This is how I installed #sewtites Magnum magnets on my longarm to easily load quilts!
I used two sets of 20.

I would love to see you load backing with the sew tites. I had them in my casing, but didn't have much luck, especially at the ends. Also, the demo video is on a different frame. I would love to see them on a continuum frame.

I have the Grace 21X Elite and love it. I have the Evolution Frame. I really want to try the magnets. Now that you have used them for 11 months do you have any pros/cons on them? I am researching the red snappers and the zipper systems. Also what is that “cup” you have on the side of your machine? I need that!!! 😊

So excited. Just got my 2 sets of magnum magnets. I don't need to install my ruler base to sew the pockets, do I?

Not necessarily. But you might find it awkward to stitch on the neck of the machine. That's how I did the first one but then I found it much easier with the ruler base. Be sure to side clamp very taut and you'll work it out. Have fun!

I only have a 1/2” seam on my leader. Would you suggest ripping it out or fold over to create casing to fit the magnets?

I guess that depends on how much depth you need on your leaders. I'd rip it out and re-stitch a 3/4" casing if it were me. That will prevent bulk on one side of the leader since you won't have a fold in that twill fabric.

I folded the edge of the casing up over the backing plus 1/8”. That leaves enough room for stitching a wiggle room.

20 on each rail.

Maybe stupid question but why do you have to enclose them? Just so they don’t move?

Yes, the backings can slide side-to-side inside the casing as needed to attach the fabric in the right spots.

For the backing material couldn’t you use a metal bar to fit the length you need? That would eliminate having to sew each smaller bar in place.

I would suppose that's an option. I've purchased a strip of metal like that to hang quilts with magnetic quilt hangars. It was very industrial in feel and much thicker than the backs of the Magnums.

I was thinking maybe the thin bars used for chain link fencing. You can tell I lived on a farm. LOL
