Wow! I worked for a water utility 22+ years. They would often host "tapping contests" where teams would add a valve to a large pipe under pressure in the shortest time possible. Some clever engineers manages to adapt this technology for the plumber. Outstanding.

The Easyfit seals on the ends of the pipe as well as the sides unlike a saddle valves and is classified as a ball valve and has a 12 month guarantee in the US@@aquaphobicFish

@@aquaphobicFishYes true but saddle valves are extremely flawed in design and have a very high rate of failures. Most plumbers won't install them because of this fact.

Yo broski! I'm a pro woodworker and amateur plumber. I've always done my own plumbing since I've been too poor to hire a pro. Over the years I've installed 4 water heaters, replaced all the galvanized pipe in my basement in one day, several remodels, and lost track of how many times I've had to pull a toilet to get a toy that's been lodged in the bend. Sometimes I've wanted to jump off a roof mid-project, but turning the water on with no leaks at the end is so damn satisfying. Your videos are great. I love watching a master do his trade. NYC plumbers have to be the best of the best since you guys are working on all kinds of jacked up stuff going back well over a hundred years sometimes. I know it's hard work but you make it look easy. Props to all the hard working tradesmen who keep the world turning. Peace broski!

As a retired Plumber from Melbourne Australia I love watching your videos. Having only been to NYC once and experienced the traffic, it must be a real pain in the a..se when you get to a job only to find you’re short of a fitting, valve etc. That’s the only problem with plumbing, you can usually improvise to get the job done but being short one lousy fitting can ruin your day. This was amazing to see! I've been asked to fix plumbing things before change taps, fix a leak, etc, but never touched the jobs for fear of making it worse (I'm a welder, not plumber). I never even knew it was possible to do plumbing on pipes that are still fully pressurized. Very educational in more things then just plumbing (I never knew why things lined up easier when going diagonally for screws). I also like the way you gave the information, it was professional and well thought out~

This is why I love engineering. When I bought my starter home which was built 100 years ago I was concerned about the old shutoff valve which looked corroded and flimsy. I imagined a product such as this which I could put in front of the existing shutoff and not have to mess around with the old shutoff. Engineers see a problem and find a solution. Seeing how often the problem is getting supers to agree to a shutoff, this product alone will make plumbers job so much easier.

@@DinDooIt if you own a plumbing business in an expensive area, there’s no way you wouldn’t charge that at minimum lol. Total profit for this at $1500 is $386.00 after all overhead costs and taxes and paying your employee to install this. Oh and we have to legally warranty this item for 2 years cause it’s a permanent and it malfunctions? You now just lost all profits. But if you’re a small company or a solo plumber and don’t have any employees you make around $521. “It’s a 5 minute install”, let’s get real here, you take your time to investigate issue needing this device and driving there and diagnosing exactly where to install this probably took you minimum 2 hours, then you need to order this item and return which is another 1-2 hours. 3-4 hours of you or your employees time invested. I’m now thinking this should be closer to $2000.00.

He poured cement into the meter box and smoothed it level with the sidewalk. He then convinced the city that the shop meter was the only one for the whole property. when i had to rebuild a bibb faucet I couldn't stop the flow.

I have used these they aren’t too bad they cost 50 quid in the Uk which is a bit steep for a isolation valve. The problem which them is what they do to the pipe I have seen it crush the pipe or have seen a seal leak which isn’t too bad because you can tighten up the screws. Plus they only seem to come in 15mm versions. Personally I prefer a freezing kit some problem can destroy the pipe but it is more adaptable. On steel it never goes wrong from my experience. Personally I prefer an isolation and a drain down.

Now picture that valve so big you need an excavator to lower it 10 feet below grade. The Subs, contracted to do the "hot splice" did all the work, I just had to have several 4" trash pumps setup incase everything went to FFS. I think it was 14" od and 10" id poly pipe.
