel underpainting with an alcohol wash. I'll have a new video coming up in the next week which does a monochrome underpainting in pastel as well as a color pastel wash.
Thank you. I’ve watched many videos, this is the best. Your demonstration and advice is more helpful than others. Your touch is beautiful. I love your style. Just what I am striving for.
I'm new to your channel. I live on the West Shore of Lake Michigan. I love that you explain what your doing every step. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
I have tried to search for pastels on RU-vid so many times and I have never seen your work until today. I’ve watched two videos so far and I love them and they teach you so much. Thank you. Your work is awesome.
Hello, thanks for writing. The paper is Uart 400 grade which can be purchased at Dakota Pastel Art Supplies. The pastels are several varieties including Mount Vision, Unison, Nupastel, Great American Artworks.
Is there any way I can be notified when you post a new video? I didn't see a way to subscribe on this video. I've never seen anybody use a palette knife to blend before. Pretty cool. I recently purchased some tools used for modeling clay, for making sculptures, as a blending tool. So fun. Love your video, very helpful. Thank you.
@@bobpalmertonpastels-studio6237 Yes, I did subscribe and that is why I thot I would get notified in my email inbox, but I never do. Not sure why this is happening.
