Thread sealant, much better than teflon tape in this application. However, do NOT put it on the female threads in the fuel pump. When you put the fittings in, it will push the sealant ahead of them, into the fuel pump and expose it to the flow of fuel on it's way towards your carb jets. Absolutely, put it on the male portion of the fittings before assembly.
Indeed, NEVER put sealant inside the thread or these bolt holes. You will cause seal residue and parts traveling through your oil system. A potential nightmare...
TIP if not already mentioned ~ the front mounting bolt can be screwdriver slotted [& are often found this way] as not everyone has a 1/4" drive socket set. This is achieved by mounting 2 hacksaw blades to cut the slot or an angle grinder & steady hand. This is an area that usually has an oil leak that goes unattended. A good heavy screw driver with square or hex drive works wonders as does using sealant on any threaded member that screws into a through hole to oil or coolant.
Well you guys make it look easy. I changed mine and can’t get fuel to it. After I primed It she ran and started fine. I noticed no leaks. But when I went out days later pump was dry.
I got a 1964 m38a1 keyser willy jeep. Not sure which fuel pump I can install, but it's got the very typical diamond shaped gasket shape like everything online. Answers from anyone would be great.
