Visual Studio 2022 is a front engine for SQL Server Analysis Services. Let's see how to install both VS and the SSAS extension.
First of all, you need to install Visual Studio 2022. The community edition is free.
Then, you need to open Visual Studio and go to Extensions - Manage Extensions and install the extension.

This video is for SSAS. For other components, please go to ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kci5AgUqStQ.html for SSRS, and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RJl22PBuv_Q.html for SSIS.

Analysis Services projects 2022 is not compatible with tabular model connected to azure synapse dedicated SQL pool (data warehouse). This is really annoying, and no communication from Microsoft on if they are going to fix this. This information should be clearly stated in the documentation. If you are using synapse, you need to download and use the 2019 version

Hi Justin. That's annoying to hear - but at least you use can use the 2019 version for the time being. However, you may want to connect to Azure Synapse through (say) Power BI direct - see learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/888090/azure-synapse-dedicated-sql-pool-and-powerbi?page=1 for details. Hi Dwipayan. If you go to File - New Project, you should see both "Analysis Services Multidimensional Project" and "Analysis Services Tabular Project". If you can see one but not the other, try using the "Search for templates" to look for it. Phillip
