Upgrading my powerwall with the use of a shunt trip. Basically it'll just be turned off by the Batrium Watchmon for a number of different faults. ie - If it gets too cold to safely operate the batteries I'll shut down, same for if it gets too hot. Under or over charge of individual packs all fully programmable.

The pcb terminals are very small on the batrium board so what they do in industry is wire all the pcb terminals out to a terminal rail and your field wiring connects to the terminal rail, that means there is less chance of damaging the batrium card and you can easily connect and disconnect but keep up the great work it looks amazing 👍

Yeah I have had it running on another screen your site. Currently 17.71 kWh SoC% 66.5 as of now 10pm South Australia time

+TheBlokeSolar&Wind soc is set too 1000 ah so it doesn't auto reset and I know what to set it too so that is inaccurate but everything else is :) refresh page as we have been tinkering with the desktop version a bit don't know if it auto refreshes.

101% charge...I wonder if Thunderf00t will find this video :D
@TheSiprianus
@TheSiprianus 4 года назад
a quick google research will actually give you simple answer without needing it to be 'debunked'. 101% or more charge can be done if the battery manufacturer rating is lower than it's actual rating or if the battery is charged to a higher voltage value than the maximum voltage when the manufacturer measure the battery capacity.

Hey m8. your the first guy I've seen use a boot lace tool. I've always used my channel lock pliers and crimped them with the tip. something I also do in areas that see a bit if strain from lots of manipulation, try adding a bit of rosin core solder to the tip of the boot lace. it should draw in nice with those high power solder rigs you have been using. the boot lacing I use usually sees service in flex tracks, but in a project that is ever changing like yours. they should work just as well. great vids, cheers.

crimping and soldering together is not recommended
@jasonhamilton5756
@jasonhamilton5756 7 лет назад
It helps keep the termination from slipping off. Boot laces are mostly to keep your wires from fraying on insertion and keep things looking nice. Properly crimped they usually don't slip out, but if you dig through your wiring alot or if your application is motive a dab of solder in the tip of your lace termination will save you the torment of wire pullout and short circuits during cable tracing and manipulation while in service. An ounce of prevention friend.
@ursodermatt8809
@ursodermatt8809 7 лет назад
and i take it you are not using proper boot lace ferrule pliers? and probably using the wrong size ferrule? there were many discussions on youtube before about similar soldering/ crimping matters. i can only repeat, crimping AND soldering is not recommended. there are several reasons for that. for one thing lead is very soft and creeping . so you crimp the ferrule and the led creeps and you have a lose connection. i recommend you look into it, like on googles and youtube.
@jasonhamilton5756
@jasonhamilton5756 7 лет назад
I'm just sharing my experience friend. there's hardly any lead in solder these days to trifle about. your not really getting what I'm saying so, good luck to you.

Why don't you put the heatshrink on the bootie connectors? That would strengthen where the wires come out of them. Would only need a short piece.
@HBPowerwall

About 400 bucks from memory, i can get my sparkie to get a current price.

I've tested it with every possible wy i know how. Heat, cold, Over voltage, Under voltage etc hasn't not worked.
@HBPowerwall

pretty much anything that'll work and is cheap, the one between each bank (haven't done it yet still ) will just make it a little better to maintain it

I've seen on RU-vid that by reducing charge voltage by only 0.1v you can extend life of cells. might be worth investigating. Nothing to loose...:-/
@HBPowerwall
@HBPowerwall 7 лет назад
For the forty test I've cranked it up after that MIGHT do one more load test then back to 4v per cell. Make my babies last as long as possible

on your PIP4048HS you have connected 4S panels each one has 45.1VOC for a total of 180V but you PIP4048HS only accept 125V, I am not sure if I am right or a I am doing something wrong
@HBPowerwall
@HBPowerwall 6 лет назад
pip has 8 panels 2p4s total voltage is only like 60v or somewhere close to that.

Those little DIN rail disconnectors, you mentioned a rating of 125A (DC), do they stand any chance under a serious fault condition?
@HBPowerwall
@HBPowerwall 7 лет назад
By full fault do you mean a train hitting it? I think they are adequate taking into account the amount other protections that have put into place inc 4480 individual cell fuses
@edcooper2396
@edcooper2396 7 лет назад
I guess thats the point under a really serious fault your cell/pack fuses would take over. Was just curious as I know arresting a DC arc is a real challenge (I've worked in high energy DC rail in the past) I understand on some of the newer Tesla packs they have implemented an explosive disconnect system which is quite a clever solution to the problem - all be it a non resettable one! Keep up the good work.
@HBPowerwall
@HBPowerwall 7 лет назад
I have dead shorted a 7S charged pack before (a few videos back in fact) and all it did was scare the shit out of me & blow every cell fuse on the 7th pack. 20min to replace all the fuses and i was back running again.
