It will definitely help prevent the kids from rolling their bike up the ledge. Well done. I'm looking to install a 150' fence along the ditch in front of my cabin. I really like the old west rustic look of the 2 hole split rail.

When my son was small we lived next to a drop off. Having a soldi fence sure makes it easier to let the little ones play without worrying too much. Great project!

As a mom myself that would help a bit with my boys riding their bikes with such a drop off at a young age. But when they got older they dared each other all the time then the real challenge will begin again.But it does look great and what a view y'all have.Great job !👍🏻

Interesting that you only used gravel to hold it place. I like that idea. I want to build one around my vegetable garden. Coupled with some wire to keep critters out. 150 feet needed. Thanks for sharing. Very nice house and land you have there.

Im building my own for my garden out of white oak and pine on our property with 1.5" pallet pickets. Making it youself you can have a split-rail fence instead of a sawn-rail fence. How would you have made yours differently?

Great job, fence looks perfect. I had a friend growing up, his name was Joe. His nickname was "No Toe Joe", he earned that from riding his bike with no shoes and got his big toe caught between the chain and sprocket, bad enough to lose it. Not judging, just an observation and what could happen, that's all.

Yet another wonderful video. The fence looks great. May we ask what you did to secure the posts. We saw the gravel but was concrete used of just packed dirt?

Did you cement the posts into the ground? Or did you just use gravel and dirt? I'm building a log home now and we are thinking about doing a split rail fence between us and the neighbor. Thx.

Hello, was this from a kit? Did the post come pre drilled with the holes, along with the notches for the fence rails?
@AnaWhiteDIY
@AnaWhiteDIY 5 лет назад
Yes the pieces are all available off the shelf The posts are either ends, lines or corners The rails come in a couple of length options too
@tylermoran9083
@tylermoran9083 4 года назад
So you dont need to pour concrete to set each post? I was told you should
@irafair3015
@irafair3015 Год назад
It is not necessary to pour concrete on every post on a split rail because there is very little area for wind resistance. It is recommended to pour concrete on posts of gates if you have any and on some of the line posts but it is generally not needed.

Good video, but you had another guy helping you and no roots to deal with. Nor slope. Nor particularly stubborn soil from what I saw. Not to mention the two-man auger, which is a beast. SURE, it's easy to do in two hours if you have those resources. For those who DIY on their own, it took me a weekend to do the same 70ft. FWIW.
@gabrielhaase318

Nothing worse than auger getting stuck in the ground! Either stuck between rock and petrified dirt, or in roots.
