Installing a MANUAL & ELECTRIC Bilge pump in my Sailboat [Ep 23]

So, yesterday the wind was literally blowing 30 to 40 knots, and I really wanted to take my sailboat (Yellow Mellow) for some pressure testing. I called my friend Jules from ‪@svremy‬, as he is such an experienced sailor and he's always there to help me with my endless boat questions when I need it, and I asked him to take Yellow Mellow for a hardcore sailing session on which he immediately agreed, LETSGO! 5 min later I receive a callback and he asks me if I already installed bilge pumps (among some other safety features) and my answer was no. It was clear that before we go for pressure testing, the boat needs to be 110% ready and safe. All clouds have a silver lining. We didn't go for that hardcore pressure test (YET), but I have a list with extra boat jobs now that will get us there. So first things first! Lets get some bilge pumps installed! WOOOOOOOOOOOOH!

Alll riggghttt!! great DIY job Adriano&assistent!!! 👍💪💪👊And some fresh water to also clean the bildge where salt water was in it as you said also good!! My hand bildge pump is in the seperate motor room down(stairs) and not really feel as good place in emergency ("when sinking"). So I did install for time being a water alarm in lowest part of my boat too (a basic one which is used for water spills of washing machines).

Thanks amigo 🥰. Of course the bilge pump won't stop the boat from sinking, but it buys us some extra time to evacuate 😄Good you have an alarm, but does it also work without electricity?

@@LowBudgetSailing Agree. The water alarm is on battery. So yes I need to check it in a while without needing diving equipment to do so one day because battery died earlier😅

@@LowBudgetSailing For now in the (in my opinion) beautiful city i life in since 2019..Den Helder. But as my friends and family life in the Zaanstreek and when crossing from Friesland where i bought the boat I felt more happy there with them being close around....and not yet wanting to conquer the seas and seeing the world as you..I first move back to the Zaanstreek soon..leaving my beloved city for some time.
