CW filters are always a wise investment! You did just fine. I have a TS-450 and previously a TS-440 and in both I have the 500hz CW filter. Never tried the 270hz. If you ever mess around with CW contesting (like CQ WW DX- ARRL DX etc)., those filters will make all the difference in the world. Enjoy your 850 and 73!
Agreed. Thanks. It turned out a fellow I sold this to (with filters and all) sent it back, complaining about the tuner quitting. It worked for me but was making an awful racket. He had other complaints so I refunded the ham's money. At least I have those nice KNWD CW filters. I work 100% cw, but mostly rag chews and sprints. 73!!!
Thank you so much. I actually have passed this project to another ham friend who has traditionally been a bigger KNWD fan than myself, though I really enjoy my TS-520, at least when I'm in the mood to play the Vibroplex bugs around on the air. I always felt like the high voltage involved in grid block keying pretty much self cleaned oxidation off of the contacts of vintage bugs, and the ts-520 then has those nicely weighted punchy sounding dits.
@@ki4dbk thanks enjoyed your video. recently got a used 850SAT and the tuner is taking 90 seconds trying to find a match. I eventually just stop the tuning process. i'm not sure what's going on. also wondering how much difference the narrow CW filters make in addition to the 500 Hz ones. currently only have the 8.83 500 Hz CW filter installed.
I donated it to another ham and he sold it. I do have the 3 cw filters available for trade or sale. They may end up at my table at the next hamfest "boneyard"
