The 2nd gen ZR2 was known to have weak tie rods. Since they didn't redesign them ,I would definitely put sleeves on. It was the first mod I did on my 23 ZR2. Gonna install the Eibach coil overs on the front with a 1" puck and add a leaf to the rear . Just waiting on my wheels to come in.
I honestly didn’t think it would make such an impact but it definitely does. And it was easy enough to . And ride quality is still the same as stock she rides like a Cadillac
Great video and just in time I’m installing a 2/1 lift on my 24 zr2 Tuesday hoping it goes this smooth… truck looks good !! Get the 35s tell your wife you can get good money for your stock tires haha
I went with the shackle just because i don’t have much experience with add a leafs and I’m scared they could eventually start to sag. Did you torque anything to spec or just kind of snug it up? I tend to over think crap haha
@@east_coast_stickbow I just snugged it up made it all tight but didn’t crank anything to tight if that makes sense. And I plan on doing the shackle as well. And doing the add a lead isn’t bad I’ve seen some videos. Involves cutting clamps off. But that’s only really needed if you’re going to have a lot of weight in the back. Like a rtf. Be careful when you put the lower spacer in to not let the spring rotate on ya. Other than that you’ll be golden.
Right on.. i guess the ball joint isn’t like the cotter pin style where you can make it to tight. I got the cce preload spacer so i plan to just compress the spring and then it’s two pieces.
@@east_coast_stickbow there no cotter pins thankfully lol. And the tire rod and sway bar link both just require a 10 mm on the stud while you loosen the nut.
Just curious, did you do a diff drop with the spacers? Also, just a heads up, after I did my 1 1/4 " Level kit on my 2020 ZR2my sway end links wore out pretty quick. Just ordered level ups ZR2 end links and sway bar upgrade relocation kit to fix the knocking noise from sway bar linkage.level ups end links are 1" longer so it should work better with leveling spacers
I did not do the diff spacer but will when I go up another inch in the front. And I’ll keep my ears open about issues with sway bar links in the 3rd gen’s after lifting. I haven’t heard anything like any yet. Appreciate the advice.
@@jimverw5863 no I did not. I never took off the upper control arm completely. Truck drives great still. But I have a bigger lift coming soon so I’ll do it then. If your just doing the spacer and your done then I’d get an alignment
Good question. I have not seen any issues related to the tie rods having issues. Level up sells some sleeves that I will probably put on my tie rods at some point just to be safe
@@Coyotezr2 changed the shackles. Wasn't going to but the 2 inches in front made the truck almost exactly level. So on certain surfaces it looks nose up. I hate that. So far, so good.
@@davidwethington9320 right on how’s the ride with the shackles? And additional lift. I’m fixing on doing that as well once I get some 35 inch tires and wheels lined up.
@@Coyotezr2 didn't change much. Seems a little stiffer in front maybe. Tires will be the issue. C load that comes on it ride smooth but most 315's or 35's are E/10 ply.
@@davidwethington9320 I know good year territory mt like what comes stock on the truck make a c ply 315. Is that I’ll probably do cause I like good year. And these tires have been great thus far.
Idk. I didn’t ask the dealer. If I notice any issues with it I’ll take off the spacers and then bring the truck in 🤫 lol but in all seriousness if I had any issues with shocks they would probably find a way to blame the spacers.
My dealer said the only parts that are affected are related to the change. Meaning if your CV 's take a crap at 20k you're paying. If your motor or transmission have issues you're still covered.
@@Coyotezr2 I see some people loosening bolts with an impact wrench, even the ones you used the two wrenches on. Any reason why using two wrenches is needed?
@@bamafan7 because of instead of a cotter pins that 10 mm I’m using is needed ti loosen the nuts. Or else the nut will not come off. (Don’t know the name of the part) And you can use an impact. I chose not to. I like having more control of what I’m doing.
I have 2 colorado zr2 s and both are lifted and a level is not exactly a lift kit . you need to go at least 2 inches to be considered a lift kit . just saying
I respect your opinion. in my eyes i physically lifted the front end so its a lift kit. and i do plan on going a inch higher in the front and a inch taller in the back.
