@jakeguitartech nice video man pretty much the sound I’m looking for out of my ultra tele. Quick question though what value pots/caps were in this guitar? Pretty sure I have 250k in mine at the moment but just wanted to see if a 500k was needed for the lil 59. Thanks for the video!
Very cool demo. Another big fan of the Little ‘59 here. One of my favorite pickups ever. It does take a bit of the “Tele-ness” away. Not nearly as twangy as a single coil pup, but it gives a nice boost in horsepower to a Tele. Great playing, by the way. Very nice showcase of your luthier skills, the new pickup and your chops. Got you on my sub list. Cheers 🍻
thats a great way to put it, im looking for a pickup to go in my build im planning and i need something that can play the folky bluegrass stuff i love while being able to play heavier rock and metal!
How is it compared to JB Jr? Tbh I didn't find much difference in the video compared to when I listen to JB Jr demos but I'm worried that in clean position, the JB Jr takes the tele-ness away.
Great playing! I've had my Telecaster fitted with a Little '59 in the bridge and I play it all the time, because it does something I never experienced with any other guitar. When I play the Little '59 I get this beautiful rock sound, but when I switch to the original neck pickup, it sounds as clean as you would want it to have and you don't perceive any change in volume. And the sound is exactly right. This means I don't even have to switch pedals, channels, or volume to go from heavy rock to sparkling clean. I never understood why a lot of guitarists don't take the Little '59 seriously. It's amazing. I have to say though, for my overdrive sounds I always use the bridge pickup and for clean sounds I always go to the neck pickup. Almost always. With almost every guitar I have. By the way, on my Tele in the middle position the Little '59 is a single coil and there's a treble bleed in there. Nice work! Did I hear you say that this guitar is a Custom Shop Telecaster that'll be used as a back up for his Jason Isbell signature model? 😳
I like that riff because it kinda sounds like the punk stuff I play and listen to, I had a Little 59' on a G&L Asat and it sounded super cool but I could get used to that G&L body so I sold the guitar. I have a Tele no and thought about adding a Little 59' but like one of the other people said "it takes away a little bit of that Tele sound", I have a Squire Classic Vibe 50's Tele with the stock pick up and upgraded electronics and it souns pretty nice through my JCM 900 and JCM 2000 but i'm sure a nicer pick up would just take up a notch.
I installed a little 59 bridge in my 2019 american pro tele and with dirt it sounds good, but just clean tone it sounds super muddy. A good overdrive cleans its up a bit. is this normal? am I just forgetting the humbuckerish sound after playing single coils for so long?! I have 250k pot maybe i should upgrade too 500k?? i followed the wiring diagram exactly.
So I swapped for a little 59 in my tele, but eventually I ended up changing out the pots, as with the 250k it just seemed a bit muddy, especially compared to other guitars. 500k opened things up a lot. But I also have an old Wide Range humbucker in the neck, so finding balance between your bridge and neck pickups might be a challenge.
