In this video, we walk you through the installation of our newly revised VMP Plug and Play return style fuel system for the 2011 through 2017 Mustang GT.
With a completely redesigned fuel hat from our good friends at DW that features an OEM-style bucket design, this system will increase the fuel flow and volume to supply your high horsepower needs! This system also features a plug-and-play style design to retain factory safety features and operation such as safety disconnect in the event of an accident and key-on priming without having to cut up your factory wiring harnesses.

Awesome tutorial guys. Just got this done, there were a few differences because I was doing your rails as well but overall really easy and straightforward, the video was a great aid. For anyone who doesn't have the plug they used to test a workaround is to pull the plug from the FPDM and jump the side connectors only, vertically. Not horizontally, up and down the 2 on left and right of the plug. Used this to get around this for now but will get their plug for future use draining fuels! Thanks for a great product and fantastic guide VMP!

This is phenomenal and so well thought out. Great job VMP - this is worth the premium. No messing with factory wires or really any crazy work. This is literally plug and play. Working with Anthony to pair this with the new Gen3r kit he just set me up with! Keep it up guys!

so with steel braided lines being so abrasive to finishes it touches is there a reason the black nylon braid hose is not used?

I was so convinced I could pull this off until I saw a heat gun, and it brought some horrible DIY memories lol @VMPPerformance if I’m planning on going boosted within a year time frame, and I’m on a Flex Fuel Tune, can I still install this setup? Or do you recommend installing everything together, I’m slowly building everything and leaving the boost application for last. Thank you!

In regards to installing this kit, it will require a change to your tune to operate this system. If you're tuned through VMP, shoot your tuner an email through the ticketing system and they can walk you through the specifics regarding what'll need to happen to properly set this system up. It can be run NA, but you'll need aftermarket fuel rails and if you don't wish to purchase a set for that application just to change when you go boosted, it may make sense to install your supercharger kit and the fuel system together.

This fuel filter is different than on the 2020 Vmp return style systems. Whats part# for fuel filter on 2020 vmp return style fuel system?

just installed this kit on my odin definitely more work vs what you see here had to take the supercharger completely off also half to use specific spacers on the injectors (bottom ones ) or else lower unit would not sit right on intake ports properly also had to buy an additional fuel line with 2 8AN female fittings on each side to go from regulator straight to the 90 degree fitting off the fuel rail i mounted regulator on heat shield with self tapping screws other than the injectors overall job wasnt too bad

Going through the exact same situation right now. Got some lines/fittings coming from VMP to remote mount the regulator like the 18+ design. Hopefully it all works.

Doesn't mounting the regulator on the valve cover/head like that cause false knock on boosted cars? I would think the vibration could be a problem. I have a Procharged 16 and am about to get a fuel system. was looking at yours and it literally changed over night on the site? Now cost more. But my concerns are that knock problem. If my vaccum block can cause it tapping the intsake then surely this can too?

The change you've seen regarding the fuel system has to do with a complete redesign of the fuel hat in partnership with DW and upgrading a few of the other components as well. As for mounting and false knock, we've been running this exact installation (the car featured here) since October when this video was filmed with no issues, leaks, or knock symptoms. This system was designed with flexibility in mind and the regulator we're using does feature two threaded holes if you wish to use a bracket to mount it. While this particular video features an installation onto a VMP Gen3R and VMP fuel rail equipped car, folks may experience some variances in their specific build depending on the power adder used, fuel rails used, so on and so forth. We'll be releasing a video covering the 18+ Mustang variation of this fuel system tonight which is equipped with a bracket and mount on the driver's side strut tower for a side fed rail. This may suit your particular application better as other than the rail feed location, the kits are identical from the firewall back. What specifically is different from this kit and the plug and play kit you had just a while ago? I've been looking at it for a couple months and the pump assembly looks significantly different. First time I've seen that assembly. Does it justify a 400 dollar increase in price?

The biggest difference would be the completely redesigned fuel hat. It's a first of it's kind in the aftermarket, utilizing a fully redesigned OEM style bucket to prevent fuel starvation under hard acceleration and cornering. It's specific to this hat and not a modified OEM bucket, so there's no cutting, modification, or sealing to worry about.

what if your using Whipple rails do you need to buy (2) of the Whipple fuel adapters or just one? just ordered my kit.

Are relays just tucked under the cover? Not mounted? Just curious

We typically tuck the relays into a safe space where they won't move underneath the seat, or in the case of this car, the rear seat delete. You want them to be easily accessible in case you need to service them or diagnose an issue.

Does the blower have to come off if running an Odin to install this fuel system ?

The path of least resistance is to remove the lid without disconnecting the hoses and tip it forward onto the nose of the vehicle/radiator cover. Then undo the hardware that holds the lower portion of the blower on so you can tip it to access the ports on the rails. That method makes it much easier to make your connections.

From our experience, this mounting style or using the provided mounts that come with the filter both work well depending on the specifics of your application. We aimed to provide the simplest routing with this kit, but it does have some flexibility to mount items like the fuel filter how ever the end user would prefer.

@@VMPPerformanceTV to each their own I guess.. something about mounting a clamp to a metal line living in a rust belt state makes me cringe lol. Would prob try and use a rubber exhaust hanger to wrap it around and bolt it up.

@@dshook1989 understood! A larger rubber lined P clamp could be a great alternative as well. The rust belt changes a lot of considerations when modifying and just trying to maintain a vehicle!

This kit will work with any system (NA/Nitrous/Turbo/Supercharged) that's using an aftermarket fuel rail. In the case of a Roush supercharger system, it may still be using the factory rails and would require that you upgrade your fuel rails as well.

Our kit requires an -8 AN feed into the rails. As long as your rails accept a -8AN feed, you'll be good. If not, you'll need aftermarket rails. It's likely that your rails with the Roush kit were set up to work with the stock connections, which will not work with this kit.

We had the opportunity to work with DW and design a fuel pump hat that fit like OEM and provided a few more features that lent itself to OEM behavior and operation while providing the performance of upgraded pumps and line sizing. This particular hat utilizes a, first of it's kind in the aftermarket, OEM style bucket that assists in keeping the pumps fully submerged. This is not a modified factory bucket. The benefit of preventing fuel starvation under hard acceleration and corning from the bucket design was worth the effort!

The fuel systems are the same from the firewall back. From the firewall forward, the layout is different. We have an option for 18+ cars and the install video covering the differences will be launching this week.
