If you're a fussy person like myself and don't want to clutter the PATH variables (already have 20+ paths), just testing Hugo out or don't want to wait for restarting PC just type in CMD: *_SET PATH=%PATH%;C\:Hugo\bin_* obviously replacing "C:\Hugo\bin" with wherever you downloaded Hugo to (without the quotes). SET PATH has to be done every time you startup Hugo this way, as it doesn't save it to the system. Then use "cd" to navigate to your projects directory.

I have installed hugo and also created a new website, however when I install a hugo theme, I get an error message that my config file cannot be found. I have tried to find my way around this but couldn't/ Kindly assist.
I'm encountering an issue tho. While I have added Hugo/bin in the path and can verify it in cmd with the echo %PATH% still when I do the Hugo version it does not recognize it. Any idea how to troubleshoot?
Hey Robin, sometimes the Path variable can be weird, I would recommend either restarting the command prompt or even the computer just to reset everything, sometimes rebooting will link everything up
If HUGO was a serious web developer tool... you wouldn't need to use Command Prompt! You should've natively use windows visually. For example instead of typing all this lines and watch for any typing mistakes in the pre-historic "Windows Command Prompt" - all that should be done is hitting F5.. or something like that. Then it may become popular. But when I see that you have to use Command Prompts, I just feel like going back to the stone ages of the times when DOS was a mainstream...
I know how to use it, but if you want to compete with Wordpress this needs to be a lot friendlier for non- or somewhat amateur developers. Who is going to type the full files path addresses in the Command line, watching for the correct file spelling?? I don't see any value in this framework for both: serious developers and also just regular bloggers, who want to spend time to create content... not typing file paths... As far as speed, Wordpress is very fast, especially if you use PHP 7.2 and up on your hosting. I was just trying to understand: what kind of user will benefit from Hugo?
