Thanks man! Great vibes. So are you happy with the performance? I want those happy sounds as well. Better boost, hp or mileage? Thanks again. I’m subscribing! 🔔
I am really happy with the performance of the car. The boost noises now are crazy and I have felt an increase in speed as well! Surprisingly, mileage stayed practically the same. Finally, thanks for the sun I appreciate it!
I’m going to do this after I replace my rear brakes. Safety first right? Question: The zip tie is to keep the cone upright? It doesn’t lay flat in the air box I guess. Thanks again brother!
Most things I bought in store so I don’t have a link for them. The blue intake tube I got it from amazon, the black hose and air filter where from autozone.
I'm no rocket surgeon, but isn't the air from inside the engine compartment hot? Which is the opposite of cold if I'm correct. I would think with less oxygen it would slow your car down.? But hey, that pretty blue part must be worth 20 horsepower. And it's louder, so it must be faster, right?
I never ran the car on a dyno, Im going mostly on how the car felt and both response and acceleration got better after the install. I based what I did on multiple aftermarket kits which cost a lot more than this “DIY kit” which leave the air filter in the same location. Still if you want to keep temps a little cooler you could buy an universal air filter heat shield for an extra 20 bucks.
I know the location in the engine might not be optimal, but if you look at the aftermarket options there is not much change in location. That’s why I left the oem lower part of the airbox that brings cold air from the outside, like most of the aftermarket manufacturers do. If you want to get colder air you would have to completely relocate your coolant reservoir to do a short ram intake. I just bring a budget option for people who want to do the cold air intake mod.
@bluecoopermotors I get that you ain't the one who started the misrepresentation.. But if Red Bull can be sued for not actually giving you wings, these people should be sued for their hot air induction kits.
I think the term “cold air intake” is mostly the name of the product, so it gets generalized for every car, sometimes without considering that it might not change or worsen the temp of the air going in the engine. Most manufacturers have the fine print that they not ensure lower air temps or just never mention that it might cool temps, they focus rather that it improves response and acceleration because of how much more air is going into the engine.
