Installing A Fire Extinguisher On My Nissan 370Z Nismo!!

Today I install a $15 accessory in my Nismo 370Z that could save a life, or a car!
After seeing some recent news on leaves causing fires in cars, I figured I would install a fire extinguisher in my 370Z. This was super cheap to do and very easy to mount the bottle within reach inside the cabin. For less than $15 you can do this to your own car and will be prepared if you end up needing it on the track or in the mountains.

Great video I basically did the same thing with my Nismo. I’m glad to see somebody actually cares and made a video about it because I saw a friends car burn To the ground and no one had a fire extinguisher

It's crazy how many people thought it was a bad idea or they just didn't like the location where I put it! But cars like Ferrari's come standard with one or it's optional. Every car should have one really, it's a cheap way to save someone's life or a car.

I'm about to remove the rear seat and build a wall where the seat was for my genesis. I didn't think about this but I'm totally gonna put one in now.

Get one of those aluminum under trays. I installed one on my Z and it’s worth the money since you only need to install it once. Since they have a small door to allow you to change the oil.

Do you plan on keeping your stock seats? Or switching up ?

5:45 Release handle on seat back? Don't think you need to crank the angle adjustment to lean the seat forward.

As per their UL Listing and qualification UL tests all dry chemicals to operate at up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This includes the Kidde® automotive fire extinguisher. The operational test requires the fire extinguisher to discharge at a specified time and powder amount. UL does not have the option of testing for operation above 120 degrees. At temperatures above 120 degrees the fire extinguisher will still function, but the discharge time may be a little shorter than the 9 to 10 seconds required by UL. UL requires the fire extinguisher to be able to withstand storage at 175 degrees without rupture. High temperatures will decrease the life of the elastomeric seals, so storage above 120 degrees will decrease the life of the fire extinguisher. (120f - 48c. 175f - 79c)

There was a huge recall on the Kidde fire extinguishers. Be sure to check on their site to see if yours were recalled.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe oil capacity is 5.2 quarts with the oil filter on.

Shouldn’t the fire extinguisher be standing straight up and not on its side?🤔

Next time use amsoil its better than mobil1
@rowboyto156
@rowboyto156 6 лет назад
Blackstone laboratory tested and compared both oils also with royal purple. Amsoil came on top, I prefer mobil 1 to royal purple anyday cus royal purple disintegrates at high heat but amsoil is a group 4 oil which is race oil and will protect the motor better specially on track days
@rowboyto156
@rowboyto156 6 лет назад
Z33 DRIVERJG we have a rx7 fc shop car we use for shows and drag events, we used a greddy t78 turbo and once used royal purple to dyno tune the car. White smoke was coming from the turbo and when we tried to get greddy to rebuild the turbo the rebuild guy said the heat disintegrated the oil and damage the turbo. Thats where i got it from. We were using mobil 1 before but the car would overheat after 3-4 runs depending on weather and noticed excessive wear in the motor from the ceramic apex seals when we take it apart. We tried amsoil and noticed the temps were 5-8 degrees lower which isnt much but the biggest surprise is when we took the motor apart there were minimal scratches on the walls compare from before

@rowboyto156 6 лет назад
The team that told us to use it puts it in their L28 turbo swap 240z show and time attack car. I guess its overkill on a stock block but if its my only car ill overdo it so i have money to fix the car up rather than fixing parts i broke

Yeah, I'll pass. I have no plans for the track.

Not just the track tho. A GTR owner in my area was in the mountains and leaves got caught up in the exhaust. Whole car burned to the ground. Pretty cheap way to potentially save your car or someone else's. I have one in my GTR now too
