The lean tos off our conex shipping container finally come together despite the recent rainy weather. We install the metal roofing, enclose the structures with live edge siding milled from our sawmill and take a step back to take it all in. A place to store vehicles, trailers and other equipment will surely come in handy living in Alaska's harsh climate.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

had never thought of you initials... and when i saw them on that piece of wood, it gave me such joy... you see, my husband name was Eduardo, and mine is Anci. He passed away 2 months ago, and today i was feeling sad and down... and then... BOOOMMMM!!! This comes, as a reminder to me that when you have been loved and you have loved as we both did each other, then, you are never ever alone, that love is always there inside, nurturing, calming and making one able to overcome any pain and give every day light and love!!! Thank you again you two lovely ones, you give me happiness every time, but this one, well, this one was really special!!!

Ive been watching your channel for quite awhile. Maybe 2 yrs. I have haf pancreas cancer for 3 yrs. I was diagnosed just a few months ago. Its been a long road. Now that im in stage 4 and no longer working I have way more time on my hands. Your channel gives me a huge amount of inspiration. The way you both work together so well. Your gardening, cooking home grown foods, your fishing, and extra properties. I lived in alaska 2 times. 2yrs 3ach time. My family is in Oregon. So Im here now. I waited to watch the shed video because I didnt feel it as much as your others. Boy! Was I wrong about that. To see how much natural materials are from your land is so inspiring. I also am reminded how amazing Alaska is. Thank you for sharing your lifestyle with me. God bless.

You should keep a few panels of clear corrugated plexiglass on hand so when you build something like this right in the center over your main work area, you could put the clear plastic roofing and have light coming in. I know winter time is the problem because the snow on the roof, but the rest of the year when you can remove the snow or have no snow on that roof. You have plenty of light inside the shelter. Would love to see people doing that. Thanks for sharing again as you did an excellent job when you built this shelter.

you must brace this structure for the wind and snow or it will collapse. Wood or cable diagonally cross bracing. AndI would double the number of metal straps holding the joists. A good wind will rip the roof off. But nice job. Lots of work so lets keep it working for you for many years.

Nice job! I enjoyed watching this build. I am doing something similar. Years ago I built a 20’ X 40’ shed for far equipment and a work area. I quickly discovered that it wasn’t enough space so I built a 12’ lean-to on one side. Now I need more room so I bought some 26’ long box trusses form a construction project that ordered incorrectly and I was just going to put in a post barn type of frame to hold them up so I could add a 24’ X 40 ‘ covered parking areas for all of my equipment. Then the bright idea came into my hard head and I bought two 40’ Conex containers for more durable storage. So I placed them 24’ away from the shed. Now I have to put the trusses from the shed to the Conex’s and then I will have a real monstrosity of a storage/workshop that will be 80’ X 40’ structure. That should hold me for many years if not forever. Again I really like what you have built because it has real charm and the wood you have used is very nice looking.

I hope the snow falling off of the long side doesn't tear down the fence. Can't tell how much space is between shed and fence. Love the live edge boards.

Love watching Sawyers. My moms dad was one her whole life. 1920s til about 1990s. They all helped cut and everything. We would sneak over to mill and jump 8n sawdust. Grandpa would yell stop that. There is sharp pieces in there. Loved tha T 5 ft 2 in man.

After watching this RU-vid videos of all simple living Alaska it truly bring new meaning when I think of Eric and Arielle from the little mermaid and if you look for your name on my browser your site comes before Disney’s little mermaid 😊. Just thought I’d share that with you. I’m sure I’m not the first one that’s said that. Great job on lean to , love your cat 🐈‍⬛ pepper! What a great name and some beautiful pictures of him. Of course love Beau and bandit too . And that is one beautiful rooster. Love all your animals and thank you for sharing your home with us. 💕😊

You're right "Wilson" . Looks great Guys 👍. If you want to totally enclose a shed, cut shiplap sliding. You square your log and shim up every odd cut. Beautiful job. Sawmill is almost paid off. Nice mill from Ontario, Canada.

When you attached those hurricane clips to the rafters I swooned. You keep making such good choices. I am so proud. Well done!🤗
@Angela_Alaimo
@Angela_Alaimo 2 года назад
@@donaldmiller8629 I only know them as hurricane clips. I know Alaska doesn't have to worry about that particular weather event but high winds are high winds. And I've got no idea what they call them in Alaska but we have them on our rafters 🙂 PS: we have enjoyed cooler weather after the Ida weather went thru and I'm loving being able to wear my long sleeve shirts again, too, AC off, windows open. Yay

@@donaldmiller8629 Every state has their own building codes. I believe after hurricane Andrew Florida began requiring them. I don't expect many other states do and if a developer can pinch a penny, he's going to do it, while he hates a nickel because it's not a dime. Oftentimes, if the roof stays on, the house doesn't fall to pieces. Then you have storm surge but that's another problem. I personally love winter. I got an awesome new snow shovel last year and showed it off to the neighbors 🙂
