Installing Andream Apple Carplay MMI NBT in F15 X5 

Great job man. Ordered 2 weeks ago and installed today. You were right, there is very limited space behind the receiver. The only thing I did differently is used the [blue] factory antenna wire instead of the one provided with the unit. Is there a reason that you used the aftermarket antenna? Total install time was about two hours for me, most of that time spent wrestling the cables/connectors back into the dash to make way for the receiver. Works flawlessly, wife loves it! This is a no-brainer for those of us that have semi-new bimmers and want to modernize them with CarPlay.

Thanks for the vid. I also have a 2015 X5 (35i) and I think it came with an aftermarket MMI but I haven't played with it too much. I'm going to do some exploring now that I know to hold Menu to access the interface. I also live in CT and go to track days, so maybe I'll see you around sometime! I have a yellow C5 Z06. I have that TNIA point by shirt too haha.

Great video! Thank you so much! I’ve been meaning to do this for a while and this afternoon, followed your video second by second! Only question I have is: where does the AUX cable from the Andream MMI black box plug into? Or does it just float around behind the silver iDrive box?

This is the best box! Although my steering wheel controllers are still bmw adjustable. But I hold the knob on and get Siri, also gave me back up angle lines, DVR, get the wireless one comes with extra cable( usb one gives you low quality music.. wireless one saved my audison speakers 🔊) it has EQ like 40 settings,, and I wonder if I can connect a fire stick.. even heard it has and hdmi.. wow some gta5 sounds nice 👍

I think that antenna is for the Wireless Carplay, not the GPS. The GPS signal for Carplay navigation comes from the phone.

Thank you for the video! I bought and installed the same device. Easy job. Have a couple questions about the phone calls mode. When I have an incoming phone call I can’t answer neither using the buttons on the steering wheel nor using idrive knob. I can choose between the answer and decline buttons on the screen but when I push it nothing happens. Can only answer using my phone. Can’t find any settings for that. Don’t you have such issue? Another my concern is incoming calls appearing. When I’m driving using the navigator and got the call I only can see the call screen then and can’t return to the navigator until I ended that call. Do you know if there’s any way to fix it? I mean by splitting the screen between navy and phone, or getting calls on a background, etc. Thank you in advance for the answer.

2015 X5 f15 XDrive 35i is my vehicle.

What is the best location for the antenna? Your placement was very close to the metal head unit. Did you have any connection issues or interference in that location?

Did you install an aux wire to this? I've installed a similar mmi carplay kit in my f20 1 series but am upgrading to X5. With the f20 I needed to wire in the aux input as well as the mic to be tapped into with the wiring harness
