I finally got around to installing a rare JDM inclinometer out of a 2nd gen Hilux Surf (4runner) into my 3rd gen 4runner. I had won this on a japanese auction a few years ago. I have only come across two. IG: Billy Fargon
@@BillyFargon oh, some mechanical indicator of lateral tilt w/ redzone at rollover threshhold....I do mechanical design, and I've had my 4Runner at some precarious angles....never thought to search the webs for such a thing...but that JDM is brilliant
Hi Billy, I enjoyed this so much I bought me one from The U.A.E. I have one question, you tested the wires with a battery, how did you determine which wires in that glob of harnesses under the dash to hook the device to, thanks?
Thanks! If I remember right I tapped into the clock power wire. I used a test light in the clock harness to determine which of the two wires was the power feed and shared that one. And it’s super close to where the inclinometer is mounted so I barely had to run any wire to reach it.
Nice! Calibrating it is super easy. You just pull the knobs out a little and turn them while pulling. It will manually adjust the level then when you get it where you want just let go.
Shame its so hard to find info on these things. Getting ready to install one in my 2000 tundra AC. Been looking for ideas, really great video. Where'd you get that patch at?
I’ve been looking for the past 20 minutes and I can’t find where I got that particular one. A good place to inquire though is “Toyota patch club” on Facebook
It was made for 99 Prado. 4runner came with another one, a little different. Prado ones better though. It is usually installed om roof behind sunroof controls.
I've got a 99 sr5 same color. Your attention to detail and fastidiousness makes me feel bad about myself, lol. Sweet rig. Mines oxidizing as we speak. Wanna buy a TRD supercharger, gen2 (black one)?
Nice! Do you have the nice low profile black fender trim? Don’t feel bad, it’s dirty as heck and doesn’t get washed often! I would love a supercharger but the cost... yikes!!
@@BillyFargon my poor baby has 260,000 Midwest winters and 3 collisions on it, cosmetically it's a wreck. Mechanically it's like new. Planned obsolescence can't take down this driveline.
I have a one in mine factory. Theyre all jdm i suppose. All 4runners were made in Japan that were shipped here. Fairly easily found in forums and ebay. Just expect to pay 300$.
You just have a first gen because that’s the only one that came stock in the US with one. 2nd gens had them overseas and 3rds never had them at all. This is a 2nd gen inclinometer retrofitted. Way more rare than first gen. But they are both awesome.
@@BillyFargon Oh. Gotcha. I suppose i didnt look to hard at the rest of the dash.. I thought you were installing on a first gen. My bad bud! Keep the videos coming dude🤘
