We have a very similar wall construction in my area. When they get weathered and covered in growth they definitely look like they could be cement. The old steel ones stand out though. Bright red from the rust when they're dry, and almost ink black with old growth below the high tide line.

Unless it's carbide tipped then you blow the tips off. Start with the clutch on and never worry about breaking pilots

You turn the torque down to prevent shearing in the case of the bit seizing. That way if it seizes, ypu back out and take another shot, then up your torque limit. Touch grass, buy tools, and use some logic.

I did inspections at a harbor where they were building new docks. They let so much plastic shavings go out to see. Thousands of harbors releasing tiny bits of plastic every day.

Man tell me about it they redid one of the bridges in my small town a few years ago me and some friends were fishing down river all kinds of concrete dust and all other sorts of debris were floating down needless to say we stopped fishing for the day and what made it even worse is that it was right at the mouth of the river that flows into lake huron

​@@spamsandwich6854dude you should have reported that to the EPA or something... There's strict rules and expensive fines for this kind of incompetency. Because when they get away with it, it continues to happen. There's going to be more plastic in our oceans than fish by 2050!!!!!! And the scary thing is, it's too late to try and fix it... Unless you could stop all new plastics from going into the ocean from now on ...AS WELL AS clean up all the previously dumped plastics from the past years it is absolutely not going to change anything :(

I brought a whole lotta 6mm drill bits for replacements for them. Just gotta chuck em backwards and run some sandpaper over the base so they can fit into the hole saw base.

That adjustment is a clutch. Its basically a torque limiter. Its like the drag set on a fishing reel. It doesnt control speed, just makes it stop working at a certain amount of resistance. Handy for setting depth in some settings to not blow through. You do however have a control on the top of your drill, the black switch, that does what you want.

Came here looking for the same comment lol. but honestly the way he adjusted the clutch is the best way to prevent the problem he was having, slower speed with a higher clutch setting could still sheer the bit, but with a lower clutch setting its much harder to break the bit

@@datboydt958operator error is why he sheared the bit. These are hollow fiberglass. Clutch could be on one and it would still eat right through that. The bit broke through and the drill jumped and that’s why he broke his bit.

You’re really clueless, East Asia dumps millions of metric tonnes of trash into the sea. Including industrial waste, less than a gram of (not micro plastics) shavings into the water will have zero impact.

For twist bits yes, usually not for hole saws though, which generally require lower rpm and will take your arm off if binds and you don't use the clutch

@@reuben-rt Most drills have anti-kickback, they'll just shutoff automatically if they detect they're rotating freely. You don't use the clutch for drilling. You can lower the RPM by changing the gear on top of the drill.

@@okbrb most drills is quite an overstatement, e.g. no regular DeWalt drill has this aside from a few of the SDS/special ones. For larger hole saws (or any), yes, you would want to use the clutch. Not the same as using a normal twist drill

I thought exactly the same. The numbers on the chuck are torque for tightening screws. Theyre not drill speed, this video makes no sense. Hes using the drill wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️ Fyi. I use dewalt drills daily. Never have i used the numbers on the chuck to try and speed up or slowdown the drill.

My county would consider that as polluting the water. They literally have decided that dirt going into the river is an environment catastrophe. It's so bad I wasn't allowed to knock down a flooded shed on my property because it had a dirt floor. The erosion inspector said it'd be leaving exposed dirt in a wetland

@ironbeagle2686 Nope, back two acres are next to a river and are considered a wet land, large amounts of dirt into the river causes algea blooms. It still makes it expensive to fix retaining walls and remove illegally built structures from the former owners. I feel like you use too much biase in your assumptions, you should work on that

Can't do anything though until they clean up the concrete rubble my "lovely" neighbor was dumping in the river. That's really why the errioson inspector trespassed and made an issue with shed to begin with

If it happens in future and you dont have a new pilot bit of have lost the allan key, look at videos of how you start a holesaw on a tile (i’d describe it but the video is easier) Also look at AVE for combining holesaws if you undersize your first hole cut. Much love y’all

I'm a plumber and can start large diameter hole saws in wood up to 4" with no pilot using the tile hole saw technique. Once you can do that you don't need aVe 's technique!

That’s a well drilling pipe. It’s used for driving a well pipe into the ground. The perforated pipe allows water into the pump and up the pipe it goes

Adjusting the clutch doesn’t slow anything down kids . It will prevent the bit from snapping if it grabs tho.

First thing is that the numbers around the chuck is not the speed of the drill. It's a clutch to limit the torque. Speed drill is the big black switch on top with number 1-2 and 3 on certain drills.

snapped 12 self tappers on a project of mine only to find out one of the welds i had laid was overlapping just enough to let a drill bit through but not enough to not catch and snap my screws, gotta be the angriest ive ever been building something because of how simple of a mistake it was 😂

If you run your drill on low speed your holesaws last longer. A lesson I was tought from a machinist! I use wholesaws for years not just two or three jobs! I hope this helps

Just drill the pilot hole first without the hole saw on the arbor and then put the hole saw on the arbor so you don’t have that instant off center torque on the pilot bit when the hole saw bites

Start the pilot hole with a washer on the drill bit first so it stops it from catching the teeth on the hole saw and snapping when the pilot bit penetrates

Pop off the hole saw, pilot with the bit fist then drill the large hole where the drill bit is a guide only. Many materials this is the only way you can do it.

I have done that probably 40 times over my career… it’s easy to get complacent, and the worst part is you know it’s going to happen right before it does and you can’t stop yourself 😂… same with accidentally slicing yourself or anything bad that happens on a table saw or miter saw 😂

Do you know how a clutch works? Sheering happens ffrom being over-toques while being stuck, so by making it where it cant be over-torqued it will have a much less chance of being broken

The collar he turned and though he was turning up and down the speed is for the screw/impacting function on the gun. The speed is on the top, either one or 2.

Always drill your pilot hole without the hole sawon the arbor. You will save so many pilot bits and teeth on your hole saw. And you won't bend the arbor.

Honestly the bit from construction and such like this would be that bad on the ocean. It's the straight up plastic pollution coming from Africa, China, and South America. They're why the great trash reef formed.

Always, always, always, take the hole saw OFF and drill your pilot hole. Then put your hole saw back on and drill your hole. (Especially when drilling steel). …I thought everybody knew that trick but apparently not.

What you adjusted doesn’t control the speed just so you know, that’s just a clutch for maximum torque… the speed options are that switch on the top closer to the back of the drill, pretty sure that drill has three speeds but most drills only have two🤷‍♂️

little tip, drill a hole before using your hole saw, hole saw pilot drills are prone to snapping due to the way the chuck spins with the hole saw on there

Just drill straight and you won't break bits drilling on a angle while putting pressure onit gone snap it
