The SR20DET was actually released in 1991 for the facelift "Chuki" model of the 180sx. What people have come to know as Type X, is actually the "Kouki" model and was a trim level facelift with the front bumper, tail lights, different side skirts, front lip and optional rear bumper spats. The Kouki model was released in August 1996, and officially ended in October 1997, so a very short production run. As you can see from the catalogue in the video, there is also a Type S and a Type G, but they all have the same front bumper and tail lights.
Tha looks awesome, always loved the Type-X body kit, it's one of the best looking kits for it! Also, i know you're doing an OEM resto mod, but would you consider getting a DMax style hood? The one that have the vents like the R34 Z-Tune, for me that hood completes the Type-X body kit, just a suggestion 😅
This is uber cool, Kyle! I can only imagine how frustrating it was to have this car as a huge pile of parts for so long, finally getting to see it running and taking shape must be an amazing feel. Keep it up!
@@saabkyle04 If i were i rather paint the s10 and this car before the weather gets worse and and let me know if you do decide to LED lights conversion on the exterior on this car and the s10
@@justinunger38 Aren't there enough Riced out Asian Sports cars that have been Ruined with Widebody? This 240 is what We appreciate because it's Using OEM Parts and a OEM Type X BodyKit Conversion Unless you have money to pay for the Widebody
I haven't seen this before. Looks nice! Very interesting front bumper. A shame US cars didn't get this. I see some strong Z32 (1990 - 1996 Fairlady/300ZX) influences in the front bumper.
89 to 91 they used the ca and then 91 onward it was sr20. I think 91-93 was the black top sr and then 94 onward was the red top. And then the end of the s14 and onto the s15 the notchback was used. Not sure about details on the notchback exactly though
I didn't wreck anything. It's not getting re-sold and it'll never come off the car. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Freaking out about how someone on the internet uses a car part is beyond silly, have a nice day ✌🏻
Hey anytime kyle I am a huge fan since u use to do videos at your family dealership I am a freak when it comes to restoring cars lol you do amazing video cant wait for more
Yeah man, I hate that I had to mod it, but you live and learn I guess. This car has been a massive learning experience to say the least. I'm thankful it's coming together as well as it has.
I would have re-worked the intercooler piping before hacking up those rare/expensive parts. Actually, not would have, that's what I did on my 180sx front end.
Keep in mind that the Type X "sidemarkers" aren't reflective and were only used as turn signal repeaters in Japan, as sidemarkers aren't required there.
What size light for the bumper reference lights im talking about the square ones. All I have are the lenses I need the light sockets to can you provide a link please
i purchased the wire conversion kit but when plugged into the turn signals they dont work. They light up when headlights are on but my turn signals as a whole don't work including the ones on my taillights when plugged into those cables
Can someone tell me where I can get my 240sx or 180sx BTW I'm guessing the 180sx frame of it is good to repair and the parts ??? I really want to find one and restore it look online I been looking for a cheap 1996 Toyota 4runner that's the car I'm to towing it with
Hi Kyle when is car reviews coming back. If they are coming back can you video the 2021 kia telluride or 2021 kia seltos or the 2021 hyundai palasade one day please. Or the 2021 kia sedona please.
The bumper brackets don't have anything to do with the crash/bash bar. I did not have room for the factory crash bar so I ordered a tubular bar from Street Faction and that accommodated everything. You still need the brackets to properly mount it.
I'm not surprised, I've tried everything over the past few years and whether it be reviews, projects, vlogs, etc. nothing makes a difference. Every now and then one does better than the others but it's so random that I can't figure out a pattern to stick to.
@@saabkyle04 well shoot.. i am guilty of taking a RU-vid break for a while, but it just seems like last year you got that thing!! But your channel has taken a new direction compared to the all in-depth reviews I'm used too.
Yeah man, moved on to bigger and better things. I'm trying to invest in a more rewarding/satisfying direction on youtube. Aside from fighting the algorithm, I'm really happy with my decision. Being able to work with my hands and learn new skills is something I could never do with car reviews. I felt I was getting stagnant with the reviews, just the same ole thing over and over. Plus, too many people are doing reviews now so it just doesn't seem special anymore. I'm not saying I'll never do reviews, I just uploaded the C8 Corvette, but it's less of a focus for me at the moment. Thanks for understanding and I hope you'll give the new content a watch!
So if you knew that the bumper conversion would have to be hacked up, no matter how much, why spend the resources & time to acquire OEM and new-old stock pieces, instead of replicas or even 3D-printed pieces?
