Every aspect of that boat has been thought about for many different factors, it really is a stunning top quality boat. It must be the best canal boat on youtube
You both are Wildly Wonderful 👏👏👏🤩 Heck you even make explaining basic electrical systems educational and entertaining. Here in the States we call that, “EDUTAINMENT” 😊 Thanks, seriously, you do make what seemed like, I’ll never understand this, to, okay, I now I kinda get this now. LOVED the jellybean battery visual! Brilliant! Cha, cha, cha🕺💃
"Foxy bungs".... now there's a vision imprinted in my brain !! NB is looking great, credit to all those involved.. All the best, Take care.. Regards Steve
@@FoxesAfloat I think i'm on the other end of the scale...Sooooo exited for that one, a little mention would be nice !! Take care both of you and i look forward to the next vlog. Steve
I have just discovered you fantastic videos and have been 'binging over the past week ' You are a great couple and your sense of humour keeps me in stitches thanks and greetings from France
I’ve got roman blinds at home and as much as I like them they are a pain in the butt as they never fold correctly and can restrict light coming in when open. Great vlog. Good to see Barry still working even when injured. Lovely looking windows boys
I love seeing skilled tradesmen doing their craft by hand. I thought everything came from some kind of narrowboat Walmart where things just magically appear. The skill of these craftsmen is amazing to watch.
Jo and Michael (Minimalist) had some bungs sent to them and they were really pleased with them. I think that you need a splash of colour at the windows, some sixties flower power curtains would look FAB :)
Guys, loved this one. The detailing on the process was ace.. NB Silver Fox is just a stunner. You've really put so much time, effort and thought into it.. :D
Right, back to catching up again - Those windows are stunning from both inside and out. Stylish and elegant. Installed like car windscreens so as strong and weathertight as you’ll ever get. 👍
Knowing you two you’ve probably already ordered your window treatments! I’d definitely go for roman blinds. You need textiles for comfort and warmth, it also help with noise, you don’t want to live with echoes. You could have something really luxurious including black in the design, silk and velvet, very foxy! Thanks as always.
Ha ha! You're learning, Sylvia :) x I'd love roman blinds, but we're having metallic black ones to start with. I think Shaun is going to take some convincing :) xx
Another great vlog. It's always such great fun watching your videos, especially the outtakes. The boat is really coming along nicely. I can't wait to see that beauty out in the sunlight, so get your skates on !! LoL !!
this company that did the windows. Is a super good company. Pay very good attention to the work they do. Caldwell's Glass I vote very Professional 5 Star. Everyone watching this video should go back and watch the window making also.
I was going to say 'roller blinds', but I see in the comments that you've already made your mind up. Metal is a good idea - you can dust and clean them easily. It's all coming together, beautifully! x
😂 I can’t remember the last time I heard the word “div”. The windows look amazing. Black roman blinds would look so good. Thank you for another brilliant vlog xx
Wow that black really makes your boat stand out even more it is so beautiful. I am assuming the interior is going to be modern so in my opinion curtains would not look right. Thank you for sharing it is very interesting. I think I have a serious case of boat life envy.
I agree with the "No Curtains." campaign. I have seen in RV videos, over windows they have a two piece device where the bottom is flyscreen that you lift, and the top is solid that you lower to cover the window or put both to their starter position to have an open window. Whether you will be able to find anything to match the quality of your boat I don't know. BUT whatever you choose I know it will be fantastic as everything you have done so far IS fantastic!!!! ALL the best.
Hi! Yeah, we've chosen metallic black Venetian blinds. Love the idea of a fly screen. Can't be doing with critters! (I know I'll have to get used to them though). Thanks for a lovely comment! xxx
Lol cool, I built my modernist house 20 years ago...I used structurally bonded windows by Schuco. Nice 👍 it’s gives smooth flowing lines. My windows pushed out in one section and also where tinted with solar control. Also had electric blinds(blackout)folding into tracks. Love the boat very cool.
I tend to lean toward a more traditional look when it comes to all things nautical but I must say, those windows are dead sexy! Thanks for another great vlog. I'm still trying to catch up to the most recent but I'm enjoying them all.
Oh I was about to suggest Day Night blinds ( Search RU-vid for them ) but I see from the comments you’ve already chosen black Venetian blinds. Looking forward to seeing how they come out. Guys, so you’re launching in the spring. Do you get mixed feelings of excitement, apprehension and disbelief sometimes as the day draws nearer? Heh, 😊 I do, I can't wait to see it. Another great video, keep them coming 😎
Yeah, we've seen another boat with black blinds and the same windows, so we're happy with that choice. Shaun is very excited. I'm excited, but I know I'll be upset to leave the house when the day comes. xxx
I love your choice of windows, and I love the paint job. You two certainly have an eye for design. I hope you don’t mind if I steal some of your ideas for my own narrowboat.
Loving the windows and the tinted glass... may just steal that idea 😜 def not curtains. Everything is so sleek and strong you need something to compliment. Wide slat blinds could really work. Then you could have you’re foxy bungs. With maybe cartoon type foxes or just quirky fox in a suit (a la Rupert bear). I know I’m weird... Cheers for sharing as always. X
Thanks for posting this guys. We’re about to get a repaint and new windows and have been considering these. As for blinds, have a look at Luxaflex blinds. They aren’t cheep bit they are nice.
So do you not have any kind of screens for bug protection? Is that just part of life on a narrowboat, bugs in your living space? I am a new-ish viewer, making my way through all the old videos, enjoying them all so much, especially watching the evolution from the earliest videos. Thanks for documenting your journey so us landlubbers can live vicariously! All the very best wishes from Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Xo
The benefit of curtains is that they can soften the lines of your interior . Binds are linear and won’t provide a change in the look. Which is what you might want!
I'm wanting Roman blinds. Shaun doesn't fancy them. We're getting metallic black blinds to begin with but I'll soon have some softer roman blinds in ;-) xx
I would do grey Roman shades... slat blinds will be a pain given the rounded bottoms of the windows... I would also order and keep on hand a couple replacement window glass for when they break...
Yeah, agree with Penfold, don't use fabric curtains! They will get damp with condensation with the best will in the world not to, but also I don't think curtains work very well on smaller windows like in a narrow boat. I reckon metallised silver venetian blinds, quite narrow slats, will look smart and even though you said you weren't keen on silver, it'll set off the wood paneling in a modern way and match the theme (matt silver rather than shiny imo!) But it's your boat, and you must be happy with what you decide on! Mike & James x Ps; she's looking good! Got a launch date yet?
Beautiful window choice! If I were to build a narrowboat, I'd want those! What do you do with the panes of glass when you take them out for ventilation? I'd be concerned about chipping and breakage. Perhaps bungs with storage for their associated window pane? I like the bung idea: more privacy, no incidental light peaking in around the edges, and perhaps a bit of insulation. Additionally, they would add a very "clean" look, whether in place or not!
I like the idea of the roman blinds, I think they will look good. Though with the angle of the window whatever you hang in the frame would kind of free from the bottom unless it's connected to the bottom of the frame, which kind of defeats the whole point of the windows you got. Outside of the decorating, I think the windows really open it up. The inside had been feeling a little bit claustrophobic, and now seems a lot more open.
On a Narrowboat you have the issue of sloping down walls which will be a problem for any window covering. All blind types have many problems but remember you still have to facilitate the glass opening. I would go for bottom pinned back curtains which can slide right back. If day time storage is available why not have a Bung for every window!
Hey Tim! Yeah, the blinds have a fixed track to keep them in line with the window, and also pull up and clear to allow the window to be opened and removed. Please don't encourage Shaun with the bungs! lol! xxx
Bungs: great for no thermal transfer, great for noise blocking, great for privacy, can be covered in quotes of the day, can have secret compartments, can be colour coded, I could go on .............
On a narrowboat double glazing isn't normal. The issue is moisture in the boat, not condensation on the windows. That's just a symptom of the excess moisture. The trick is to reduce moisture as much as possible, such as not boiling things, good ventilation, extractor fans and common sense things like not drying washing inside the boat. Once you control moisture (we use a couple of detectors to tell us how moist the air is) it doesn't really matter if you have single or double glazing. As for noise, again, living on a boat you won't get much noticeable reduction using double glazing, same goes for heat. That's why hardly any boaters have it, not builders fit it. The cost doesn't represent anywhere near value for money 👍🏻
It's all looking good, love the windows.. Question: once the bonding is applied to the window, is it an instant grab or is there still time for minute adjustments, hate to think you could have a wonky window..... oh, and Roman Blinds 👍
Wow, I couldn't tell if he was putting in widows or performing brain surgery. There dedication to their trade couldn't be more obvious could it and it looks fantastic. I'd use my old underwear for curtains. Love you guys, you make me laugh.
@@FoxesAfloat Thanks, it's the only canal really near me so it's nice to know someone famous (in my view) has been there. 🙂 Oh and also the boat looks great I'm on the going back from the Lancaster link episodes right now.
Can these be fitted by yourself or do you need to get the boat to the yard? We're on the Lancaster and need them doing ASAP so was hoping to DIY them in.
I like the idea of textiles myself. But I do not have a good idea of what you find attractive or what you have already considered (other than Black which I imagine will either highlight or be complimentary to a given area).
A think a great oak shutter that spits down the middle and hinges so that there is a fold back effect. A shutter that the slats can be adjusted for privacy
I want to marry you both! Great couple, so nice to see an openly gay couple present a great show but ALSO present a vlog that's of the quality of a normal tv series. By far the best narrow boat vlog, couple, series, show going. Lovely that you go so far as to interview professionals doing their job too. . Educational and, not to throw shade of other channels, you guys have a purpose and point to your videos. Love you both
@@FoxesAfloat That was a quick reply!! Thanks!! I'm guessing that's due to cost? Also, is it perhaps not completely necessary? I saw you have BUNGS 😜 with towels!!
Hi guys, I can't find the video about solar system on Silver Fox. Could you provide me with a direct link to it? Thank you so much for all the informative and interesting vlogs. You guys putting a lot of effort to it. P.S: I loved the electrics video so informative and funny. Loved the AC Dance hhhhh
hi lads them windows look so so nice and posh. it is blinging... I think roman blinds would look far much better and softer looking and more warmly then a silver Venetian blind. even if they where in a different colour I think they would look colder.(venetian blinds that is}. keep up the good work lads loving it. x
Boys the windows look great. I know ya all said ya don't like curtains, but for what's it worth that would be my choice. But silver fox is looking good
@@FoxesAfloat Rocking Cool! I went to the website ( caldwellswindows.co.uk/ ). Not only do they help solve a problem with condensation but the website is easy to use and informative. Note: Has pictures of you folks and your narrowboat project as well. Perfect for reference.
Whatever kind of blinds you decide on they will be Roman, along with the rest of the boat when you start roman the canal network! (Spelling was never my best quality!)
