I bought a tracker pro guide boat from cabelas with a powerdrive trolling motor on it.. but I just called the people at cabelas and they said it isn’t capable of the I pilot upgrade
Outstanding video. I have a Minn Kota Powerdrive BT Electric-Steer Bow-Mount Trolling Motor with Digital Maximizer, 55 lbs Thrust, 54" Shaft on my Pontoon. Do you know what kit model you bought? My model is 1358737, because, a person from my group sent me a message. He said that he called the company and told me that Powerdrive is not always upgradable. Thank you for your help!
Hey I wanted to tell you thank you for posting this video you made the install of my ipilot easier so thank you. You were the first video to pop up when I searched power drive I-Piolot conversion install.
The problem is if you install it yourself there is no warranty. That's a $500 gamble. If it works Great! If not your ass out $500 bucks. I considered it. But no way.
If you were the original purchaser of the Powerdrive and you buy the upgrade kit from Minn Kota, the warranty would be good. Minn Kota states: "Our warranty does not cover a secondary purchase from any reseller or individual previous owner, no matter their length of ownership."
Didn't realize you lose the foot pedal. Wonder if they make a Bluetooth foot pedal or something so you can still use one? That makes me stop and think twice. I like that I can vary my speed infinitely with the foot pedal instead of just by 1-10 speeds. Sometimes I'm in between numbers and trolling at a speed that's perfect. Can you do that with ipilot or only speed by numbers? I know they have 2 different remotes you can get with that kit but haven't read how they are different. One is a micro remote and the other has an LCD screen.
Yes the foot pedal becomes obsolete, but The remote is SO nice!!! I have a few dogs that loved to stand on that foot pedal messing up my line. The kit also gives you the ability to do spot lock and cruise control which is MPH based. So when I'm out trolling I set my desired speed and it does the rest. Speeding up and slowing down with the wind and waves. It is very nice and very consistent. All in all, I would say making the swap from the foot pedal to the remote is well worth it. If you are a hardcore bass angler I might reconsider because it is nice to have both hands free for pitching docks and flipping lily pads. food for thought 🤔
