Just a quick note - RU-vid really compresses video footage, so the quality out of camera is far superior to what you're seeing here especially in 4k. Also the GoPro sensor is 1/1.9" not 1.19" as I erroneously wrote in the video... the point is - the GoPro's is smaller!
Right , where to start here .. firstly and as ever , a great well presented video with all the features that we care and need improved info on. Well in. Secondly , this doesn't just offer an alternative ( even as a very happy DJI OA3 motovlogger) but destroys the current trend and dare I say, 'narrative ' on what is in demand for the very best action cameras . I'm beyond enthused here . Keep updates on this coming bro. 🤟👍🤞
Thanks for stating upfront that this is a sponsored video and not creating the illusion that it is a product review. A review would imply that pros\cons would be included. I have no problem with sponsored videos such as this one when content creators are upfront about the nature of the video.
Agreed - this is definitely a better choice for chin mounting, maybe on the bars too. Will give you better image quality. But the X3 is more versatile and can be mounted in lots of ways to get a variety of shots. Depends what you want in terms of the end product! 👍
These cameras aren't cheap. I have an X3 and if someone didn't have an action cam I'd recommend an X3 over this, but if you already had an X3 and were looking for an 2nd, this would be a contender. Will need to see more in depth and more importantly non-sponsored reviews first.
You mention it, but I don't think it can be stressed how much better then nighttime image quality and especially stabilization is compared to the GoPro 12. Some of the mountain bike youtubers have footage up going through chunky technical trails near nighttime, and the difference in quality is basically: usable on the Ace Pro, vs complete mess on the GoPro. Edit: Also, for anyone wondering: That boat is a jack-up windfarm installation vessel.
I may have missed it but you didn't mention water resistance (big deal for some of us) as it happens even without the 'dive' case it 10 meters waterproof. Not bad.
Bob would you switch to this from a GoPro 11 if you were paying for it yourself? There seem to be so many polarised reviews on this camera it’s difficult to know what’s what. I’ve had GoPro cameras for years but I like the look of the easy dismount of the ace pro and the fact I can use a single remote with an ace pro and my one x2. What’s holding me back from pulling the trigger on one is the number of really negative reviews of the ace pro. I’ve followed your channel since the beginning and trust your assessment. Is it a good move to switch to an ace pro?
Use to own a gopro hero+ lcd, hero4 black edition, hero8 black edition and current hero 10 but i impressed this insta360 product action camera. i bought it one x2 and current go 3. Hoping they are making a new product one x4. Awesome insta360👍👍🤘🤘
Hi BOB, Just fyi - i hope you already know this - but upload your videos in 2560 1440 - to get the high res processing for the video. Even if your material is only 1080 - export it in 2560. If i fullscreen this 1080 video on a 2560 display your surroundings while riding are pixelated and blurry. Not ideal to showcase what im sure, is a great new camera. Just a tip from a fellow danish motovlogger.
With all of that I believe the real pro move would to incorporate the microphone adapter because like you said a lot of folks will motovlog with it and having added extra things hanging off sucks. They become these funky things people end up hating…time will tell. Still leagues ahead of the rest.
I'm hoping this camera improves the situation I'm experiencing with the Insta360 X3. That camera makes the bike in front of me to be double the distance away.
Indeed - although they're running a lens guard replacement program where you just pay shipping (roughly $8, varies by market), so they say less than a replacement GoPro lens cover
Hello I may have missed this or it is something that is common now with insta360 but does it crop well to vertical when you are using the app or would an X3 be a better choice?
X3 is still the best for all-round flexibility, but there is a FreeFrame mode on the Ace Pro too which allows you to take a vertical crop. Or you can just mount it sideways - I believe they're launching their own elbow mount for this soon
The one thing that will keep me using a GoPro is the position of the audio jack. I can't stand how DJI and Insta put it on the side. The back of the camera is a much better spot, especially if you get caught out in the rain. I'm no fan of GoPro but at least they got the audio jack position correct.
Does anyone know if the audio adapter captures mono or stereo signal from external camera? I have insta360 ones x2 and really disappointed because the audio adapter can only capture mono signal from a stereo mic.
Protective lens cover is not removable. So it will be very costly to use as an action cam. Update: I have got the info that for small amount insta360 makes the replacing of the lens cover. That is great. However it is still not as easy as to change it ourselves
Yes, although as I've mentioned in another comment: they're running a lens guard replacement program where you just pay shipping (roughly $8, varies by market), so they say less than a replacement GoPro lens cover
Hi there. Thank you very much for your videos. If you had to buy only one camera, it seems to me that the 360x3 its the only one that actually does the 360° recording comparing to the Ace pro as has got the title of 360, but it doesn’t record 360. Is this right?.
The default magnet mount that comes with the ace pro seems awfully insecure for me. It doesn’t seem to lock on both sides, and if shaken enough, the camera will fall out of the mount.
So can you use an external microphone and the external power in simultaneously what is the internal battery life is it easy to change and what size memory cards will it take oh! and how waterproof is it Cheers good video 👍
I think that 1/1.3 sensor is smaller than GoPro's 1/1.19. If the denominator of a fraction gets larger, the resulting number gets smaller. I hope someone can correct me instead of Motobob
just updated all my camera stuff to the new 360 x3 and i went for the new DJI as i was getting annoyed at Gopro with there crashing and over heating problems i would of so got this i think if it came out little sooner but its a great action cam
This is my main problem with the Ace Pro as well, it's lens is 16mm equivalent which translates to an FOV of only 107. The Action 4 is 155. I was so looking forward to the new insta360 cam but the fov is a deal breaker for me personally.
Features look really cool on this camera, but tbh, the video quality looks really compressed. Maybe RU-vid is doin some weird stuff to it, but, yea i dno...
As someone that has never used an action camera that wants to record video from front handlebars and maybe chin, which camera would you recommend the Insta360 X3 or Ace Pro? As a beginner I just want ease of use with versatility. Also ability to use a mic if I want. Thanks for help!
Get the 360. You won't have to worry about positioning the camera as you can do all of that in post. If you don't want to spend anytime editing then get the Ace Pro.
Yes, although as I've mentioned in another comment: they're running a lens guard replacement program where you just pay shipping (roughly $8, varies by market), so they say less than a replacement GoPro lens cover
How long will it record given settings etc…… I mean, could you also use it all day driving/riding with power plugged in? What size memory can it hold? Thanks MotoBob.
Not that impressive to me because the video quality is just not onpar with releases from 2023. The Action 4 for example. Maybe a firmware update will get a better image quality. What's the max bitrate on this camera?
Hey hey.. I can see the Insta360 ace pro mounted on the handlebar (1:37 to 1:50) which camera was mounted on your helmet during the above time stamp😂? Has Insta360 provided you with 2 units? If yes, then why you had to switch between helmet to handle and vice a versa further in the video? Oh! please now don't say you forgot to get the 2nd unit the next day 😂. That's why I don't believe in such sponsored youtube videos, you guys have all praise for the sponsored products and just fool people who watch your videos.
nice video but having been motovlogging since my old hero black 7 there has not been a manufacturer that has completely nailed it from motorcycle perspective. I was delighted when dji brought out the action 3 but I have been frustrated with dji's refusal to fix the lav mic audio issue whilst on the bike. I know the action 4 is better but im not convinced yet. So when i saw this yesterday i was intrigued. I also own a one rs and 360 module. The reason i sont use it much is because i feel the fov is too tight. Was hoping you were going to review the different angles available whilst you were on the bike and demo audio with a lav plugged in. Maybe something you could do in future but it looks good and i may sell the oa3 for this.....
As a motorcyclist - *NO, it's not on my list* The audio interface is a fail, straight up. Almost never ride at night (like most people), so added expense of larger sensor is completely wasted. There's nothing this camera does that's actually any better, or can produce results that are any better than what's already out there at a lower price. If you really need a camera to zoom, you need a different camera. An action camera cropping-in at jerky stages is not going to cut-it.
This is sponsored so it is a commercial not a review...also nothing mentioned about the mounting systems...or the almost no replacable lens.....so no added value
A copy of GoPro 12. All others comes 2nd. All others after a couple of years die and a new model arrives, while GoPro is still here. Anyway, I like your videos but since they now insta sponsor you, then true is buried :(
