I bought everything. I'm going to do it in the spring because I don't want to break any plastic clips because of the cold, but I'm really looking forward to it
Chris haha your not wrong about that. I have bought many amazon LEDs over the course of three vehicles and only has issues with the longer bars. The key is getting the $40-$60 ones not the $20-$30 brands.
I like this:) I wondered how I may install some flood lights on my Ram. You ever figured out a switch for that center dash location next to the other two switches (traction control and tow/haul)?
Thanks for a great informational video. I'm gonna try this on my 2019 classic. When I do a new led headlights job this spring. But I notice the cheap wiring harness that it suggests, has a push button red light switch. Did you add that switch you have on your your dash by splicing it in ? If so where did you get that. Thanks again Bill
Thanks glad it helped! Yes I usually always buy one of those harnesses then I cut the switch off that it comes with. There will be three wires (red, black & yellow or white). I usually get a round three prong switch that pops into a 3/4" hole drilled in the trim plastic around your steering wheel. double check what is behind where you want to drill so there is enough room for the wiring that goes into the back of the switch. you will want to get Female Slip-On Solderless Terminal connectors that you crimp to the harnesses wires. each of these will slide onto one of the pins of the switch. The yellow or sometimes white wire is what activates the light on the switch . It is usually the center pin. I just added a link to the switch in the description of this video. Good luck!
Awesome dude! one question for you: I have the chrome grill that looks more like a cheese grater. Do you think the lights will shine through my grille like they do yours?
I don’t think it would be an issue at all, I would just play around with the location left to right where you mount it. I wish I spread my light further to each side bc they are a little covered by the vertical post of the grill in the center. Not at all noticeable though because lights are so bright.
Pretty good install video. However you said at one point about led "fog" lights, I'm just hoping you don't use those on the road that would be blinding
Great question, if you used those smaller LED cubes I would say absolutely. not sure about the round ones I used, it would be close.... I just rewatched my vid and at minute 4:19 you can see It doesn't looks possible to fit all 4 round lights. I was thinking about getting two of the cubes to put in on the out sides of the round ones. might make a video of this soon so thanks for the idea.
That large plate with the two big 15 mm bolts next to that little rubber hole thingy you mentioned, comes out. Drill a hole in that and you can run loads of wiring through it. That Giant firewall hole that's covered is for a clutch assembly if its a manual.
You are correct. The relay has a low voltage wire (Terminal 86, Google a relay wire diagram) that when energized will power the relay and let the higher voltage wire power the light. I have a switch in my truck that I have a wire run from battery to the switch and then another from the switch to the replay low voltage wire. The switch interrupts the source to the relay so you can control the on/off. You could also wire the low voltage source to any other electrical source like the high beams positive wire, fog lights or what ever you would want to control the on/off.
Mandofive4321 I have had these hooked up for almost a year now and my truck has sat for two weeks with out being started at one point and has been fine.
I haven't looked closely at that grill style. It might block out much of the light if you use the round ones I used. Maybe an LED cube or a short LED bar light would be better.
Prince Jabbo the hemi engines are very reliable you could get a solid 250-300k if it’s well maintained, usually it’s body rot that makes them un-passable for inspection
In theory yes, but the draw of these little leds is too minor to truly make an impact. Even so no battery is 100% efficient and will die over time anyways.
