Had the Blackview dr900s installed a year ago on the 2016 C300 and still have it, but the OEM style dual dash cam as far as I can tell is definitely stealthy and less of a drain on the battery. Will have to consider swapping out dashcams. It was my hope to find a 360 degree dashcam for the C300 with dvr capability, but it might be more work to have it installed than the front and rear dashcam set up. Thanks for finding showing this.

Ive had a blackview on my c250 and it crapped out. Great camera. Then I bought a cheapo Rexing for like $120 on amazon and it's been solid for like 5 years and still kicking. But like you said, this camera from DMP is stealthy and so far, it works pretty well. And if you have an android screen, you can pair that with the camera as well to view the realtime recording or watch/download the saved videos. I don't have an android screen on the C300 hence why I used my smartphone to view/download the footage.

Not clear if the wire routing required removing other trim panels along the windshield or doors? Can you actually squeeze the wires in there by hand? Otherwise, good job and nice replacement rain sensor piece!

Flexx can you upload night time recording? I noticed some of these dashcams I bought off Amazon are bad at night. Everything is way too dim and they can't pick up license plates clearly.

That’s nice but I found the smaller dash cam and look almost the same as that and I used on my C300 people don’t even know it was there for $40 1080p WiFi and clear with app and up depending on how big is your pocket is. I have used about 3 yrs and still working . Your is cool too but $$$$$ .

Very nice product and it does look OEM. I personally don't mind a small off the shelf dashcam mounted up high on the windshield to justify spending $199 for this especially since my c300 is 10yrs old. I do want to install an HID kit, I'll have to look and see if you have any videos on that. My only question is if I can mount the kit inside the headlight housings or if it's better to install in the engine bay and drill holes for the wires thru the plastic covers.

Is on the recording also the speed visible ? So a kind of stamp with date, time and speed. Very useful for insurance use....

Now is something I might get motivated to do. Not a fan of the rear camera though. I think it looks out of place. That front one is so neatly tucked into there that nobody will notice it!

Don’t use the back camera then. It’s not required. It’s literally so small. I don’t get what’s the big deal. Not like a front dashcam that’s usually big as hell.

My brother put one in his 3 series that is really bulky ugly and out of place. Plus he did a half ass job of concealing the wires. That is where my bias of dashcams comes from lol. I do love this size and look of the front one though.

My video has easy steps to follow to make things work but if you need in depth explanation, It’s a lot to explain that I don’t have time. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but if you don’t understand it, You need to google on “how a fuse tap works”. There’s plenty of videos on RU-vid. That will explain everything. Then it’s up to you if you wanna tackle the wiring or get a professional to do it for you.

Hi Flexx I just got a camera for my Mercedes w205 not manual included at all. I managed to install the camera, but I can’t connect it to my WiFi. I’m not that sure about your statement that dmp is a reputable source. So far I’m not happy. But let’s see how they react, I emailed them yesterday. By the way quality control doesn’t exist I guess because the camera shipped direct from China. DMP can’t see what the Chinese send out.

You need to kill your cellular connection before connecting. Pretty sure I mentioned that. It’s in the instructions.

Only need to disconnect the negative side of the main battery under the hood. That will cut power to the entire car.

Hi, I need help with the fuse box. My fuses are small and doesn’t fit in 71 and 74 is not a fuse place in my w204 2009

Every car is different. You need to use a test light pen or multimeter to probe and find which fuse # turns on and off with the key and which one stays on all the time. And if there's already a fuse in that spot, then you need to use a fuse tap.

Flexx Alexander ThankYou for your comment. It’s the same Mercedes that I have but it’s a Uk version. And the Fuse tap, the fuse that I have for my dashcam is very small and the fuses in the car are quite big.. is there anything else I could do?

Hi Flexx, I purchased the dash cam because I saw your video of the product. Its only been a month I don't the car very often. So today when I got in the car the app would not connect. After several tries I uninstalled the app. Why did I do that because now it crashes every time I click on the app. Had my buddy download the app and the same thing happens to him. I wrote DMP but no one has responded. I know you don't make or sell the products but you do advertise for them. I never buy things from companies like this buy because I watched a lot of your videos and felt you were a stand up guy so I trusted you. So could you help me figure what's going on with the app? With out the app the dash cam is useless. Thanks

I’m not sure i can help you. I don’t have that car or dashcam anymore. I never had that issue when I had that dashcam. You definitely have to talk to DMP since it’s their product. Hard to say. I get no glare but also, my rear window is tint 35%. So that might help with glare if there is glare???

Flexx, is it possible to install it without the constant power wire? I mean, i want to connect the ground and acc wire in a cigarette lighter plug and use the cigarette outlet inside the glovebox

The acc only works as a trigger to let constant power flow to the dash cam. But theoretically, if a cigarette lighter plug will accept 2 wires (a ground wire and a power wire)....the dashcam can work by running the black ground wire of the dashcam to the ground wire of the plug. And then combining both the power wire and acc wire of the dashcam and connecting it to the power wire for the plug. This way...when the key is in the car...the plug will turn on with the key...and the acc will get power from the plug and tell the dashcam to accept the constant power from the power wire. At the end of the day...I don't recommend this method since it wasn't recommended by the product manufacturer.

Does it drain the battery? Also is it loop because mine mostly tells me to format the memory card

Doesn’t drain. The camera shuts off after the key is removed. And it loop record not randomly loops. When it fills up the card, it starts recording over old footage. That’s the loop. These are all common answers for almost every dash cam. I suggest you read up on dashcams and how they operate.

real time. But that's not the point. When are you going to be staring at your phone while driving. The purpose of the phone connection is to setup the dashcam and then used to view/download prerecorded footage.

@@TheYoungWarlock hey, not really. I went back to DMP car design, and they sent me a video of how to BREAK one of the clips to get it to mount properly.... Not just that, but to get some black tape to cover up the corners so it doesn’t look like it’s over hanging the tinted glass outline where the original cover is... How about you?

I'll update here whenever I find out just in case anyone else ends up buying one going forward. The install was super easy so far thanks to your video, appreciate the quick reply! EDIT: Ended up finding it from another of Flexx's videos, the app is called Ucam. Also the product code you need on the site to order is A13-1, I have a 2009 C63 but I believe that should work for all W204 C Class vehicles.

Flexx Alexander hi Flexx, you stated that it works if it’s turned on in the settings but you also mentioned in another comment that the dashcam turns off once the key is taken off the ignition... so how would the g sensor and motion movement work if the camera only works once the key is inserted into the ignition switch?

The dashcam has 2 power wires. 1 is connected to constant power and 1 is connected to accy (turns on with key). When the key is turned to on, the accy wire tells the dashcam to turn on 100% and power up. When the key is off, the accy wire tells the dashcam to power down/sleep. Because the dashcam is also connected to the constant power wire...there will also be a minimal amount of power still running to the dashcam. If the dashcam has parking mode turned on, if it detects movement...the software will tell the dashcam to power on (use the constant power) to start recording for a small amount of time and then go back to sleep (with minimal power again). The dashcam is never completely off. It's either sleeping or on. That's how 99% of all dashcams work.

Now I have the yellow and the red wire left to do but the fuse number 71 is already taken by another fuse, and fuse number 74 is not a place for fuse in my w204. Can you recommend what fuse I could use please?

Umm…dealerships don’t really touch aftermarket parts. You are better off going to a remote car start or speaker shop.

I’ve just tried to order this item on their website but it’s asking me for bank transfer which seems a little bit dodgy to me, can anyone vouch for DMP car design and bought from them before with no problems (apart from Flexx)? Please comment so I have confidence in buying as I’m a bit unsure at the moment
