I just wanted to thank you again for making this video. I installed these in my garage with no special tool based on this video and it was very straightforward. The hardest part ended up getting my old corroded brake rotors off, the portals were a walk in the park after that.
Great video! Only love here. Did anyone else see the classic brake line mishap at 5:11. Used a closed end to tighten the fitting. Only real auto mechanics know the struggle.
This is absolutely amazing & would like to have one for my LC II LWB someday (wish).. I have watched & enjoyed your 3 days trip video to the extreme & remote spot. This is great and absolute off-roading experience. Thank you for the marvellous works 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This MB platform was already considered to be immensely capable, but the installation of these portal axles changes that by an exceptional order of magnitude! Very nice indeed.
I'm the customer, only had them for a few weeks but they are awesome. They make this little 3' climb look like nothing but I have tried and failed to climb this section for 3 years prior, with the portals it was so easy it looks like nothing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8u2E6tp2p7c.html
I might have an usual wish. I have a 1980 W460 with an NA OM602 engine. I absolutely love the car and engine. Would it be possible to run this on portal axles or is it too underpowered. I am aware of the price tag of the axles. That is not an issue.
A1 work, You really know how to do it the correct way. Love those portals. What advantages do you get? Obviously ground clearance but is the gear ratio now lower or Higher? Maybe you can run much bigger tires. The portals look to be extra high quality. Thank you for the education!
What is the maximum speed we can drive on highway with these portals, assuming we use the 35" tires? Without worrying about getting to hot and destroy them.. Thx
Love this kit but curious on how the unsprung weight is affected. I read that the G500^2 has incredible ride quality despite the obvious increase in unsprung weight so I am a believer... just curious how it's done,
There is quite a bit of unsprung weight, but you can air down the tires as you drive which ends up giving a softer ride than any suspension could anyway. Instead of moving the weight of the axle, hubs, and wheels most rocks just have to move the tire rubber as it deforms around them.
What exactly does this portal box do do you gain anything from installing portal boxes on your axles I'm just honestly curious I've never heard of them until I watch this video
Allows you to install larger wheels. Changes gear ratio 1:1.35. Increases ground clearance by 130mm only due to portal axles (not including wheels). Allows you to install CTIS. And much more.
Saludos cordiales tiene el mismo sistema de un PINZGAUER M712 con la diferencia que su sistema de frenos es de disco y el M712 es de frenos de Tambor y sistemas de bandas .
Yes, we do portals for Toyota as well. Please contact us, we will answer all your questions +38 0 (63) 538 99 20 order@werewolftech.com detal4x4@gmail.com
We tested our portal axles at a speed of 160 km / h, there is no such heating of the oil, so that the oil has nowhere to go. Expansion tanks are not needed for these speeds.
@@Werewolf4x4 I have extensive experience in operating vehicles on portal final drives- they will not heat up at speed, they will heat up when driving with the locks on and they will warm up well! it is then that the oil works and heats up!
@@Andrei06363 If you watched our videos on the channel, you saw that we operate cars on rough terrain. Oil is not thrown out in our country. Expansion tanks were invented by Tibus, but they have a smaller volume of oil in the portal and an incorrect design of the breathers.
@@Werewolf4x4 the oil will squeeze out through the oil seals sooner or later if the air has nowhere to expand - for the same purpose the breathers are made for axels. I think if you are making a copy of something - correct the flaws in the original and make the better product
@@Andrei06363 I see no reason to continue the dialogue, I explained everything to you. Judging by the name, you are Russian-speaking, there are contacts in the channel description, dial me, we can discuss this issue
