Thank you for the video. After installing many hitches on many different vehicles over 45 years the minivan was the last straw I took in to a shop and paid to have it installed. Our driveway is steep and there was no way to do it in the garage. Your parents are nice. Your dad has an organized work space. Can't wait to see where your travels take you and your bicycles. Safe travels.

I just did this same project. Trailer hitch, wiring harness, and swing out hitch with a cargo box. You’re gonna love having it Leslie!

The swing out hinges is a good idea. I missed your post. Keep them coming. It's great to have time with your family.

Hi Laura, We wanted to do this campervan thing so we didn't have to be tied to work and could spend more time with 'em. Thanks for stopping by to say hi!

Nicely done LK👍🏼 You would get a kick out of the set-up on my SUV. LSS (it was a huge ordeal): Inside mounted spare became outside-mounted to the tailgate, drop down Thule bike rack, cargo box on top. Plan on shooting a video of it soon.

Oh my gosh, your parents are so cute! What a blessing that you still have them both. Well done on the install of your trailer hitch! I think I paid the Honda Dealer like $1500 to install a trailer hitch on my SUV (that included the hitch and two sizes of balls, as well as the labor for the install), which now seems HORRIBLY overpriced! Thanks for the tip on the eTrailer site. Can't wait to see what your van looks like with the bikes on the back. Best of luck on the adventures you will have bringing them along from now on.

Hi Alis! I agree, it's great that they're in good health and we're lucky to be able to spend this much time with them. Thanks for taking the time to check in.

Finally, a new video from ya! The trailer hitch on mine (identical to your van) was easy-peasy. Took me about an hour, and I worked at a leisurely pace. The lift kit...not so much, lol. I've gotten the roof rails on it, and the flex craft bars are waiting to be installed, along with A/T tires. Your build really has inspired mine, and I've shamelessy stolen several of your ideas. OK...after seeing yours in the driveway, you just gotta put a Traxda lift kit on that thing! It's only a 2" lift, but that extra clearance makes a BIG difference in where you can go.

Hey Zardoz! Good to hear from you. I'm so jazzed that you were able to use some of these crazy ideas I put out here. I LOVE the idea of a lift. Did you install yours on your own?

@@TheVanThatGotAway, yep. Installed it with a friend of mine. Not *too* difficult, but having a mechanic install it would have been worth it. Dark side motoring is where I got the kit.
