Let's try to understand the sequence of events. Rani padmavati was lost in the forest with no way to return back to her kingdom. After wandering the forests for a while, the best option she could think of was taking diksha. But her pregnant condition would have hindered the decision. Which she kept a secret and became a sadhvi. As time progresses, the signs of pregnancy were clearly visible and she had to somehow come out of this without harming the unborn kid or harming Jain Shasan. As a solution to this the new born kid was left for someone to take him. At this point sadhviji had no idea/possibility of going back to her kingdom and handover the kid. She also could not instruct anyone else to do this, as this was to be kept a secret. Based on here guru's aagya she had to leave the newborn alone. Later on when she heard about the war about to start, getting the message through was more important to stop unnecessary killings of thousands if not lakhs. In our own personal life too, when we retrospect on few instances or our reactions, we know that it could have been dealt in a more proper manner. But at that exact time, we might have acted out of haste or judgement clouded by other factors. As time progresses, we ourself come to terms and try to correct the wrongs done. Same is the case. No human is perfect until liberation is achieved. There might be other reasons too, but this seems more plausible.
