You’ll like that system. I have had excellent luck with mine. When I did the install on my 4430 I spent a lot of time pulling the pins from the plugs, shortening harnesses, and repinning the plugs. It made it a factory fit harness. I ran the roof harness up through the corner post and put my receiver out front like the new tractors. It was a pile of work and took a lot of time but it’s neat. To do it again I’d just do it like you did just for the fact I could pull the harness and equipment from the tractor.

Do you have a video? I am looking to put a Atu 200 2630 display and a 7000 globe on a 4640 tractor

Ive got Ag Leader Ontrac on my 8440 and love it. Plant with my Kinze 2600 31 row 15" and havent used markers in 5 years at least.

Is it ran on waas or do you pay a subscription?

@@iafarmer I have several globes but when i plant i use rtk although i would have no problem with a 3-5" accuracy. Im an Ag Leader dealer so i was able to get into rtk for a reasonable price. I usually only use my waas globe for steering for tillage or on the combine. Ive heard of people planting on waas but ive never met anyone that did.

This may sound little weird but if you want to improve your ATU accuracy further you can mount your antenna infront of the tractor on top of the bonnet. this will help to get faster respons in the sideway movment. i have done it on my tractor and i have no problem going in a straight line in speed up to like 20 kph with SF1 correction and ATU200

I need to upgrade my Trimble system to and hate to spend the money. It's always the first thing I think about when I hook on the planter and the last thing I want to think about when I'm done. I rebuilt my markers again for this year just in case it craps out

I’m dealing with the same thing on my 8940. How to hide the wires. But I can say I don’t have Astro Turf in my tractor. Nice touch!
@iafarmer
@iafarmer 3 года назад
Haha well that came with the tractor so i cant take credit for it. Its tough to get these older tractors into the new technology without a rats nest of wires. It doesn't make it work any better hiding the wires but sure helps if you don't have to look at them all day

@iafarmer

John deere has a "kit" that i think includes the wire harness, and the bracket on top and the display bracket. Then need a atu 300 with harness and i added the switch that goes off to the side. Then just get a used display with sf1 or sf2 and a receiver. They are getting alot more reasonable then they were for the last couple years. I would probably go with a 2600 display and a 3000 receiver

I can well imagine that you will be a bit concerned about if and how it works for you if you cannot have the globe for sometime to do a full check. Do you have to do a similar cable exercise with your other tractor but will be able to move the globe, monitor and resume switch fairly easily between each tractor? The fees from Trimble for 3 months only are grossly exorbitant especially when compared to what sounds like an upfront payment from John Deere for a year. Do you have to pay for updates from John Deere?
@iafarmer
@iafarmer 3 года назад
Yeah the dealership is going to bring one to test it out but there will be a calibration to do once the new globe arrives. I have to put the same main harness in the other tractor. The dealership does updates for free

I had issues with my 2600 not talking to my 6000 receiver. 2600 is greenstar 2 and a 6000 receiver is gen 3 and 4. My acres running the yield monitor were way off. Same thing happened planting. The 2630 is way better (gen 3). much faster processor. much faster RTK pull in times. The ATU steers much less and drives straighter too.
@iafarmer
@iafarmer 2 года назад
Interesting, ive only ever had ezsteer before this so i guess i wouldn't know any better. I know this fall i used an itc with extend on it and the 6000 is much more accurate

Its as if you've done it before! We've yet to break into the GPS market bc the prices scare me away from it. You mentioned 10k...do you mind telling me what that included?
@iafarmer
@iafarmer 3 года назад
Its one of those things that once you have it its hard to get away from. The 10k was everything, harnessing, brackets , monitor, receiver and steering unit. If you buy the kits that include all the harnessing and brackets its alot cheaper. The dealership found me the 2600 with the activation already on it so basically i only paid for the activation.
@EDBZ28
