I didn't realize vlogging in the rain would really be a thing... So, the camera might be protected from the rain, but the microphones aren't waterproof. I could understand wanting to maintain the water resistance of the camera in many scenarios, but vlogging doesn't seem one of them. I wouldn't want to vlog in the rain and the mic would be at risk unless you place it under your clothing or coat, but then you're probably back to poor audio again. The other information is very useful.
I see there is a Sabinetek SmartMike Lite for $85 versus the $119 for the SmartMike+. Do you know what the Lite lacks and have you tried that one to see if it works? I am still unsure if I can use these microphones without having to also use that second microphone you are also using. This could get expensive! But I want to use something as the mics on the camera do not pick up much and if I get the adaptor, like you said, the camera will no longer be waterproof plus I can only be as far away from the camera as the mic cable will go. I know with the bluetooth type of mic I can be some meters away. Thanks for your time and any help you can give.
Since you made the video, I see from someone else's video that the camera has updated the firmware to work well with the Insta360 Ace Pro. So that is good! I see I can buy it through some websites for $99.
Thanks, great video. What is the best mic set-up with the Ace Pro when on a motorcycle. Right now with nothing, the wind noise is terrible. I have the camera set on "Wind reduction" but I'd say it doesn't work. Looking for alternatives.
They also told me that the firmware update compatible to DJI MIC 2 would come soon, but in between there have been two more updates and it is still not working! How do you know it is coming soon? What information do you rely on?
@@photorabz no, I didn't. I was just asking because they promised the same to me and it still didn't happen / Therefore it could be nice to know your sources ...
Thank you for the video. It takes a long time for insta360 to fix the problem with the dji mic 2. So hope they will release a new fw before end of this month. In meantime i purchased the sabinetek mic as shown in the video. But i am not so happy with it at the moment. Do you change inside the ace pro the microphone settings to eg +6db or others? the sabinetek sounds very weak even when i hold the mic close to my mouth. Next its very unclear how to operate the sabinetek mic together with the ace pro (connect / turn off / turn on). So currently i don't recommend the sabinetek myself unless a clear instruction will become available that hopefully fixes my concerns
thank you for your comment, it took them too long i know but i hope they are fixing it in a good way. the sabinetek is a good alternative, i personally don't adjust the gain on the acepro, i kept it to zero, but if you find yours quiet you can raise the gain on the acepro. sabinetek has one button, you press it and you hold it for like 2 or 3 seconds it starts to blink meaning it is in paring mode, you go then to acepro bluetooth setting and you find the sabinetek and voila it will be connected forever unless you DISCONNECT it. sabinetek bluetooth system is like any bluetooth earbuds in the market press and hold until it starts blinking thanks again for your comment much appreciated
@@photorabz thanks a lot for your great help. Once the sabinetek mic is connected to the camera, how do you turn off and turn on the microphone without the need to pair again?
When off Press and hold around 5 seconds to go to pairing mode When off press and hold 2 seconds to turn on When on press and hold 2 seconds to turn off like a regular bluetooth thing
I mean i guess this works but for me it sounded just like the dji mic 2 sounded. I am talking about the Bluetooth connection to the insta camera. Actually listening to it again the second mic sounded worse. There was a weird sound while you were talking. It was intermittent. You can hear it in the beginning.
I am not saying it is perfect, but it can do the job ... and its much easier to sync dji mic 2 with it .... but yeah a native connection is of course better
@@photorabz I get that I'm just saying this because you mentioned the audio on the DJI Mic 2 not being that great while saying the audio on the other mic is good.
I mean that dji mic 2 with ace pro was not as good as it should be, compared to dji mic 2 and pocket 3 for example. While the sabinetek can do the job and it is useful when pairing it with the mic 2 for a better sync and 32 bit float
