This is virtually the best mod I've done on the BMW 1 Series! The IDrive system has now transformed the car completely! I'm no mechanic just a regular guy, who's learning as he goes there was so many hurdles that I had to go through cutting into the dashboard and this is how I installed the 10.25 inch Android Carplay touchscreen headunit :D
I also show how to remove the dashboard trim, centre air vent, climate control and radio.

Looks BADASS man, I'm tempted to do the same but I have an issue with my BC (Board Computer) whereby it cycles itself while I'm driving 😭 it even changes the time and settings of the car. Anyone else with the same issue or know what I can do? Also, please do an update when you have all the other little things installed i.e. Rear Camera, GPS, MIC e.t.c Keep up the great content 👍

I tried that battery reset for 10 seconds and it worked for half a day. I just want to ask if you recommend a good garage or specialist that will look at my electrics. Thanks

Daniel Kainth There’s most likely a loose terminal cable or damaged wire within your dash by the sounds of it best thing to do is google search bmw specialist in your area they should help you sort it

Try getting a RHD trim for the CIC Idrive controller, and maybe you could remove the controller from the trim it’s in, and adapt to fit genuine trim.

After watching this great video a few times, I convinced myself and tomorrow I'm upgrading my CCC monitor display on my E81, to this Android Headunit... Big question In my case, I have the CCC Professional Nav, so I have them OEM GPS antenna. Do I need to install the new GPS antenna and microphone ??? Don´t go anywhere !

Bakar Ranian yeah man was so tired literally started work at 9 finished at 6pm then went straight in to do the install till midnight plus the weather didn’t help when it was raining heavily after went straight home skipped dinner and edited the video up till 3am I had to stay Onit till the end so I could get this video out asap 🤙🏾

I meant that when you disconnect the cables, you temporarily lose those features, but when you put it all back together you have all the features back and more 👍🏾💯

@@CARLISONIT I mean, in order to listen anything that comes from the screen, the original radio should be set on AUX source, shouldn’t be? Thus, there should be a cable from behind the stereo to the AUX port which is placed below the armrest. Am I wrong? Thank you very much!

@@eduv1537 Ok I understand you, no it will work normally all you would need to do is set it to aux and play your music as normal from the headunit, also if you wanted use the aux port to connect to your phone for music that works normally too. 👍🏾💯

Hi Carl I have this android 13 car stereo I got it of the like you provided have you ever used the sim card slot iv tried a sim and nothing is happening also it don't look like it's going in all the way does it click in or just slide in. I've ordered a smarty sim to try but I'm not sure if the sim card slot does not work . Please help . Thanks

Hi Luke, My version didn’t have 4g at the time maybe try a different sim card with another sim provider, if that works then it’ll definitely be the network you’re currently with let me know how it goes 👍🏾

Bro how did you keep the plastic trim in place? Obviously the stereo sits in the plastic trim but the actual trim piece that sits over the hole you made. How do you keep that in place? I’ve cut my dash but there is nothing to secure it to. Unless I use some sort of adhesive. Don’t go anywhere!!

Nice one ! If you dnt mind me asking, what optimal extras did you get when ordering? I curious because I saw android auto is an extra ... so it wouldn't work without having that too ...? (Btw I didn't go anywhere) 😂😂

B B I got idrive controller (only works on LHD models) and reverse camera Also i’m not sure i’m going to try it out 😂 Don’t go anywhere!

Android auto is like apple carplay. Just google it mate. You can perfectly use it without 🤩🤩

Hey Carl, great video. I am looking into cutting my own dash as well, however, instead of mounting the aftermarket display, I want to retrofit the factory Navigation system onto my BMW. Could you please let me know whether there is any place for the factory unit to screw onto a non Nav dashboard? Like, is it the same under the dash for both Nav and non-Nav models? It’s not readily apparent from the video, so would greatly appreciate it if you could confirm before I go and ruin anything on the car haha. Thanks in advance!

Tomasz P. Hi, King J is right. Our system come with a built in mic. If you want better sound quality from the mic, you could connect an external one. It is located on the side of our unit!
