I thought I was the only redcat enthusiast. I own a redcat landslide and love it! You actually inspired me to look into the shredder. Maybe even one of those 💪🏾🤘🏾
Have had my lightning for almost 4 years, so many upgrades I could build 2 more lol. Most versatile and really easily upgradeable. Although if I were to go back I'd have gone 4s instead of 3s
Perfect time to upload this video! I’m thinking about buying one of these from my local hobby shop by my work, our other one just closed so I’m hyped to finally get another car project started! Thanks my man!
I LIKE this build man!! I own 2 Redcats and they hold up to our Bashing driving shenanigans that me & my daughter do 😆😆😆 . I need to pickup a road car next. This Hobby is addicting!!! Let's see a running vid next!!! Stay safe and bash on from Colorado!!!
So much face. I'll give you a week to grow the beard back. You know the beard adds 5 mph to whatever car your running. I haven't had a bald chin in 10+ years. Last time I did, I started getting ID'd when buying beer. Never again! 😂
First off everybody you see this posting this is why myself ♥️ this channel you see he goes through and shows and tells you what hes doing and what to maybe expect such an all around great RC channel because you learn something and he takes the time to show you and not everyone knows all about RC's and I was and an one of them dont know it all So thank you for being a great RC channel keep it up and yes a different look gets the razor slipped happens to us all one time or another... 👍👍👍🤛😎✌👋
Hah just built on exactly like that but chrome on a blue chasis... every aluminum part available, hsp brontosaurus diff housing front and rear with the rear raised 1/4" and a 1 way front and locked rear with a 3300kv 60amp 2s esc. Have drifted em for years (currently own 3) and honestly it was just too heavy.. the down force on the tires was insane, it didnt wanna go under 10mph in a slide haha so it now has a shaved narrowed chassis, longer travel suspension setup with rear towers front and rear, and 70mm coilovers with tender springs in the rear and 60mm front coils, gonna build a semi cantilever for the front and run dual shock absorbers in the rear.. these cars are awesome to work with.. im also currently building a fwd drag car off this chassis hah the front slicks on 4 lugs will look ill under a civic or golf. Good content brother! No beard looks tuff man
New to this rc car world and am trying to mount a 71 trans am body to my car and the forward post you have used on this build would solve my mounting issue I’ve looked everywhere but can’t find this set up, please tell me where you got them or how you did them
Awesome video I've got one of these as well I did a Toyota Corolla body and some pop up headlights on it and underglow headlights taillights I think it's time to oder some of those upgrades for mine. 🤘✌️
So I finally found my lightning epx and threw it together with some electronics and I really need to know what the diff upgrade was and a motor mount that’ll fit a castle creations motor? I really want to make it into a speedy street car and I will be using this video to look for upgrades to do to mine, I really like making Frankenstein rc cars and I have quite a few, so any info or link or suggestions would be great!
Badass guys seriously.. I just bought this car and I wanna do all these up grades.. great video also.. any info you can send me on parts would be awesome
Your comment about sourcing parts is so spot on. I have only been in the hobby for 2 years now and I have more money in parts that are sitting in boxes than I have in my cars. I have 2 Exceed Sunfires that are basically the same as a Redcat Tornado. I believe the spur is the same as the Redcat Lightning. The manual describes it as a Mod 0.6 and I would love to go to a Mod. 0.8 but have not found anything that fits. I think my sunfires came with brass pinions and they just turn to butter with motor upgrades. Any suggestions ? Thanks again for sharing your awesome build.
I ordered all the same parts from Amazon. Had to send the parts back 4 times as the kits where incomplete. They recommended I stripped all the parts of the 4 kits to make 1 working kit. The baseboard had misaligned holes, and the wrong bore. Needless to say I wasted $120 upgrading everything to get a car that has binded driveshafts and binded up steering because the poor quality of these parts. Bought a new lightning EPX just to have a working car again. However this video was a great walk through!
I just put buggy tires from Amazon on my cat..n dam let me say off road yard eater..mess up my good grass lol but yea it’s sick..what body would you recommend?
So I got the match buggy. I got tires carbon kit, and springs. And ti turnbuckles. It actually feels really good at my track. So I had fun on a track for just over 200 bucks.
Damn man your channel is slowly starting to become my favorite I'm literally thinking about buying a redcat shredder because of your videos of it just kinda iffy worried about durability but love the channel keep up the good work
Did the same to my volcano epx pro, it TAKES FOREVER, I thought it was just me lol, it's the exact opposite in color of your rig purple chassis then blue chassis support, ya hit that nail, by saying literally every inch has been gone over!
There's a few different kinds. There might even be a set for your vehicle specifically. Just type in Magnetic RC body mounts on Amazon or eBay. You'll find a bunch.
I really think you usually where the bandaid 🩹 on the other hand , but don’t hold me to that, I’m a little color blind..Hey, when did your partner shave his head?😂😝👍🏻👊🏼 nice upgrade video mendkids!😜😎
The aluminum arms are one item I would pass on. The plastic is made to bend on impact and go back in place and break when hit hard enough. The aluminum will bend and stay bent, which will through off suspension geometry. Wonder why the car won't go straight or keeps listing to one side? Those aluminum arms may be the problem
Awesome video I'm looking at getting this for my technicalities second but first drift car if that makes since lol! Got another sub great content here. Does like any standard 200mm body for this redcat platform
isn't this the same model as HSP 94123 ? since that has a "pro" version that is brushless out the box . Those things are like the Wltoys of drifting , there are plenty of parts and upgrades .
I really thought about getting this car but I work at a hobby shop and for us to get any parts for redcat It's a minimal of $1,000 order. That's crazy. I had five people in the shop today trying to get redcat parts lol
I'd like to see a full comparison of the upgraded one vs. the stock one (weight, price, speed, handling etc.). Seems that for the money you might be able to buy a better car(thought I saw a quick shot of close to $300 for the upgrades then add in the original purchase cost). I'm not bashing on Redcats I've got one and it's an OK car, just don't know if they are worth pumping the money into.
Well it's definitely going to be faster with that brushless system in it. I drove it around on the.floor a bit and it feels heavier. The front wheels push a bit, but I'm curious to see how it handles on the road.
I had bought the redcat sc pro and bashed it like an arrma for 3 years only thing that went wrong consistently was the spur gear. Sadly my slash did not hold up as well as far as shock towers a arms and driveshafts. Although the slash was more controllable the red cat took more of a beating maybe I bought the unicorn but that is the only redcat I have ever owed besides buying an Everest 10 just for the frame for my mud truck 😂
Probably not. It’s pretty easy. Just pull the hinge pins, remove the a-arms and shock towers, unscrew the diff from the bottom of the chassis, and split the diff case.
Oh and Also... Would be Nice to see someone Build By Hand, their Own Parts using a Hacksaw File and Drill, like I did for one of my R/C's.. Chassis, A-Arms, Braces, Supports Pretty Much anything Flat from Sheet Aluminum. No Cheating using a Dremel, Scroll Saw, Drill Press.. Only Hand Tools.
@@10thScaleGarage I didn't have the skill either. Patience.... Something to do in the off time. I did it between customers. Did they turn out Perfect, No... Did the parts I made work.. Yeah.. Am I proud of them.. yeah..
~$200 for all the aluminum. $80 for the body. ~$80 for motor, ESC and servo. $80 for the body. The car itself was $149. It's an expensive redcat! Haha.
