To get the best light out of the wicks on your oil lamps, soak the new and unused wicks in white vinegar for a day or so, then dry them out completely. They will burn white and bright after that.

There's at least one Goss family in AR, the place on I30 that sells camper shells and things for trucks is called Goss Camper Shells. I buy my fiberglass bed toppers/camper shells there and when my trucks get worn out or destroyed they sell the old one on consignment and order a new one for the newer ford one ton.

Those single wall pipes will be fine as long as you clean it out regularly, there will be a a lot of creosote build up due to the temperature change as it heads outside. Those insulated chimneys are designed to reduce the temperature change between the cold steel and the exhaust gases. Nice dry hardwood will help reduce your issues as well. You should have a cleanout at the 90 elbow outside to make it easier on yourself. Lastly you should have those joints outside the other direction, the creosote is going to run down the outside of the pipe. Makes me want my own off grid office!
@KyBrancaccio
@KyBrancaccio 2 года назад
Yep good catch!, creosote liquid will run out of the pipe with the wrong seem direction. This is the kind of mistake one can make when crimping fits without knowing the direction is very important for fire hazard. Please correct it for your safety. I was hoping someone already caught this when I first watched this. He does a great job and they have great viewers to always keep a caring eye out for the rare mistake we might see on our favorite youtube channel.
@nadiar.7788
@nadiar.7788 Год назад
@J-Roc Geo @Ky Brancaccio Can you please elaborate what you mean about the creosote? Do you mean that it will seep from the joints (the third piece from the bottom with the top and bottom metal rings) and then run outside the pipe?
@wanabetruckerdave3776
@wanabetruckerdave3776 Год назад
@@nadiar.7788 yes, because he put the joints together backwards there will always going to be a problem with creosote seeping from the joints. Most everybody that dont understand how drafts in pipe/chimneys work thinking the smoke will come out of the joints if not installed like this dude did. Smoke/draft naturally wants to stay in the middle of the pipe.

18:29 I was 11 years old in the Ozark Mountains on the border of Pope County & Newton County, resembling your video with lanterns. At the time, in the 1980's & 1990's the electric would go out for weeks. Sometimes 2 weeks at a time. Wood stove so not cold. But no lights, no antenna TV, nothing other than a grandma sewing quilts for warmth, a WWII veteran grandpa talking about how evil Saddam Heussein was, and little young me soaking in 'merica!. Love you Poppy Ranch Family, you helped a man who lost both his sisters before they were 35 and finally coping with the loss in the last year. It took a long time. Your videos helped me. Watching you show me what God offers me is one of the most important things I have ever seen in my life. I believe in you and your videos are paramount to my recovery. I finally realized after a while, I need to visit my sisters daily. God wants me to. He wants me to know I will be with them some day and talking only helps me cope with them leaving faster than I expected. Your work, your work for your children, your lovely wife Cedar, and your failures and acceptance you are not perfect have helped me to know, God calls us all at different times. My sisters were needed and chatting with them on my own is how I cope with that. I am now working for myself on UpWork as Brian Standridge and making my way following your leads. Fixing to install my 1st wood stove in my home within the next week or 2. Love you all & Love you Angela and Tina.

Look into those soapstone heat blocks for the cabin. A block you can set on the woodstove for a few hours to prewarm the bed and give you extra heat after the fire has gone out will be useful in the small cabin and unlike a hot water bottle they can't freeze up if left in the cabin when away. If you have some of that old roof tin leftover you can make a quick and dirty heat shield for the cabin using sections of pipe as spacers to keep the tin an inch or so off the wall for a good airflow behind the shield. A plow truck is a temporary solution to a lifetime issue as the act of plowing damages the truck. A long term solution is a front mounted snowblower on something that can do 2-3 trips up and down the road in a good time with the driver/operator in comfort. Find yourself a rear mounted snowblower and a motor you can use to power it to make a self contained blower unit you can front mount on a tractor or on that backhoe removing the need for a front PTO output or a strong enough hydraulic system to run a blower.

This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list ru-vid.comUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

Great buy with the Blizzard Plow, I have an 8’6” blizzard on my F350 and use it for commercial snow removal. If it’s anything like mine, make sure you’ve got repair kits for hoses on it, if it’s able to hydraulically attach itself on and off the truck, if you break a line or piston you won’t be able to take the plow off the frame. Ask me how how I know 😂

That was about 15 years ago after spreading it about 5 to 6" thick and wetting it down, packing it, it's still holding up pretty well. I do level it every year or so with a box scrapper really like the stuff.

That shed you built up top with the new fireplace looks good but noticed the back outside of the cabin is touching the ground , not a good idea having that dirt up against it, wood siding and structural pillars and beams touching that damp ground will rot that backside before you know it, take the time to remove atleast 12 inches so the dirt and snow don't rot it out .

This very thing has been on my mind since the little cabin was originally constructed. Back before I I knew better, I hired someone to build new steps to the front door of my rural home, because the old steps had rotted out. This person built a nice set of new steps, but the riser for the bottom step was resting on the ground. These new steps rotted out in about four years. One would hate to see this happen to the back of the cabin. Hopefully, something has been done that viewers don't know about to protect the back part of the cabin where it - appears - to be resting on the ground. Also, the pillars supporting the front part of the cabin appear to be resting on the ground as well, if not embedded in the ground. These pillars might not last long in the climate of south-eastern Idaho.
