Mate, that triangle has actually helped me out a ton for my studies ever since you posted the original video where you showed it to us. I'm super glad you are still with us!
Mee too, and about breaking down and pay attention to simplified form of everything....oh god.... Seriously, how can I not see all those before this ? I’m really thankful for all his lesson.
Peoples this is passive aggressive teaching, This isn’t hate He’s just pointing out flaws You can learn a lot It’s not hate His teaching style is just....... *unique*
honestly he's cool and definitely knows what he's talking about but he really makes himself easy to hate. The whole 'haha I was only pretending to be a dickhead!' type of humor never comes off well. But that's just me and my personal biases I guess.
"What you're doing to students is wrong. You do art good, you do draw hands good" That's not tough love, that's being an asshole to another artist publicly as a gag to build clout because stirring the pot and "there's no bad publicity" brings him more views. It's not passive aggressive, it's just regular aggressive, for no reason.
Yeah, like he literally linked Sinix's video in the description and was like "This video has great tips, watch it". But people don't look close enough.
I can’t even understand how people think he’s seriously being mean in his videos like 😂 Dude is the most helpful resource for drawing I’ve found in 6 years of being a self taught artist, literally I’ve seen a massive difference in my art within a week of watching his videos, this man is king of sarcasm and teaching, and knives
He's screaming with a broken cigarrette on his mouth, a mic on his hat and a kellogs bomber with flag glasses. HE MUST BE SERIOUS. Besides the art advice, i'm just here to watch him scream and make jokes with the awesome way he edits
And wanting him AND Gordon Ramsay both roasting my art skills and cooking skills is definitely one of the things i have on my bucket list. I rather pay some bucks just to get roasted, even if it just a single roast, I don't care, i want them to roast tf out of me
@@raylene3418 ...please don't let them fool you my friend. They both play the Game......it's a new tactic to gain more views.....don't worry. As always money it the trickster here .......again. ;-)
you got me I was tricked, fooled, bamboozled I came here thinking I was gonna get salty over someone picking on sinix instead I came to find someone who's just really aggressive in general
I came here like.. 'Mmmm Idk bout that' but decided to watch cus I wanna get better at understanding different peoples viewpoints? Idk what to call it.. See both sides of the story- N that's kinda what I got but also not-..
i know right, i think he just wanted to get famous by creating the "youtube beef drama" just so he can get sinix's audience to view his videos...sad man..
I love how ethan always subverts the extreme perspective the video begins with. like how instead of “Never draw hands like Sinix” it’s really “For most artists following Sinix’s advice is overkill, however their perspective is valuable in the case of artists who are interested in getting extremely skilled and well versed in drawing hands”
its interesting cause he's so agressive but at the same time way more empathetic for the average drawing noob than most youtubers that give drawing tips
And more helpful. He doesn’t hold hands but he is actually helping. So many youtubers basically boil it down to “just practice” but never actually explain WHAT or HOW. They mostly just talk in circles without giving any true explanation of what they or others are doing. Ethan breaks down both what he’s doing and what the other artist is doing whilst also explaining and teaching you HOW to break down someone’s art style and learn from it.
There’s this Lion Character in One Piece named Pekoms. He wears sunglasses and looks very intimidating. But when he take off his glasses, he has this cute beady eyes behind them. You totally reminds me of him 😂😂😂.
This is a sad and shallow way to draw. Hands and feet are SO EXPRESSIVE. They are so unique. I guess you've never actually referenced hands in real life, but everyone's are different. Distinctly different. If you want to cut them out of your drawings just because they're hard, the only person you're hurting is yourself. The same goes for feet. I draw a lot of DBZ art, and I just feel like those little Saiyan monkeys need very expressive feet, since they're... monkeys... Feet and hands are SO FUN once you learn how to draw them. They're always something I look forward to drawing. Maybe feet and hands aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I think you should give them an honest shot before disregarding them completely. edit: also yeah foot art pays the bills 😷
me: paying attention to what he says my brain: "look at this broken cigarette!" me: paying attention to what he says my brain: "look, this cigarette is gonna fall anytime!" Please, Ethan, get rid of this cigarette!
lmao for real . Makes me wonder if he uses the same resilient cigarette or he just goes and breaks one every time it falls off. Start thinking about the history of the cigarette.
Just incase someones new: Ethan doesn't do this to make fun of artists and we his fans dont actually hate the artists he makes videos on! His titles are just for fun and hes not really going anywhere this is like his 4th "last video" He just a goofy boy
Yeah, as someone who doesn't know about him or his channel style, he comes off as an asshole. But reading some comments, it seems to be all in good fun. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
When i studied art all my first year teachers told me the same thing “you gotta know the rules before you can break the rules”. Meaning sure there are some things that are subjective in art and you can stretch and bend the rules in the right places but and A-chord is an A-chord and a D-chord is a D-Chord. You gotta know what key you’re playing in before you start to solo
How many people are going to say that you need to be able to draw perfect lines and circles to do art? that's the result of artist with 10+years experience, anyone decent can't do that. just learn art your own pace, of course you're not an artist. because you haven't tried being one yet. my point is, i'm tired of seeing this joke in every art tutorial ever.
I think people don't realize he's just acting in front of the camera, everything he says is irony guys. Which kinda makes me want to watch him more because his videos have a weird way of humour in them
“You insult me, you insult my dog” and just a couple of knives are both designs I need on shirts and bags. I want a tote bag for grocery shopping that just has Ethan’s two knives on them. I want a shirt that has cigarettes stuck to others that wraps all the way around the shirt. The ideas keep flowing, I need the merch
My first impression of Ethan is that he's that artist who knows everything and who really is proud of his self but as I watch and watch more of his videos... My God it really helps me alot how can I find my style and how to draw not from imagination... That's why yow the Man Ethan 😆😉
This is fucking awesome, I get sooo bored looking at way too serious art tips videos but this! I know this lessons will stick with me for the rest of ma life, thank u so much for this videos! I don't know why, but they also like, take the pressure off my shoulders about making "great art" or "perfect". Thaaaanks
To be fair, Sinix doesn't claim to be extra. In his intros he always says he's cramming as much info into the video as he can. He also does full structure, into reductions, into paintings, amd a short animation. His videos aren't here's out to skip learning about the hand, it's here the parts of the hand you should understand so u know what's going on.
This helped me so so so much....I couldn’t draw a finger before watching this video and now that I’ve studied hands the way you did I realised that it isn’t as difficult as I thought! I haven’t mastered it completely but I have improved a lot! Thank you.
Basically Sinix for in depth studies (bcs Sinix might be a masochist and he did say that he enjoys the process rather than the result of art) Ethan for simplified forms (we all know he works for commercial studios meaning time is money, thus simplified is prefered because nitpicking details will stress you out whenever there's a tight deadline) Both is nice, thank you
I wouldn't say never draw hands like Sinix ever. Sinix's approach and style is leaning toward realism. That's what I noticed when I browsed his art and tutorials. Even when he draws anime, it has a realistic feel to it. So I think it's good for artists specializing on realism and painting. I get it. You don't have to draw like Sinix if you're aiming for a stylized approach.
That's what he basically says at 2:58. I'd say this video is specifically for beginners who are still bad at drawing hands; I'm sure a lot of beginners would feel overwhelmed if they tried learning from Sinix's hands video, because his hands are so detailed and complex looking and someone who has little drawing experience wouldn't be able to reach that level yet. Instead of getting frustrated at being incapable of drawing hands like Sinix, Ethan is breaking it down for those who haven't learned to analyze how the structure of a hand works. It's not that Sinix's hands are bad at all - he's simply too good for the majority of amateurs, and Ethan is offering a simpler approach for them to understand.
Yep. Sinixs video is more of a go between learning full on anatomy, amd learning the reductions for drawing. They can be useful for helping you study other references, and help you connect a bunch of concepts but aren't there to say, teach you the easy way.
i love how his tutorial isnt boring...when i was watching other peoples videos about drawing hands it was so boring i never watched the video until the end. Ethan explains, he makes is easy and his video is not boring.
Just wanna say I done my first assessment of year 11 about you and one of the biggest compliments I got regarding the self portrait of myself I did influenced BY hour art was how well I drew the hands, which I actually only learnt how to do due to this video years ago and still use the same techniques I learnt using this video. Very full circle for me.
Ethan teaching is really simplified and its a big help for some new artist about of getting things done *effectively and efficient* I find Sinix tutorial is really complicated though it can work but again it's not that important when it comes to illustration or concept art since adaption on 3D will ignore most of the part for example on the fingers since most concept is on relax pose, A-pose or T-pose. agree with Ethan all the way through though I wouldn't recommend the channel to some minors and I'm watching your teaching in behalf of my daughter and everyday I tried to share your teaching to my daughter :) she improves a lot. thanks Ethan soon I will introduce your channel to her. Kudos. she's 8 years old.
When i watched this video it made me realize that i've tried so hard to be perfect that i've forgotten what it was like to just buckle down and draw for the fun of it
Sinix: Oh? are you approaching me? Ethan Becker: I can't *explain why your mentality is wrong in a constructive matter* without getting any closer. Sinix: Oh ho! than get as close as you like!
*My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. That is how I deal with society, and I know that is what brings me happiness. Although, if I were to fight I wouldn't lose to anyone. *
I love how Ethan Becker turned up and absolutely demolished the art community and now has taken his place as one of the heads. Love the stuff and I'm always excited when a new one comes out :D
It's interesting because every digital art channel here in yt has their own aspects/specialty, and Ethan's is the psychology, the mindset you have to have. And I think that's just as important. Keep going man!
THANK YOU for this. I can't tell you how many tutorials I've tried to follow and failed miserably to replicate. You're the first person that's actually helped truly simplify it
If I were the one who'll get criticism from him I would literally thank him a lot and take it as advice because in this way I'll learn what's wrong with my art so I could fix it and do better.... Some people are just too naive to understand his point of view, I'm 16 and I clearly understand his point, from what I see is he's giving us good advice and help our "baby brain" to improve faster and do better.
God I literally sit and wait for your notification to show up on my phone like a wife waits for her husband to return from war. Love your critiques so much they're phenomenal
Me: I have a sorta basic grasp on it, but I don’t _really_ understand hands- Ethan: _EVERYTHING_ IS THE *ILLUMINATI-**_TRIANGLES, TRIANGLES, TRIANGLES! !!!_*
He kind of reminds me of my middle school art teacher, Who would abruptly get really aggressive and then chill out just as fast. Which at first it’s really intimidating then you realize it’s just a part of their personality.
Sinix never says with a single word „u have to do it this way everything else is wrong“ he just shares his way + wanna share the anatomy of hands thats it and its quite helpfull o0 but at the end of the day everyone does whatever art in whatever way they want and feeling most comfortable with
