The court tile was originally designed by a team of orthapedic surgeons to reduce impact stress to muscles and joints. There are additional benefits described on the Basketball-Goals.com web site.
What's the point of this product? The family already has a concrete slab on the ground, which is all you need for an outdoor basketball court. If anything, that plastic laid on top is going to result in a worse bounce, because it isn't as rigid as the concrete, and it isn't bonded to the concrete either, so in any areas for which the plastic panels aren't laying perfectly flush on the concrete, you'll get "dead spots" where the ball doesn't bounce well. Plus, plastic is slippery compared to concrete.
These tiles are designed for sports and have undergone testing as part of that designation. The tile was originally designed by a team of orthopedic surgeons to reduce the Impact stress delivered to the body when playing on a hard surface such as concrete or asphalt. Initially, this tile was designed for tennis and plays similar to a clay court. Ball response and reflexivity is excellent for tennis, basketball, and other sports. Many pro atheltes from former world #1 tennis doubles champion Jonas Björkman to basketball great Scottie Pippen have these tiles on their own home court and have given their endorsement. In addition to being a great playing surface, these tiles have a a textured surface with a flow through design which increaes footing grip, while allowing water to quickly flow through them creating less court downtime. The tiles are also made with a UV protectant in them to absorb the harmful UV rays of the sun. UV rays help breakdown the components of asphalt to promote cracks. With the tile is place the life of the subsurface is increased. This means the time between resurfacing is far greater than it would have been if tiles were not used. The UV protectant in the tiles actually makes your court about 10 degrees cooler than without the tiles. In addition to all this, these tiles just plain old look great, and can also increase property value. We have sold these sports tiles just about everywhere from the Swiss Alps to the deserts in Iraq and just about anywhere in between.
I stayed at a hotel and they had a basketball court with this material. First time I saw it, so I was inspecting it very closely. The bounce was ALMOST the same as the concrete, but had a lot less sound as a consequence of the material. If you are making a basketball court in your backyard, it would be a good idea to install this flooring if your neighbors are close
I know your comment is old but the kid didn't travel! lol He took 2 steps after catching the ball. Looks like 3 but the step before he didnt have the ball in his hand yet but it was close
zerocal76 Guess what? While I was watching Shaq and Giannis highlights (because I miss the NBA) I saw your comment pop up and it took me an hour to respond because of how appalled I was. You know that’s a travel, My two year old niece would have called him on that. I’m about Tweet James Harden this video and he would even say that’s a travel and we all know he loves that double step-back. It’s a turnover. Sorry, ball goes back to his dummi thicc mom
@@ALIG-gz9cx hahaha yeah yeah. Where is the travel then? He takes 2 steps after he catches the ball. If you really want to nitpick, he takes a step in the process of catching the ball but he doesn't have control of the ball yet, which is why that step does not count. Prove me wrong if you bother replying again!
Justin B typically a leaf blower is used. We also sell a tool that can easily separate the tiles so a length of tile can be picked up and debris blown or swept out
