Hi, I'm thinking about this for my 21 Elantra and I like the idea of using the interior lights because they are cheaper for a similar effect. I do have some questions though, if you don't might helping me understand this a bit better. It has been more than a year and a half, how are they holding up? When you connect them to the battery like that (which is what I assumed you did, cause I didn't see you connect it), do the lights come on anytime the battery is on? If you are inside the car, can you still use the remote to control the lights or is the connection too far away?
They’ve still held up .. I connected it to the fuse box positive post and just grounded it on a bolt in the engine bay.. it’s Bluetooth powered so you have an app and turn on and off when you want to .. it reaches a pretty far distance before you lose signal
@@swaveyymike thanks. this really helps me. This weekend I am putting a set into my car and maybe next month I'll put this into my grill. The Elantra has a really neat honeycomb grill that I think is more popular, but I had never noticed before. Again, thank you for the help.
@@swaveyymike I did that, and the lights stay on all the time. Do I need to also connect the switch that came with cigarette lighter and how do I connect that switch? What wires
@@swaveyymike Yes that’s the way I have it. Red wire to positive like you did it and grounded on chassis. Lights stay on and can’t controlled from app. Really odd. By the way thanks for your reply and help. Melvin
Black cable ground to any bolt in engine bay and red cable positive connect to positive post beside fuse box.. it’s Bluetooth controlled within an app and you can power on/off and change colors
I did it myself and yes didn’t mention how I wired it but it’s grounded pretty much anywhere in engine bay and positive to the positive post beside fuse box
Lmao Mike good video, but I think next time to some of the people who don't know electrical terms, you might want to use wire colors when explaining how you wired something. Red wire to the red positive next to the fuse box and the black wire to anything metal in the engine same thing as if you had to jump someone's car.
Where the hood latch is I forced my arm in there I did get a lot of scratches and stuck a few times but it was worth it for not taking off the bumper 😆 and then it’s just 3m taped under and zip tied
Damn dude. I tried for sure but I couldn’t do it! I got mine just at the radiator on the top of the grille for now. Will probably take that bumper off in the future
