Installing more AMAZON PRIME Jeep Parts. JL Rear Bumper... Does it suck? 

i want to note for anyone interested in this bumper that i just got this bumper delivered for my JLU today and it looks like a quality party (have not installed) i like that it came with the pod lights and that they are easy to change out and i was pleasantly surprised that it came with D-Rings for the bumper. i do however have to note that my trailer hitch was not welded to the bumper at all. the bumper has a notch for the hitch and you have to bolt the hitch on separately. in my opinion this is much weaker than the factory hitch setup since the factory has a c-channel that wraps around the bumper allowing most of the strength to be carried by the frame, while this aftermarket hitch sandwiches the frame between the hitch plate and a backing plate, leaving most of your strength to come from the bolts used. this bumper does not seem to stick out farther than the stock plastic bumper does, so i will try installing the bumper with my factory hitch receiver in place (the receiver included with this bumper is about 4-6" longer than the stock one). if the hitch was still welded to the bumper i would say it would be a much stronger than stock since the weight of towing would not only go to the location the hitch is bolted to on the frame, but also be spread out through the bumper itself and to the points that the bumper is attached to on the frame.

Best option in my opinion is the teraflex license plate relocation kit . Install is a little bit involved but relatively easy and worth it . Puts 3rd brake light , camera , and license plate light along with the plate itself all in the same area nice and neat looks oem
