How to install pendant lighting. This video will show you how to install pendant light fixtures over a kitchen island, although you could install pendant lights over a bar or other area as well. Installing pendant lights in the ceiling is straightforward and won't take much time. Adding pendant lights over the kitchen island is popular and easy to do.

Nice reminder video. I've hung chandeliers and such before it but has been probably 25 since I've done it. Watching this video brings me back up to speed. With wire nuts, I always wrapped them with a few turns of electricians tape just to make sure they don't come loose.

Thanks for sharing! It’s very helpful! My light fixture only has two wires(doesn’t have a ground wire) and the wall has three wires that are black,white,and a ground wire. What should I do?

I didn’t understand the ground to the green screw connection. Did you use an extra piece of copper wire or did you just pull the copper wire from the wall?

I have 3 light fixtures, only 2 of them have 2 sets of black and white wires. One of them has one set of black and white wires... I installed all 3, and the one with one set of wires is not turning on. The other 2 turn on and off just find with the wall switch. Any ideas?

It sounds like the one with 1 black and 1 white is the end of the line...the other 2 fixtures feed the next fixture and so on. Check the light fixture in front of the one that isn't working since that is where the power stops. Test the wires in the fixture that is not working to make sure it is getting power. Could be a bad fixture or even a bulb, even though the fixture is new.

Adding the locations is generally a quick job for an electrician. Unless you have some experience, I would get some bids.

Great video, not too long straight to the point! I noticed when you connected the wires (black to black, white to white etc) all you did was screw the wire nut on. Is that sufficient? Just that I have seen other videos where the person twisted the wire ends together and then screwed on the nut.

You can do either. The inside of the wire nut has threads that will twist the wires together. You can certainly twist together before you screw on the wire nut if that makes you more comfortable. Totally up to you

How do you lower the lights. We just had the same lights installed with 19.5 rods. They adjusted them too high, we want them lower. Please let me know. Thank you.

On the lights in this video, you would have to take the light off of the ceiling and add another section of downrod to lengthen the fixture.

Excellent video. Brief and to the point. Now $600/- question: I need to install 2 pendant lights similar to yours in a brand new home. I have 5 ceiling lights 2 above kitchen countertop. Can I DIY remove those lights and get to the junction box to install those large two suckers? I was quoted $600/- by a local electrician. Those two pendents price is less than $500/- Who I am quoted $600/- installation?

So you have 5 recessed can lights and want to replace 2 of them with pendants? Sure you can. There are kits made to do this and screw right into the existing socket, which is then covered by a larger escutcheon plate...or you could remove it and put in a compatible box.

@@MikeKlimek, yes sir. That’s my plan. I just bought 6-in wire stripper, Ideal Single range 50 to 1000V AC NCVT with flashlight to identify hot wire. I will take all safety precautions. Thanks for your suggestions. Take care.

Are the blue boxes the ones with the plastic tabs or the ones with the metal that expands after you push it through the holes? Do you know the weight of the fixtures?

Yes they are the blue remodeling boxes with the plastic tabs. The weight of the fixture is probably around 10 pounds

Try hanging one of these without the rods. Cutting them to same length is a pain
