Do you charge the homeowner for these “extras” or do you count on the wow factor bringing in other high dollar clients to pay for the detail changes such as this one?

I love all the designs. I just started doing decks last year and your videos give me all kinds of ideas. I immediately bought a Makita track saw. I’m trying to build the waterfall bar with the drink trough right now. The pergolas are on point. The privacy walls are poppin. The inlays and the herringbone patterns are super cool. Fun stuff. Thanks brother

Great looking deck and patio. It gives me some ideas. However the wearing of sunglasses on a cloudy rainy day, we’ll just call you Hollywood.

About to start my deck and I'm absolutley torn between the gray "Tundra" and "Sierra" combo in this video or the brown "Costa" and "Kayah" colors from your other builds! My siding is exact color of blue in this video and deck will butt up against a pool. I know conventional wisdom says greys and blues go together, but that Costa and Kayah combo is 🔥!

Thanks man! I kind of fell into doing both and later realized not many people were doing both so it’s a nice little niche to get into!

Premier Outdoor Living it is. Outdoor projects as an extension of the house is one thing but making them an actual room is completely different! Cool stuff! Stay safe out there! I was on the field for over 10 years so I understand how being right on top of each other can be scary right now.

GREAT WORK!!! I love the videos and you have so many tips I want to incorporate into our personal deck. Are you able to use the hidden fasteners on a diagonal pattern with a postage outline? Also, I only saw you add screws to the end - Are screws in all the joists? Do you place caps on the screw heads?
@darrellkidd5177
@darrellkidd5177 4 года назад
Very nice work; it's obvious you take pride in what you do. I'm thinking about using a herringbone pattern on my deck; how many joists did you use in the section where the two diagonal boards meet, or did you use smaller 2x's to supplement that section of joists?
@THEpremieroutdoor
@THEpremieroutdoor 4 года назад
We just installed two joists close to each other and then put in a piece of flat blocking in between them

An instruction video on the zip system flashing tape?

Excellent design. Glad I came across it and might utilize into my current install. Two questions on the track saw piece when cutting the angled decking to be square: when running parallel to the joists, do you cut flush against the nearest? And then when you’re cutting perpendicular to the joists, does the track saw just cut through part of the joists or did you guys try to adjust the height of the cut? Thanks for the insight.
@11soWoo
@11soWoo 4 года назад
I think i can answer those 2 questions. It seems from the video that the boards are already fastened so its not flushed, as unfastened and un-spaced boards will likely shift as you’re cutting that long distance. Generally, you don’t want to cut through the joist, set your saw to about 1/16 less than the board’s height and go back and hammer-chisel it off. You can see the guy going back with a hammer to finish after the cut. Place a metal putty knife underneath to not chisel out part of the joist. Hopefully that answers your questions.

With most composite, I've read recommendations/requirements to run joists at 12OC if laying decking on the diagonal. How solid is that decking at 16OC (what it looks like that frame was)?
@THEpremieroutdoor
@THEpremieroutdoor 4 года назад
It was actually really solid, I felt comfortable with it after we changed the design to diagonal with the spacing because it is deckorators eovations composite which is by far the strongest on the market

@@THEpremieroutdoor so unsurprisingly, I have been getting deck ads popping up, including dekorators. Their ad touting strength is clearly rigged as just before the actor hits the board with a sledge, there is a break in the footage and then you can see the right board is visibly cut already. I don't know if they sponsor you, but I'd be careful about recommending a company that does stuff like that

Question ! the joists don't need to be separated 12” because you decking is on 45 degrees

Is the cocktail rail the same as the facia board you have round the sides? I am constructing a new deck soon, with post and glass balustrade, and like the idea of a cocktail rail.

did u raise the decking boards up some so the saw blade didnt cut into the zip tape like put a shim under it.
