Apple should just have a CarPlay app that you can go into while driving. I like this solution, but just saying Apple should make it easy to just mount your phone and have a simple driving interface to use.
I totally agree Matt. However Apple wouldn't do this because they have so many partners who are making money selling CarPlay enabled products. Companies such as Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, etc. It would piss them off entirely.
@@shouldigetit I think his point is that Android offers Android Auto on all of their devices. It also stinks that iPads don't have GPS unless you buy the cellular models, so navigation on most ipads doesn't work. Apple makes you rely on these Carplay devices.
The government for some reason think that if you do X and Y on an expensive touchscreen stereo it's fine but it's dangerous if you do the exact same thing on your phone lol
Alot of people are comparing to a din installable unit but for cars like the lx570 that have climate control connected to the original head unit, this is a great option to get Android auto and carplay without having to go thru some other subpar options
@@jdoggaming6827 I have the same issue with my Honda Pilot I assume if you have a Bluetooth cassette player which I have currently you can connect this device to that Bluetooth on the cassette and your phone directly to this device so it will stream your music and sound out from the cassette option .
Will be buying one of these for my Subaru! Already got a proper Pioneer headunit with Apple CarPlay in my Holden, so I am already in love with the CarPlay function!
I have read several of these comments from the past year and know that some of you just need to do a little more research. There are several vendors of this type of product on Amazon and elsewhere, some of them direct sales. There are many, many reviews of these products on RU-vid. There are various screen sizes from 7 inches to over 10 inches. Models that will connect to a backup camera (and sometimes a forward facing camera), sometimes with the camera included. There are various ways to attach these devices to meet visibility requirements and state laws. And they can be easily detached to avoid inviting thieves. They are a decent solution for people like me in need of a larger navigational screen for an older car where it is not worth getting an in-dash replacement.
This looks like a good solution if you have a car which doesn't have an aftermarket integrated stereo solution. If not, this device is ludicrously expensive for what looks like a $100 android tablet with carplay and android auto. I realise that if the car has no other option for upgrade you have no other option... but FM transmission or cable spaghetti on the dash is a good reason to buy another car ;) Thanks for the content. cheers from OZ
I also have a fiat. And I’ve been dying for a screen! As you can see for a fiat it almost seems impossible to install a forever screen with those air vents in the way! THIS IS PERFRCT!!!
YOU FEEL THE EXACT PAIN I HAD!!! Yes!! I also recommend getting some blue tack to secure the screen tighter to the dash. This was a game changer for me!
In some state, its illegal. Obstruction on the windscreen. Car builders get around it by integrating screens into the dash first then overlapping the dash borders
thanks for pointing this out, I got super hyped at first and then checked my state's laws after reading your comment. sad to say it's illegal in my state )':
May just make the leap and buy one today. Seems like a great add on for my 07 prius. I plan to keep the car long term, but it seems nice to have the option to move it to the next car if my next car does not have android auto. You convinced me to get it!
The device seem nice, but the amount of cables hanging from it makes it a bit pointless. It would have been better to connect via Bluetooth and have wireless carplay and android auto.
I wouldn't say it's pointless with the amount of cables but would be way nicer if it was all done with one cable. Wireless carplay is only in very few makes of cars (BMW) and it drains battery quicker than wired connection. Thanks for watching! -Ben
if you have a 14 pro or pro max, the dynamic island makes it so easy to jump between maps and spotify, and you can even hold on the island while you have music playing to pull up a lil "now playing" widget, without leaving ur maps app... i don't think $250 is worth it to have spotify in landscape mode , and to have 4 cables running up and down my dash😷
No wireless = no go, I'm not plugging in my phone with the cable every time lol. Cool concept tho, and as an Italian I'm glad you're driving a 500 abarth
Thank you Sagar! Sending him a screenshot now, appreciate you subscribing! Do you have an IG? I’ll definitely have questions for you when I start shopping for an M2 in 2022.
This would be nice in a fleet vehicle but not in my personal vehicle I would absolutely pony up the $1,200+ for a nicer head unit in my car. Just make sure y’all put a gel pad underneath that thing otherwise you’re gonna have a headache 2 miles down the road.
350 bucks? Plus cables or FM Transmitter? With just a little more one can buy a full feature double din car stereo with both Apple Carplay and Android Auto. And we get a much cleaner setup and security (there's no windshield obstruction).
I agree with you! However you can resell this much easier than units you get installed in your car. This is guaranteed to work in ANY car without having to second guess yourself and if you own multiple cars you can move it between them (such as my Fiat 500 Abarth and NC Miata). In my GTI I did install a proper head unit.
just bought one based on your video here, this option OR $1800 for replacement dash radio for my Ram 1500.. a link to the AUX cable you bought would be helpful .. i will try the fm transmitter but have never really been happy with the sound and generally prefer the aux cable route....
Still working well, handles the heat totally fine and sound quality has been good. The only “issue” I have is due to my car. The power outlet is right next to my knee so sometimes I bump it and it restarts the unit. The suction mount isn’t the best so I might buy a Cd slot mount or a different suction mount. It never has fallen but sometimes when I drive hard through the mountains the screen will swing slightly side to side in the corners. Hope that helps!
I am working on getting my learners and license again because it expired more than 2 years ago and this is already want I want for my future car since I have a iPhone and can get car play easily.
Just ease of install and the fact that you can keep the Intellidash for your next car or sell it whenever you move on to the next ride. Also impatience for some people. Literally click today, install tomorrow (if Prime has 1 day shipping in their area). No need to deal with a DIY install or finding a local shop. To each their own! You can see I got a new head unit for my GTI and if install was that easy in the Fiat I would've done the same. My GTI CarPlay radio: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xQ-VZNbPq8M.html Thanks for watching Gary!
Sweet video! Just want to know if it will pair with the first version of iphone SE/5S? I seem to have trouble getting it to connect since carplay option doesn't show. Appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks
I bought this model but when I leave my car and lock it the screen stays on.. it doesn’t turn off by itself and when I press the power button on the device it only mutes the sound so I have to unplug the power cable everytime I get out of my car so the device won’t kill my car battery (I have a VW Polo from 2002).. am I doing something wrong or is it a error? for the rest it’s a very nice, clean and usefull thing to have
Totally get that, that's what I did in my VW GTI! Just a lot more labor in the Fiat/also need an air-conditioning relocation kit in this car so I got the Intellidash. Which car do you have?
I don’t get it. Should i buy that thing first? My car has already a screen, but i can’t download apple carplay because maybe it’s not compatible on my car screen? I don’t know…help
Make sure to watch at 4:22 to see the CLEANEST aux cable setup. You can also tuck the wires down the dash as mentioned at 4:44. My setup is messy because I go through cars :) EDIT: 12/22/21 here's the link amzn.to/3sA5NkC Thanks for watching! -Ben
@Tamya 22 It would play the music the same way. You can either use the FM transmitter feature that's built in or plug in an AUX cable. The wireless one allows you to have CarPlay wirelessly without plugging in the iPhone USB cable.
Totally agree dependent on the car Jorge! For myself this was without a doubt the easiest to install because it takes 20 seconds. Also for the Fiat it's complex because the radio has the air conditioning above it standard so you have to get a new bracket that also repositions the air flow vents. Thanks for watching! -Ben
I love the video and love the product but I have to agree with other people here in the comments with the price point off 200-400$ USD You honestly might as well go and buy a new radio and backup camera with better quality for that price and if you don't know how to install it there and lots of guides on RU-vid to show you how and if not best buy offers free installs on radios and its like 100$ to have them install a back up cam and to buy one you can find good ones for about $80 usd for a back up and a radio for about $200 on the low end side and a good one for about $300-400 USD. But I will say if the product was cheaper it would for sure be a wonderful option
Thank you Eddie! Totally agree with you about all of those points. For the Fiat 500 in particular this was the way I decided to go because of the strange stock radio system which requires moving the AC vents to fit a larger screen. I also tend to buy/sell a car every year or so and this way I can sell the Intellidash when I sell the Fiat and get my money back :) Appreciate your kind comment :) Truly hope you'll subscribe for more videos! Btw what car are you driving and what is your dream car? -Ben
@@shouldigetit honestly I want the hummer that’s coming out I had an older model hummer h3 sadly lost it to an accident but now I’m driving an old Ford F-150 2001 also yeah your not wrong in your case that works very well and really I can see buying it if you maybe have more then one car you drive that doesn’t have apple car play so you have a good point there
Keep in mind some cars cannot change the deck at all. Cars with some premium systems such as Bose, B&O and some other have a complicated amp setting that charging the deck would ruin the speakers sound quality.
The thing I use the most is Bluetooth phone feature - I would really like to know if calls work great on this unit, and if the person on the other side can hear my voice crystal clear. Is there an option to install an overhead microphone?
This seems cool. Like everybody says too many wires. I wonder if they would come out with a larger screen(8 or 9 inch) would u know if they are coming out with a newer version? I would think about buying it. Thanks
Hey thanks for watching, this one just came out really recently so I can't imagine there is a new one coming out anytime soon, I'd guess in 6 months to a year. This screen is plenty large I can tell you that, I don't think they'd make a larger screen (I wouldn't buy it) because it'd take too much space on the dash. I should make an update video with a wire tuck. I barely notice my wires now.
I just bought one for my Honda Odyssey. The car doesn’t have aux. And I’ve trying to make the audio play through my speakers through the FM transmitter. But it’s not working!! What do I do??
Does it overheat? The main reason I want to change my stereo/ radio is that my phone over heats in this heat. Mostly bc it’s mounted in the same place getting ALOT of sun
So how much is the unit? And this method will work for any car? Provided it has an aux socket? The alternative is for me to change my head unit, a factory touch screen nav, with reverse cam. Far more pricier!
It’s $350 Amazon link is in the video description. Works for any car EVEN if it doesn’t have an aux socket as you can use the FM transmitter feature built into the intellidash.
@@ethancrumby2240 The app you use for music doesn't make a difference. To get the sound from the intellidash to your car you can either plug in an AUX cable or use the FM transmitter.
Only problem I have is that dongle thing that sticks to the windshield is gonna bounce around too much, also those wires 🤦🏿♂🤦🏿♂ I need a clean interior not a airplane cockpit
My 500 Abarth is pretty damn stiff suspension wise and it doesn't bounce. As mentioned in other comments get the wireless version (which wasn't out when I filmed this) and it's way cleaner! amzn.to/3TIvOtV
I have a 2017 Honda Accord Sport and just bought this for Apple Play. I have the power connected to the 12 volt. The music plays through the car stereo, but the gps, Siri and text messages don’t. I don’t have aux in my car so what can I do to get everything to play through my car speakers?
Hello , great video Do you know if anyone sells this infotainment screen from European Union? Because the original is shipped from Taiwan and duty&fees are expensive
@@tin-foo8262 Thank you for the reply! I just ordered the screen. I saw it has an AV port, and there are backup cameras that connect to AV. If it works, I will give you an update. At that point it would be a matter of organizing the cables so it doesn't look messy.
It sucks that in PA you can’t have anything stuck to your window by law the suction cup won’t stick to my dash top very well because its textured. Don’t want to stick the sticky disk to it either.
Does the FM transmitter send the audio from the CarPlay apps as well? You showed us that it does this if you start the music on your phone. But, what if I kick off the music from the Spotify app on the Intellidash itself?
I have a Toyota Camry 2003, and I don’t have an Aux or Bluetooth, will I still be able to buy this? I want to be able to have a CarPlay but I don’t have an aux port.
