I got one for my Air 2s And I love it. Still learning some of the post editing on it, but it’s worth it! I shoot a lot of real estate videos, and this is just another different way to shoot it to add to my aerial arsenal
Hello Kelly. Almost all your footage affected with visible stitch line damage... Did you try to resolve it ? Insta 360 studio now improved this issue, but their 360 cameras much more narrowed ... Thank you for nice upload !
*Kelly, I don't see the issue with post editing. I would be doing that anyway. As you stated, if you do not then stick with the camera onboard. My negative would be price. $429 Is what you can get a new DJI Mini 2 for now. I still want one though. 😊*
You are right that you'll be doing post anyway, but it is one extra step that takes a bit of time. But again, you can get some really cool footage that way!
The main issue is checking the legal requirement for drone weight and your pilot license (like Europe A1/A3 ...A2) for flying an 800 grames device (Mavic Air 2 = 600 grames + Insta360 Sphere = 200 grames) Can you fly in cities without City and Air Authority approvals?
It's strange, I always hear that they have trouble getting satellite locks, but I don't have that problem at all. Not sure what's up with that. I love mine though.
Kelly, the sphere is an awesome tool for getting 360 footage while in flight. You can use that footage and also the footage straight from the camera.. It's good to have a different perspective on your footage. You explained this very well and i now have a better understanding on how it works. Thanks great video
Just bought this and have not used it yet, What are you editing video from this with? Also, I turned it on and tried to record by using the app and on my iphone the red button is a dArkwright red than on your video and does nothing when you press it. Also tried the record button on the camera and it’s not recording, any ideas on what I’m doing wrong? I did put a mini sdhc card in it. Thanks
I want to be able to shoot 360 video to view in VR. Is this good for that? All I see is people talking about the fpv effects, I just want 360 video, no effects. I have a mavic air 2.
Yeah the stitch line is ugly, but you can work around it. I just included it to show people what NOT to do with 360 footage. But overall, I think the DJI camera is better quality - but it doesn't do all the "cool stuff" that the SPHERE can do. It's definitely a trade off!
@@readysetdrone Agreed,,, but if that line is in the footage,,, especially now that yoy taught me about this,,, im gonna be stuck looking for it,,, and when you look for things hard enough,, knowing its there,,, you make it your business to find it,,, once you do,,, you feel the whole take is ruined... That stich would literally drive me crazy.....
There is an optional bracket or adapter missing that might fit this insta 360 to the Mavic 3 Pro and Mavic 2 pro too Too expensive otherwise to get a 1 model only cam for half of the drones value.
Yeah it would be awesome if it worked on those other drones. But, I do think it fits really well because it's designed specifically for the AIR 2. That's definitely a factor in deciding to buy it or not. If you have an AIR 2 or 2S, it's a much easier purchase!
I don't have the GPS problem - but agreed that stitching can be bad. You have to stay a good distance from your subjects and be sure to keep the drone slightly higher or lower than the subject. Doing those 2 things helps!
Awsome video. Great information. Comes with great accessories. Great likes and dislike options oh the camera. Great suggestion. Amazing fottage samples. Thanks for sharing. God bless 🙏🏼 stay safe hugs 💓
Do you mean the phone app or desktop? I really haven't had any problems on my iPhone 12 and M1 Macbook Pro. I do think it requires a current processor and decent amount of RAM to work well. Thanks for watching!
@@readysetdrone on a Windows 10 64 bit machine, 32GB RAM. The windows version of the software has been glitchy for a while. They did an update last year and now it auto full screens and the cursor now doesn’t line up with the icons and drop downs. Really annoying. Never tried editing from a smart phone not sure if it is possible.
Nice long term review of the Insta360 Sphere. And a great point about the editing process, I’ve owned two 360 cameras and I understand the extra work it takes to get this video ready for sharing. That being said I think you got some great footage with it, and the SATS and flight performance don’t seem to be impacted as much as earlier efforts to combine 360 cameras and drones. Thanks for sharing Kelly.
how did you control camera beyond 33 feet ... love to know as i called insta360 and they confirmed app does not work beyond 33ft .... cant remember last time i did videos below 33 feet???????????????????????????????????
Shots that use mostly one camera, like at 8:03 are really cool. I've never looked better 9:38 😂 Good points about not being able to start and stop video, etc., while you're flying far.
Yeah - the shots of you holding it really illustrated the "stitch line" well. Sorry that it is not very flattering! It's what you would look like without a neck!
The flight time on the Air 2s is around 15 minutes, with the added weight of the sphere camera. The insta 360 sphere can record for around 40 to 45 minutes, I believe, before it runs out of battery.
I don't have this one but I do have another FPV drone with the oneR in it. I've found that it needs good light for best results, also the lens protectors (which are totally necessary) must be installed from the two way stick tape up correctly, any little parts sticking up around the lens will show up as well as any little bits of lint or grass so you have to be extra sure both lens are clear before takeoff. Lastly although I find the lens covers absolutely necessary to prevent ruining your investment in an instant, do make a weird casting on the actual lens whenever the sun catches it just right. Editing on the Ipad is kinda fun because you can just sit in a spinning desk chair and move the Ipad around to make your movies, still takes practice to make it look smooth though.
I think this is a great way to achieve FPV imagery for real creatives who don’t have the skills to fly an FPV. Automation is cool, but there’s a craft in the edit.
I love the Sphere, so many cool shots one can get but you are right, one has to be willing to commit the time. The one thing that really bugs me is the size of the power and record buttons. Way to small. Thanks for the great review and happy flying!!!
@@readysetdrone no cointrol app does not work at 33 feet so enjoy tyhe ground shots because once your in the air over 33 feet u have no control over sphere which makes it useless
