In this video, I install a tachometer in the split bus.
I have since gotten the bus on the highway and it cruises at 60-65mph at around 3500RPM with 205/75/R15 all terrain tires, a stock transmission, and large nut gear reduction boxes.
Thanks for watching!!!

does your bus have a electric power steering unit? also are you using a FACET fuel pump? i hear the familiar tic tic tic or it could be something else...

Bro, can you please send the AAC instructions, I have lost mine
@gottasplit5707
@gottasplit5707 Год назад
unfortunately I don't have my instruction paperwork anymore. If I remember correctly the sending wire just goes to the negative side of the coil, the positive goes to a fuse on the fuse box just for power, the power for the light goes to a piggyback connector on any other gauge bulb, and the grounds all get connected to any ground screw. there might be a forum or somewhere online to get the original instructions though. any other aftermarket gauge instructions should also work.

Hey, welcome back! I really like the way that looks so period correct. Hopefully you've been well, it's been a while since the last vid

Welcome back! Thought you might have taken a long distance ride on a UFO, or playing parcheesi with Sasquatch. Installing a tach is a smart idea, especially pushing that engine in modern traffic conditions.

Thanks! Haha, nope, no UFO or Sasquatch, just a bunch of poorly timed life complications. Glad to be making videos again!

Thanks! I've been to that point with my van many times. The constant break downs aren't so fun.

This made me miss my bus SO bad... but I've got a '63 Beetle to console my sorrows with, so it's all good. I've been thinking about a tach for a while, this is motivational.

Great video. Can you put in links to the items? (Piggyback connectors, wire insulation/ heat shrink)? Thanks. I have an ISP tach on the way that will replace the "dead spot" (sometimes there is a clock in the spot) in my early bay dash So it will look factory :). I really thought that Air-cooled accessories would have had a little better fitment of the bracket o well at least it was an easy fix. It looks good!

Good to see you out there again. I haven't delved into the bus world but I admire your efforts. My vanagon keeps getting better at a geologic rate of time. Looking forward to actually using it some day for it's intended purpose rather than just sitting in the driveway!
